Mixist, Sound Technician, Sound Eng......No
Hellzero replied to Chienmortbb's topic in General Discussion
Hearing Deficient Person is another good name for these people, especially in all rock genres. Or even and very often Sound Inventor is the right name as what they do is absolutely not faithful to what they are supposed to hear and reproduce. This is the main reason why I no longer go to rock concerts anymore : I'm really fed up by these deaf people pretending to be Sound Engineers. I'll go for Sound Destroyer. -
Even if it's hot, never blow on a ... hot solder as it's the best way to get what is called a "dry solder" meaning intermittent contact and big issues : a nightmare to find the origin afterwards when you don't know it...

Checked and I love it. That said, the cellist with the decorated cello is also in DakhaBrakha. 😉

@Jus Lukin : It's the same in Belgium, you keep your full name when married. So I am Mr Hellzero and my wife is still Mrs Lololita for all legal uses and any other, but we are (or should be called) Mr AND Mrs Hellzero-Lololita when we are both mentioned, even if the maiden name is not always said. And she can't be called Miss anymore as it has become illegal over here in Belgium for sectarianism reasons. So every girl (sorry but I hate the term female) is now a Mrs, being married or not, young or old.

Ukrainian music is very immersive. Singers are often very impressive too. Try DakhaBrakha !

@Reggaebass Last year I bought an Ibanez EHB1505 (five strings version) : it is a very light and ergonomic bass, very dynamic with more options than needed, excellent Nordstrand pickups and typical Ibanez Vari-mid preamp (very good, in fact). The neck is a pleasure to play and the workmanship is flawless. It's now gone to a friend as I have a long love/hate affair with fivers... But I am the problem, not the bass.

Indeed, but it's a bit non legal as it's already more than inspired by the Paul Bigsby design that has been inspired by an Austrian design from Johann Georg Stauffer made around 1820... Funnily, the Stauffer design has been used by his student : Christian Frederick Martin (yes the founder of Martin guitars) and can be seen on early US Martin guitars. Stauffer : Bigsby to Fender : And here, the precision tuning system invented by Stauffer, way ahead of its time : With these photos and historical proof, plus a good lawyer, you'll win.

Headless basses are very often more ergonomic too. My favourite design is the Leduc. And no, my name is not Paul. I bought it second hand to the original owner named ... Paul. That said (old) Bogart and Le Fay approach to headless basses is also interesting. My Le Fay is called Right Hand Tuning (RHT), see below and you'll understand why.

So, you started a franchise ?

Long story short : I once sold an early Squier Vintage Modified 70's Jazz Bass to a friend. It was really excellent sounding, way better than a lot of original ones. He started to use it in the different bands he was in and at the conservatory where he was studying. People were always telling him to get a decent bass : Buy a real Fender was what he was always told. So one day he put a fake Fender logo on it and a different pickguard (scratchplate for the others) : Suddenly it became an astounding bass and he got complimented for his sound. 🤦♂️ Sad but true.

Yep. Exactly what ∆∆ they said. 👌👍

@Paulhauser The strings spacing at the bridge of a Yamaha TRB-6P is 19mm. I had a few, even some defretted ones that sounded really great, but they were all on the heavy side so they went away.

@Aidan63 : Can you put the link to the webinar as I never received it (from Steve Bailey) ?
-
I'm going to sell everything that doesn't have 6 strings. That said 3 of them are too heavy for my broken back, so why keeping basses I don't play ?

So you must be accustomed to yourself. 😉

I explained what really happened earlier and the guy oiling a maple fingerboard must be dumber than dumb. 🤦♂️
