1. Hi - sorry i am sure that this has been asked before - but cant find it in the forum Just got myself a budget double bass - but it came with nylon strings for Rockabilly bass - any recommendations on 'normal' strings as I will be playing Bluegrass. Ones that wont cost a fortune but will not cause me too much pain (physical or emotional) in the early stages of learning ta Mick

 5.
I've been having fun with this little app for IOS: Sight Reading Machine https://itunes.apple...d662692296?mt=8 Handy sight reading practice when I have a bass to hand or just on the train. It generates a tune and plays it; you can configure it to select a wide range of parameters such as tempo, key, note lengths, etc. Notably, it comes with presets for both 4 and 5 string bass.
Just downloaded this - thanks for the tip brilliant just what i wanted - Mick

I did put for sale at £300 - but tried it out and the volume control is a bit noisy. It will be where it has been unused fo so long - but happy to reduce to £270 to cover cost of a replacement Pot if needed. 8. Mesa Boogie valve V-Twin pre-amp pedal. for sale £300 "This is no one-trick stomp box. With three modes, four stages of all-tube preamp circuitry and dedicated outputs for host amps, power amps and recording consoles, this fortress of a pedal is a fully evolved footswitching preamp.
Though its layout is simple, V-Twin is supremely capable of producing pristine clean sounds and delivering purring blues tones and truly outrageous high-gain rock or metal sounds. Two out of three of these dedicated modes are footswitchable, leaving us room to include the Bypass for use with host amps. It even has headphone capability that will embarrass the effects-laden digital wanna be's. 18. I have hit the perfect storm of reaching 50, retired with lots of free time and a small pension, which means I don’t need to do crap gigs to feed the family. So after a few years away from the scene (been playing bass locally since I was 17) it feels like time to see what the chances are of playing with other musicians again. I would love to find some people who would like to play some Americana/folk/alt country/blues type material. I am not precious about the artists – but really keen to play some good music with good musicians. That is as far as the plan goes – drop me a line if you feel it is worth a chat. Cheers Mick [email protected] Rayleigh Essex
