Yes, it's again easy to explain, a softer wood will have a tendency to absorb the vibration, when a harder one will tend to increase it. Could you stop non sense, please.

This is the best way to break a truss rod when you don't know what you're doing.

You are a lefty, so it might not work with your explanations, even if they are right when one knows the left handed fact. In fact, you have to first release the tension of the strings by lowering them at least a whole tone. Then you have to screw the truss rod with whatever gets in the holes (this was meant to be used with the buckle of a belt), so turn clockwise as we say. It's an American made bass, so it doesn't have a typical British anti-clockwise thread. 😉 Proceed by 1/4 turn and retune, check and start again until you have the neck relief you want. If it's going the opposite way, go the opposite way too, so unscrew.

Simple and effective answer : the way a string vibrates, and therefore is sensed by the pickup(s), is directly linked to the construction of the instrument. No need to argue more.

Because people like Robert Benedetto who has crafted a excellent sounding acoustic jazz guitar out of pine wood with knots everywhere or Ignacio Fleta who was able to build a terrific sounding classical guitar out of almost anything are highly skilled luthiers is obviously the forgotten key to succeeding in this task. Remember that an electric instrument is before all an acoustic instrument. A badly sounding unplugged instrument will be a badly sounding plugged instrument whatever pickups or preamp you put in. If you can't hear the fundamental of a note and its harmonics when playing unplugged, put the instrument to the bin... 16.5mm string spacing pickups with 18mm string spacing?
Hellzero replied to benh's topic in Repairs and Technical
The Glockenklang has a double function (and double pot too) treble pot that works also as a real passive tone in passive mode. The Audere preamps are excellent too, certainly the most transparent ones you will find but a bit harder to buy (USA only). That said, you could also use the remaining hole for this this : -

The Glockenklang 3 bands preamp is a perfect match for the Nordstrand pickups. Use the switch as a kill switch. -
Dooh, I misread it, I thought it was Hate us on Trustpilot...

Don't worry, it will. 😉 -

It won't, I can guarantee it. The magnetic field will catch the metal string "interferences" without any problem.

And then there is the dedicated Bass mode that nobody seems to know. Yes, I always read the manual.

I do still have some sets. But it's better to PM me to respect BC rules.

I have a few sets of P2 shape pickups that I tried in one of my basses : Aguilar Super Singles 5, Delano SBC 5 HE/S Driver, Nordstrand Big Split 5, Nordstrand Jazz Bar 5. All are meant to be used with a 19mm strings spacing at the bridge. My favourites are the pure single coils Aguilar Super Singles 5 or Nordstrand Jazz Bar 5. But it's quite partial as I'm a single coil aficionado for their clarity and perfect articulation. The Nordstrand Big Split 5 are too P-Bass sounding for me and the Delano SBC 5 HE/S Driver are too polite even if you can use them the way you want (single coil, parallel, series with lots of possibilities). In other shapes, I never liked the Nordstrand Big Singles (too fatty) or the Fat Stacks (too low level in stacked mode with a shy sound, even if they are better sounding in single coil mode), but enjoyed the DC in parallel or series, really beefy pickups with balls. The original Bartolini Quad Coils in whatever shape are awful to my ears : muddy, unclear, ugly low mids and no top end at all.

There was no zero star possibilities, sorry. 🤣 Done too right now.
