Thanks @TimR, I've been almost lynched for what I dared to write there, so I understood that those in the mentioned thread are the defenders of "I make as much noise as I want, because I was there first and it's my property...".

@lvrossem, if you're near Antwerp, contact Axl Peleman, he is an excellent professional bassist, alongside a super cool guy, and he could certainly help you a lot with these beginner's issues. https://m.facebook.com/100077285695087/ Say hello from Tony in Etalle, where he came home to buy my Takamine TB10 and we had a very long talk around a cuppa.

This is THE pedal for fretless, simply called The Fretless, by FKT Audio, an Italian company: https://www.fktaudio.com/articolo/the-fretless/

Nowadays legally speaking as there's a calibrated decibel meter in each and every venue in Luxembourg, yes, and they have become very strict about that. But I don't see the point of your remark, as it's simply another anecdote about way too loud gigs.
-
Exactly the same, but in the first try, you'll have tightened the truss rod and in the second you'll have untightened it, or the opposite if it's a left thread. In my first message to the OP, I wrote "unscrewing" instead of anything else to release the tension on the truss rod, as, to me, for a beginner, it was the most obvious explanation. But I know some people don't know in which direction to go to screw or unscrew, then they should let a professional do the job...

As it's not obvious on the video, where are you fretting your notes? There seems to be the "issue".

If it's a double action truss rod.

I love the tone Barend is getting on the bridge or neck pickup reminiscent of Thoṅk. Congratulations to the both of you.

The 30th of October 2016, with a friend of mine, we went to see Dinosaur Jr at The Atelier, a quite small venue, in Luxembourg. I stayed at my usual place with my pal, just before the mixing desk, and after the first track I turned to the venue sound engineer (who is always good) and told him to lower Jay Mascis a lot in the FoH as he was way too loud. His response was unequivocal: "I muted him from the beginning, this asshôle is completely deaf and put his 4 amps on full blast, so he's louder than the FoH!" We went to the bar, were the sound was half audible... Awful gig for sure.

Excellent job, congratulations!

The output barrel jack may be loose (inside), as it's a typical problem with these. Or it could be what @paul_5 said, so check after a few minutes of playing if it does that static noise again, if not, @paul_5 was correct, if it sill does, get a new barrel jack. Buy these as even the expensive Switchcraft don't last (I've tried so many until I found these that last very long): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alnicov-Stereo-Copper-Guitar-Cylinder/dp/B08L69K6QH/

@andyhaines if you can try before buying, go on, it's the best way to pick the best cabinet for your needs. That said I would go down the 12 inches speaker road as the 10's may sound a bit dry in comparison and may start farting at higher levels, but not all as it's a matter of design...

I have a rule of thumb that I tell to every player: If you can't hear yourselves playing, turn all volumes down. Most are dubitative until they do it. And never forget that you first have to match your sound level to the acoustic instrument(s) in the band.
-
Sounds promising, but I think you should raise the T40 pickup a bit as the P-Bass pickup seems more powerful. I really like the look it with the added pickup. Congratulations, very nice job!

Reminds of a rehearsal with a band I just joined... I just stopped playing during it and sat on my amp, waiting, until they noticed it. I told them they were way too loud as I couldn't even hear myself and they replied "Hey, it's stoner music!" I simply replied: "Farewell!" and I left. We remained friends, but they all are deaf by now... So good move and decision @police squad !

For your personal record, it used to be my job and I'm glad I'm now retired when I read your poor attempts to pretend you're the most clever person on earth, when you are so stupid. You're now on my ignore list @JJMotown as I can't stand plain idiots unable to recognise their mistakes, and yes it's a plural.

For those not knowing it, it's the very first electric bass, an Audiovox Model 736 Bass Fiddle, invented by Paul Tutmarc in 1935. I wrote a mémoire about the subject that I've been putting here countless times...

🤦🏻😂 summarises it all. Was a lefty and they didn't bother setting the intonation again. Fake neck plate. The upper side of the body will fall apart sooner than you might think, the lower side has a huge crack and the center joint is doubtful. The back of the headstock has a strange crack. F*ckef up electronic with wrong capacitor and one linear pot!?! Not a refinish, but a paint removal with some lacquer put afterwards. And the logo is weird. Just what I noticed after a very quick look. What a mess.

Disaster *Possible exaggeration based disappointment inside*
Hellzero replied to NickD's topic in EUB and Double Bass
The Gotoh GB707 has a plain full shaft, when the older GB7 has a concave at its center shaft. Both will work, with more accuracy for the GB707, and the original Gotohs machined heads are excellent. -

They are Gotoh GB7 type. -
You are proving with your diagram that has created even more confusion to the OP that you are the one having problems, just see above the mess you've created. I'm really fed up by people like you, unable to explain anything with the correct vocabulary and then pretending others are the culprits. Next time don't interfere with such non sense as the OP was clearly lost and made it to other way round. It's not because I understood your very ambiguous diagram that I agree with all the non sense you wrote. Left is left, right is right and has nothing to do here when the correct words were clockwise and counter (or anti) clockwise, what everyone has been told at school. Period.
