  1. He is (technically) right, your passive bass has a high impedance output matching the impedance of the passive input. When going through a preamp or a pedal, this signal becomes a low impedance, so has to go to the active input to have input and output impedances matching. You should have trusted him, because of his background. It's like not trusting the surgeon saying he has to put back that finger that you stupidly cut with your very sharp new knife. That said, you can live with one finger missing as you can live with the wrong input, it doesn't make a great difference...
  2. Wrong and mostly even, so they sound mostly the same. 😀
  3. All fingers are equal, but some fingers are more equal than others.
  4. You won't regret it, for sure. Hope so.
  5. Ask Doctor Mondeaux for the fingers, he'll trade them for some jamas.
  6. At last all answers at once. This thread can now be closed.
  7. What about an 8 strings ERB with 25 frets and an 8 strings ERB fretless with 32 positions ? Supreme show-off ?
  8. My preferred Jack Bruce tone, him on the fretless Warwick Thumb. Had one too just because of Jack Bruce sound with it. Always loved the way he was playing, one of my influences on fretless with the two other great bass players from UK : Mick Karn and Percy Jones. Rory Gallagher was also great at improvising and he prooved it that night. Even if he doesn't really got the riff he made his thing clearly stuck to the tune. Two great musicians, sadly gone.
  9. Wow, and it's an unlined Hexabuzz, which is rare enough to be mentioned. Should you be into trades, I could propose you something...
  10. It works by cycle. Old instruments reappear every 20~25 years when the owners die and that the heirs move everything, unfortunately most of the time to the bin... So check out.
  11. No, you're not, Marc. Think it's the Invisible Man bass. 😁

Non-smoking environment as usual. I'm only selling this wonderful Jazz Bass like ERB 8 strings bass because I really don't play fretted basses. As you probably know, I also own a Noguera Yves Carbonne Signature 8 Fretless that has become my main bass being a fretless player. Trinity (as it was named by Christian NOGUERA) deserves to be played, and even if each time I play it, it sounds terrific even dead flat and passive, I always get back to the fretless as it's my sound. This bass is unique and has been totally hand crafted with the best woods Christian had in stock at the time (as you certainly noticed it ). All these woods were in his stock since more than 20 years explaining the even sound and the fact that this instrument seems to be insensible to the changes in weather. It stays in tune for months. This bass was designed for Bruno Ramos who is professional player, a teacher and a journalist for the Bassiste Magazine (THE French magazine). This Noguera is perfectly balanced and really easy to play as every detail has been perfectly thought. Don't be afraid by the number of strings, it's so easy to play that you won't notice that you are playing such an ergonomical and balanced ERB. You'll be amazed, guaranteed ! The bass has been fully set up professionally by Christophe LEDUC. It has a new battery and has been fitted with a brand-new set of Kalium BH-190-8BS hybrid nickel round wound strings, except for the F that is plain (19P - 31 - 43 - 59 - 79 -106 -142 - 192). This marvellous Noguera will also come with a brand new spare Kalium BH-174-8BL set (18P - 28 - 39 - 55 - 73 -98 -130 - 174), a used Kalium BH-174-8BL set, a brand new Newtone Diamond taper type round core nickel plated steel all round wound set (20 - 28 - 44 - 64 - 84 -104 -128 - 174) and a mounted once for one hour exact same Newtone set. So you'll have 4 spare sets : 2 new, 1 hardly used and 1 used (that was fitted on Trinity before I put the new set on it). Link to the new Noguera website : https://www.noguera-basses.com/ A video with Bruno Ramos playing his bass : Another video were Bruno Ramos used it at the end of the tune : What you see is what you get ! Look at the pictures taken under different angles to see the real almost new condition : some hardly noticeable very few marks and very small knock over the neck pickup (at around 2 cm away). The bass is photographed with the special Loxx Strap Locks, but will be fitted back with the original black strap buttons (as on photos 12 to 15 which were made by Christian NOGUERA). Don't hesitate to ask for more.
  13. Bought some ABM parts from Flavius. All went fast, smooth and easy. Even got a superb sticker as a free gift. 😉 Flavius is another credit to BassChat, for sure. 👍
  14. If you've got a clamp-on tuner always clipped on and that it acts on the dead spot, I mean creates it or remove it, you'll know which way to go too. In fact, that's the reason why Leo Fender modified the headstock and shape of the neck when creating the Jazz Bass : the dead spot. The dead spot on the G string between the D and E is a well known fact on four strings headed basses. The problem with the P-Bass is that it's often precisely on the note and not in between. It's mass, strength of the wood, type of strings and truss rod tension related, all interacting to create that dead spot that simply is the resonance frequency of your instrument. ALL instruments (and in fact everything on earth) have a dead spot, but builders knowing that hide it in between two notes by the construction itself, so you won't notice it. Even pianos like Steinway have one, that's why players take so much time to choose their instrument before buying it. First thing they search is if the dead spot will annoy them, their playing and what they play, then comes the sound itself. You can also try to simply change the brand, gauge or type of strings you use or even add a few turns of strings over the tuners, this can work. Some players have glued a coin on the back of their headstock (you can try with double sided tape) or hung a small bag with some weight inside on a tuner. Putting higher or lower mass tuners can also solve the problem. There are many ways to get rid of it. Some are cheaper than cheap, others are very expensive, without speaking of the snake oil ones. The Fender Fat Finger is great for that because you can move it on the headstock and find THE best place for getting rid of that dead spot, but it's not what can be called cheap for what it is. Another very often forgotten source of dead spot are the screws themselves. Are they all well secured and very tight fitted. Check this first, and especially the neck plate ones.
  15. For me, it will be these 2 "fretless basses". 1. LEDUC Moaï U-Contrebasse 6 (EUB). 2. NOGUERA Yves Carbonne Signature 8 Fretless. Being a fretless player, I'm just awaiting the third one, which is a(nother) LEDUC U-Basse 8 Fretless. I think it will end my fretless bass quest or, simply put, my bass quest as I don't play fretted basses, even if I had a lot and still have two. Check the "For sale" section in the next days. 😉
  16. I've bought, traded and sold hundreds of instruments all over the world in the last 3 decades. My last buy, a Noguera Yves Carbonne Signature 8 Fretless was bought from an Italian guy living in Ireland, but the bass was still in Italy. After the usual tractations, the bass was sent through a packaging center near the brother's seller place who was in charge of the bass. Everything went smooth and easy. It was a more than 3.000 Euros bank transfer to the seller account who is not even a BassChat member. The insurance is simply mandatory each time and doesn't cost that much, depending on the the insured value and the courier, it can vary from 15.50 Euros using the post of Luxembourg (for 3750 Euros really insured) to more than 100 Euros using the leader couriers which are not always the best choices. Investigate a lot before buying and ask for specific photos... Don't hesitate to ask for feedback too. I'm not an overconfident guy, so I do this with great care. Ok, l'm not in the UK, but in Belgium. Check my feedback if you want, Dave. 😉
  17. Of course, they are as it's Music Store, the other biggest online European store with Thomann. 😉
