We're on about 8'o clock and I'll be powered by Clarky's Oly White Precision, don't know if any Basschatters are on the bill - let me know if you are. The details for anyone local who fancies coming along here myspace link. Press release below: [i]Staff from Salisbury District Hospital have organised an eight hour live music festival in the grounds of Philipps House Dinton on Saturday, August 22 to raise funds for the Stars Appeal’s Caring 4 Kids campaign. The 888 Music Festival will see eight bands made up of staff and friends from Salisbury District Hospital who will perform an eclectic mix of music styles to suit all tastes, including rock, pop and soul. Kenny Duke, Salisbury District Hospital porter and main organiser of the event said: “We have got some fantastic bands performing, including Orange Street who regularly perform in London and nationwide. Also Jambo Reign, featuring consultant pathologist Ian Cook, who are forging a reputation for their energetic live performances around Salisbury and beyond. We have had a fantastic response so far and tickets are selling very fast. We are really looking forward to a great day and raising money for the Caring 4 Kids campaign.” “The festival is suitable for the whole family and there will be a hog roast, a variety of catering vans along with a bar serving real ales, ciders and wine. There will also be a fireworks finale provided by Classic Fireworks to round off what is going to be a truly memorable event.” Hannah Paye from the Stars Appeal said: “It is wonderful that so many of the staff here at the hospital are giving up their time to organise and perform at the 888 Festival. We are delighted that they have decided to support the Caring 4 Kids campaign and are looking forward to seeing colleagues showing off their talents.” Lucy Hind, Cardiac Secretary and one of the organisers said: “We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to hold this festival at Philipps House as it is such a beautiful location. Working at the hospital enables me and the other organisers to see what a difference the Caring 4 Kids campaign is going to make to thousands of children, which is why we are so dedicated to helping in any way we can.” Tickets are available on the 888 hotline 07754821116, you can request them by email at and from Dinton Post Office. More recent gig photo. Mainly to show Clarkys White Precision in action. The beginning of confusion on my face is caused by the middle 8 of this song suddenly going missing on the night -

I'll probably be taking it to the SE Bass Bash if it doesn't sell this time round. -
Currently discussing terms with Mrs D but should be able to make this. If I'm on public transport I'll bring either the El Maya or the Prosebass Humbucker Fretless. If I can bag a lift from anyone (from Salisbury) I'll bring whatever the lift will take.
this bass is a beauty!! but how does it sound like??
I think 'punchy' would probably be the best description. The nearest thing I've had to it was my Epiphone Thunderbird but it's got a bit more of a percussive sound than that. You could probably coax a Stanley Clarke-Lite sort of sound out of it with a bit of work
The Kids Are Alright - as a documentary it's terrible. But as a collection of concert footage etc. it's amazing. Beyond the music, I didn't know much about John or what kind of guy he was. I think I would have liked him.
I'm pretty sure I've got a VHS copy of The Kids Are Alright somewhere. First interested PM can have it. So far I've owned the original album, the CD, the video and the remastered DVD.

Not your neck of the woods I know but it might be useful for others. Route 36 Rehearsal Studio just outside Salisbury runs a 'Rockschool for Relics' which is at aimed at people like yourself. Might be worth looking around for something similar round your way. I had a 22 year break from gigging - there's less to fear than you might think

A blinder of a gig (Friday night) at the Winchester Gate, Salisbury. Good crowd and a great reaction. It gave me the chance to try out Clarky's white Precision which had arrived the previous day. What an absolute stonker of a bass - a complete joy to play. The evening went a bit weird for the last half hour when a classic topless cider-fuelled drunk decided to join us on stage - he was basically harmless and genuinely enjoying himself but when he decided to join in on the vocals I had to step in and have a quiet but forthright word. The venue's well worth a look into if your after a gig in the area. Robb, who puts the bands on and does the sound is a top bloke and, unusually for Salisbury, knows what he's doing.

A really, really good bloke to deal with. Bought his Olympic White Precision which is absolute perfection. A superb, smooth transaction, the only disappointment being that I couldn't find time to get over to London to meet up with him. Being the top bloke that he is he organised the postage to coincide with the day I was at home. Here's to the next deal, cheers Clarky
