That said, the Alembic CX3 strings are the same and according to many people exactly the same strings built by GHS for them. These are indeed excellent strings with all the advantages of both types and not the disadvantages, except that they tend to rust very quickly : thank you nickel-iron... I had the Alembic CX-3 on my Alembic's and they simply were the best strings you can put on these basses. You can even buy a 6 strings set by Alembic and I think this CX-3/30LCB set will go on my newly acquired Le Fay Remington Steele 6 RHT CC CAP Big Block. http://www.alembic.com/prod/strings.html

Just to put some oil on the fire... A bolt-on neck only needs two fixture points (in fact one would be enough, but the neck would be able to move on it's own axis). The fixture points towards the bridge are useless as they are in compression mode. All the tension is on the fixture points towards the headstock. It's a reverse Archimedes lever principle. You can see the action of this principle on old Fender's 4 points fixture where the heel very end of the fretboard (all the neck in fact) has been uprising (and the shim doesn't help in this case). Now I'll throw some water on the oil, just for fun.

Maybe don't put the Superquad so close to the bridge. Use the good old Leo 70's Jazz Bass position for the single coil placement or use the MusicMan Stingray placement. Think about purpleheart for the fingerboard as it will age the same way as the padauk, I mean that reddish browny. I really like the body shape.

A slight correction, hoping I read your post correctly @Frank Blank : Pino Palladino can't read music and never studied it. Mick Karn was not reading music very well, but studied it as a teenager and had an excellent ear. He had a conventional music cursus as a bassoon player and was even the 2nd bassoonist of the London School Symphony Orchestra, which is what really started it all, not because of it, but because of the stolen bassoon... Thanks for posting again (like I did a few times) Bestial Cluster with a young and already talented Steven Wilson on guitar. Massive Mick Karn fan here.

I had on the Ibanez piezos as they are earthed by the strings, but some adhesive copper (with conductive glue) solved the issue. On the Noguera basses it's the same as the earth is made via the saddles or a fret near the balls, do it's not earthed by them. It's an easy fix.

Don't look any further, put some La Bella White Nylon's. The 750T-CB being light tension and the 760T-CB being normal heavier tension. I also put them on my original Ibanez AFR A104F (ebony fingerboard). Terrific strings. You'll get the growl and mwah needed and they won't absolutely tear your fingerboard. These are also the only Nylon's with round wounds core strings hence this typical fretless sound you get with them. Forget the flat wounds on fretless except the Thomastik Jazz Flats.
