The Snakebite - Bass Centre Neil Murray Signature Bass
Hellzero replied to Mister RLP's topic in Bass Guitars
Maybe @neilmurraybass himself could tell us more about this bass. Yes, he is a member here. 😉 -
You can't beat the heaviest rig of all, the Ampeg SVT-VR 300 full tubes amp (39 kg / 85 lbs) plus Ampeg SVT-810 AV cabinet (75 kg / 165 lbs), so 114 kg / 250 lbs... 😳🤪🤦 Had one, terrific sound, heavier than me, one rehearsal, one gig and gone forever as it's a real pain in the derrière to move, but what a sound!

It really depends on what you're looking for and your ability to spend money or not. If you're on a budget, the Harley Benton dirt cheap strings are really good and they come in stainless steel, nickel, round wound, flat wound and with different gauges, so all you need is to pick up the ones you like. If you're looking for THAT Motown sound in tune up to the last fret, but don't want to wait 2 decades for the tone to settle in, buy the DR Strings Legend flat wounds. Or if you prefer a lighter gauge with more mids, try the Thomastik Infeld JF (Jazz Flat...wound). If you want an even more lighter gauge with even more low mids, but not too much bass and more treble, try the ultra expensive Dogal Perfect Pitch Hellborg Flat Wound. For the round wounds, if you're looking for a flat response, try the La Bella Super Steps. If you like a dead precise in tune tone all along the fretboard, with a very light gauge, try the very expensive Dogal Perfect Pitch Hellborg Round Wound. Or simply buy the Ernie Ball Slinky series for your bass as they are simply regular good string and quite cheap. It's all about taste and use.

Suitable donors for PBass neck & body?

Buy a Sadowsky MetroExpress from Thomann and forget your problems. https://www.thomann.co.uk/search_dir.html?__cTr=02d19870-b3f5-4324-8c56-8f4174858e1b&shp=eyJjb3VudHJ5IjoiZ2IiLCJjdXJyZW5jeSI6NCwibGFuZ3VhZ2UiOjJ9&reload=1&smcs=f174a4_6096&oa=pra&price-first=0&price-last=399&vf=true&sw=MetroExpress&sp=bloomreach&category[]=GIEBS4&category[]=GIEBJ4&cme=true&filter=true -
For those outside the U.K., you can order the book Denmark Street: London’s Street of Sounds on Amazon too! 😊👍

Fretless String Shootout - Ernie Ball vs Thomastik
Hellzero replied to Huw Foster's topic in Accessories and Misc
Very well made comparison, congratulations. You can also try the ultra expensive Dogal Perfect Pitch Hellborg Bass Flat Wound strings for an even lower tension than the Thomastik's JF and they also are nickel ones. Be warned that the low B is a pain in the derrière to fit to almost any bridge (and never cut them before mounting otherwise the core will slip inside...).- 4 replies

See the original photos here and compare to mine to see it only has the optional ramp glued; the woods have also darkened: https://www.noguera-basses.com/modele_basse.php?serie_b=YC&model_b=Signature Yves Carbonne&page=photos&categories=Serie YC&galeries=YC Signature Yves Carbonne&nopage=5&ppp=6#galerie TRADES NOW POSSIBLE! It has received a new battery and new set of La Bella Super Steps made to measure for Yves Carbonne (20 - 29 - 45 - 65 - 85 - 110 - 140 - 190), which really serve this bass as they are made especially for it. What you see is what you get! Look carefully at the photos taken from different angles and lights to see the real condition, which is excellent, with the usual very light scratches and a very slight mark at the back near the neck screws. Here is the link 33 photos in high definition: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1NX7nk0AXTG_BlSgF1lpoHsHx3teAgYQK Due to severe back problems (67% officially disabled because of it) plus left and right shoulders injury (it's really painful to reach the tuners), I'm selling all the basses I'm not using like this one as well as some stuff I don't use. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. Don't hesitate to ask for more.

This Sandberg California TT SL appeared today in the ads in Germany: https://www.bassic.de/kleinanzeigen/sandberg-california-tt-sl-4-bass.53923/ -
The cheapest seems to be Thomann for these pickups. Excellent choice that said.

Try EMG, they do work really well with Jazz Basses and they are really dead silent, but you'll need a battery. Otherwise the Fender Noiseless are very good vertical humbuckers with a tone really close to a single coil.

Don't you think you should stop now ... or you'll end up destroying everything. Why don't you ask someone with the knowledge to do it as it's a 10 to 20 minutes job and watch what he is doing? By the way your green and black wires should be reversed at the output stereo jack.

I bought a lot of Musikraft's necks some years ago and they were absolutely not made to the higher standards of, say, Warmoth or any luthier. So, with all the import taxes in mind, it would be better to ask Shuker to make you an excellent neck exactly to your specifications.
