  1. I was about to write to check Levy's straps too @Al Krow. I had one that I bought at the Musik Messe in Frankfurt at the Levy boot many moons ago. A great strap too that lasted around 10 years of quite intensive playing, rehearsing and touring (before falling in pieces). So if they are cheaper, go on, buy one. I still have what looks like an indestructible strap too, but not sold anymore : the Gerald Reese SlapStrap. I also tried the Gruv Gear DuoStrap as used by Damian Erskine, but didn't like having the bass just under my chin (I'm 1,82m with large shoulders and the usual vintage belly 😁 ). There was a SlapStrap for sale a while ago here :
  2. Thanks for sharing that @odysseus. I ordered their last record immediately. Can't wait to listen to it. @Lololita and me have loved this little show.
  3. I'm listening to the silence right now after the performance of Dakhabrakha and enjoying it as it still is Dakhabrakha.
  4. @Al Krow Did you check Richter straps as they make very large and comfortable ones ? I have a Springbreak III which is 11cm wide and well padded ! And it's made in Germany. https://www.richterstraps.com/screen/page/springbreak3-nappa
  5. Yep, but the Delano vision (vision as you have to choose the one you like) with a Richter preamp is very good or a Mike Pope Flexcore preamp if you have extra cash.
  6. You can buy the ashtrays almost anywhere, so you can guess that, here, it was mounted afterwards. Bass Lines are Seymour Duncan name for their bass pickups since so long I can't remember when they switched to that name, but 90's IIRC.
  7. This version ? The sound he's using is working well in the mix and it's not that dry nor ultra clean either. The slap part could have been avoided (I think I don't like slap 🤣 ). The tapping is Stuart Hamm signature...
  8. Ok, the sound is awful, muddy because it is muddy with lot of drive, strings noise, fret noise, picking noise, rattling, and so on... Far away from what is called a precise or defined sound. And far away from my approach of the sound as I tend to avoid all of these. Yes, we can hear almost every note he's playing with what is commonly known as a crap sound. But as I already wrote I like it and it deserves the tune (there's no singing in YYZ, so technically it's not a song) perfectly.
  9. Same old song... Before saying anything about how an instrument sounds, may we see your hearing curve ? That is the most important part and nobody pretending this or that has ever shown it. If you have hearing deficiency, you won't be able to hear the differences between this and that. On the other end, a well trained hear (I'm not talking about perfect pitch, here) will hear the differences. Then there are the scientific facts. Then come the true luthiers who tune their woods. Then there is your personal taste.
  10. The heard sound has no precision in itself if you prefer it to muddy. But who cares, as it fits perfectly the song.
  11. That's how I hear it on the record, typical Geddy Lee sound with lot of drive and really muddy. That said I like it a lot when isolated. It also makes me think why the heck am I always looking for a perfect sound ? 😉
  12. Tone pot says 1977. And the capacitor is the original one, which is a rare fact. Have you other photos in JPG of the bass itself and of the rear of the pickups ?
  13. Have you got a photo of the original one ?
  14. 1977 from the headstock decal, but could be from 1978 too. Better check the pots and decipher their code number. By the way HEIC is not a good forum photo format, better use JPG...
  15. Neil bought a set of DiMarzio DP249BK Area-J pickups from me. Very fast payment and great communication too. Enjoy your new pickups, Neil.
  16. Max bought my, now, rare Zampower. He paid instantly. Communication was great through the whole process. Will make business with him again. A true credit to Basschat. Qui sait, à la prochaine, Max !
  17. Sold a set of Nordstrand pickups to Mark. Fast payment. Everything was smooth and easy from the start to the end. A++++++++ as they say elsewhere.
  18. I had 2 or 3 in the late 90's, but it's not a Zeta Crossover as the controls would be on the exact opposite other end (bottom right) close to bridge. This one is a Zeta Electric Upright Bass and I also had one at the same period. It's a regular scale (41 1/4) EUB (Electric Upright Bass). An early attempt to emulate the double bass sound with some success and a very good instrument. There should be a padded gig bag, a tripod and a hip brace to be be complete. Beware that there's a battery in the rear compartment, so better check if it has not leaked. The controls are on the top left on the Zeta Electric Upright Bass and the price when complete is around 750 Euros.
  19. There should be a diode preventing the cooking of your pedal when reverting the power supply. Chances are that it's only this diode that has burned... Chances...
