  1. Time to take your pills @Bean9seventy ! Mick Jagger can slap with his lips, for sure.
  2. Time to read this topic @Bean9seventy : Alzheimer dyslexia maybe ? You know that you can also use your fingers to get into your nose and play slap just after to "stick" to the beat ?
  3. Mine (soon for sale) meets the two worlds as it's a 1997 Fodera NYC Empire 5 with a same period Sadowsky preamp. And a fantastic cocobolo fretboard.
  4. Same for me @three , I've been listening back massively to Sly since yesterday and I love it just like the first time. It's so inventive and fun. That said, I'm not a huge slap fan, but when it serves the song, it's fantastic. Too bad, it's so rare. I had the chance to see Larry Graham with Prince and it was always musical.
  5. By the way, Mick Jagger and the Red Devils, Blues Sessions is a ... 1992 project ! 🤣 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Red_Devils_(blues_band)
  6. @Bean9seventy Are you a revisionist ? Or maybe a conspiracy revisionist ? It's so hype today, I know... You have all the proofs before your eyes that, at least, one person was playing slap before 1968 on a bass. Do you understand what is written in all the comments here, because it seems that you don't ? I clearly wrote : "What about this more modern technique dating back to 1965..." Here, the more modern technique is referring to tapping not slapping. That said who gives a f*ck about knowing who was the first to use slap... You know some unknown manouche guitarist certainly did some slap on his guitar way back in the 1940's without knowing that he invented a new technique. Even if you have footage and evidences of the fact that Larry Graham already played slap in 1960, you'll keep denying the facts, because you've found that 1968 footage of a guitarist slapping a note (that nobody here can see) on a 1982 tune !?! Did he also invent that DeLorean time machine ? And about the fact that there's no slap bass lesson video before 1980, urm, urm, do you know that these lessons were written lessons in magazines, in the early days... Check this, but I guess you'll say it was recorded this year, no ?
  7. Of course @Ricky 4000 that's more than obvious.
  8. @Ricky 4000 The OP doesn't want any double bass slap in here.
  9. 1969 hit Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) with pop and slap :
  10. So, around 22 kilos to move. Great against thieves !
  11. Ok, now for the slap thing, Larry Graham who is considered to have invented the slap technique as we know it has developed it in ... 1960 and used it on the first record of Sly and the Family Stone in 1967, so before this pseudo 1968 footage. The band started touring in 1966 with Larry Graham already slapping on electric bass. Here's Larry Graham himself explaining the genesis of the modern slap technique and especially why: He used the slap intensively on the next album called Dance to the Music and released in 1968.
  12. Did you try the good ol' way @ped ? With a good ol' hammer... Works very well when you need to push things a bit more !
  13. What about this more modern technique dating back to 1965...
  14. You have to solder that jumper, otherwise it won't work the way it is supposed to do. This link is made directly on the circuit board you removed. 😉
  15. Check this @ped : https://www.luggagefactory.com/blogs/news/how-to-set-up-luggage-locks
  16. @bagsieblue Does it work now ? That said the difference between the single coil and parallel mode can sometimes be very hard to hear, but come close to a screen or a transformer and you'll instantly know which one is engaged. 😉
  17. IIRC you have to dial in a new secret code and pull that slider to "memorise" it. By default it's not set at all.
