1. One day I will have £550. When that happens I'll organise a trip too Edinburgh and I'll buy something off you...I promise. In the mean time keep the photos and the sales coming.
2. Thanks Paul. I'll leave it as it is and bung Chris a PM
3. Paul & Chris As I was partly responsible for all this and was quietly hoping it would reappear again shortly - Im back in for this beauty. I've got the money for this now. I'll send Paul a PM regarding spec etc. shortly An open question to both of you - do you think a fretless beginner like myself should opt for a lined version of the neck or take the plunge with an unlined one?
4. First 'real' gig for 22 years last night at the Huntsman Tavern, Salisbury. Since you ask, it was bloody fantastic. A decent crowd c.100 - pub probably holds 150-200 tops. I played miles better than I expected and really started enjoying myself after the first three songs. Plenty of dancing from the crowd for the latter part of the set and two unplanned encores. Landlord really good to deal with, we ended up with £250 - can't be bad. On the strength of last night we were offered a support slot at City Hall, Salisbury sometime next year, which I still can't quite get my head around Didn't get to bed till 2am - dangerous at my age and to be honest I still haven't come down from it all. I'll post some pictures when I get them. Its good to be back First pic:
5.
so what did you trade the G&L for? i thought you wanted to sell them and buy a £600 bass?
Impatience got the better of me again and I traded for Mr Pablo's Precision. Not really sure what I want for the SR900 now, cash would be nice
6. We've got a support slot at The Ale House in Salisbury tonight. Benefit gig for Salisbury City FC who arestruggling a bit at the moment. First proper gig for me in 20 odd years. Bands first solo gig will be next Friday - shameless plug to follow
7. Trades very welcome for the Ibanez, now
8. I really wish I hadn't seen this...anyone want to trade for an SR900
9. I'm going to out myself here. This was built partly with me in mind - I provided the cheap, fretless part of the spec . The finished article is stunning as far as I'm concerned but it ended up slightly over budget and the build finished just as I was struggling to raise a bit of cash. Paul has been his usual excellent self throughout this project, keeping me up to date with pics and making it clear that I was not under any obligation to buy the finished bass, it was never a commission as such. I'm still hoping to raise the money for this - it probably deserves a better home than mine - fellow Basschatters grab yourself a stylish bargain while you can
10. Bump for edit and modified post
11. I'll be all sober and tough tomorrow though. And I'll deny everything
12. I love you just the way you are. Was at a wedding featuring two old mates earlier today so i am little tired and emotional. A Bass Chat book might be an idea, along the lines of the Bass Player book maybe
13. Would you be interested in any trades?
14. Some new pictures added. Make a nice couple don't you think.
15. Not heard anything back yet. I'm pretty sure though that this is a Jap 75 reissue (which is what I've been looking for) - it will be a few years old hence the tarnish
16. Once you get past 40 it all starts to make sense. Trust me.
17.
Looks like a bit of a bargain if it's as old as it looks. Ask the seller for the serial number and check it against the ones on the fender site.
Ssssshhh you two. Emailed the seller this morning not heard back yet. You'll never beat me too it from Notts, Sam
18.
...Basswood is totally palin and boring...
You may have coined one there Mr F
19. I think it might have been pure Geordie
20.
If I decide to let my MIJ P go I might well be interested in the G&L
OK. bung me a PM if you come to a decision
21. If I can sell, I'm in for this. I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, sorry
22.
What happened to exciting, challenging, emotional, scary, flying by the seat of your pants?
That's me. Every time I play. But that's because I keep forgetting what I'm supposed to be doing and just make it up as I go along
23.
how come you're getting rid? That G&L is becoming a bit of a basschat bike!
I nearly let you know first so it wouldn't be such a shock. It's the idea of turning two into one that appeals most. Plus the ever elusive search for tone and "The One" I used to be like this with girlfriends until I got married
24. G&L Tribute traded for a Jap Precision Ibanez SR900 traded for a Jap Jazz
25. PM for trade on it's way
