You already have my answer, and honestly you will be the one playing it, with the way you pluck the strings, the way you fret the notes, the way you adjust the gain, the type of strings, and so on. I mainly play sixer fretless through a TrickFish Trilobite (or a MarkBass Stereo Ground Preamp too) going to the FRFR 12 + 6 + tweeter (I like the flat sound those FRFR amplified boxes can reproduce and maybe it would not be up to your taste), and yes it's going low enough to ear an F#0, not the fundamental, of course, but then comes the psychoacoustics in with your ears, brain, education, social level, ... decoding the harmonics and making you hear the notes the correct way... for you. That said, most of the cabinets made are totally unable to even reproduce the fundamental of an E1, the A1 being often the first note entirely reproduced (55 Hz !!!), but here I'm arguing (not disputing), so won't go any further... I know it's hard to try GSS products anywhere, but there are loads of videos here to make up your mind and see (hear would be better) if the tone colour is up to your taste : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYZIWNoEQvw0D-4RQQk_W-w/videos Most of the people playing through my main system (Trilobite or Stereo Ground Preamp + FRFR) don't like it at all as it's too flat for them, missing the low mids colouration of an especially for bass designed cabinet and going way much higher than any bass cab. I had a GSS Single 12 Coax with a GSS Sumo power amp and a Warwick Hellborg preamp too and it's quite close to a MarkBass Alain Caron first generation, less coloured The summit was the Warwick Hellborg preamp and GSS Sumo power amp coupled to an AudioKinesis 18134 (1 x 18 inches + 4 x 3 inches) : ears climax ! I also had a small 06B400 combo that was quite terrific despite the very small footprint. Hope this helps.

I've owned and still own GSS products, including the FRFR 12 + 6 + tweeter and they do what they are supposed to do, but the way some are arguing for arguing is not what I'm used to read on BassChat. That's all, and I'm not hi-jacking this thread, just a lot tired by this way of proceeding. Ask the questions directly to Didier Elchardus or invite him to discuss here instead of guessing. This way, we will have the correct answers. It really looks like a trial court.

That said, it's a dropped bottle mark, if you want to know what it was... Next time when family is in, lock the music room door. That's what I used to do...

Arguing for arguing !

Oops, 23 today. 🤦♂️

I saw him live a few times and he always played bass on a few tracks. Saw the tour with Larry Graham on bass and they made a bass duet that was very musical with lot of good taste slap (I know there's that old thread and I am not myself a great slap fan...). So yes he was a great bass player. In fact his bass playing was as good as his guitar playing. As simple as that !

What ? I'm on TalkBass ! Damn, I thought I was on BassChat...

Done this a lot of time. The violin I bought to my niece was the best one. Remember that it takes months if not years to play in tune. But I failed as she started to play the violin the next year when she was 6 and after 2 years started the guitar and played quite well. Guess what, at 22 years old, she is a master chef now, and, damn, she can cook. Ironic, no ? 🤣

Do you have a modem, a WiFi device or a PLC nearby or plugged to the same socket ? This sounds like this plus a ground loop. Did you notice that the noise gets stronger when you came closer with your smartphone (it's in your video) ? You have the starting point of your answer here.

On your amp, you also gave a built-in preamp... The only issues you could (yes a conditional) have are ground loop noise, mismatched impedances and gain saturation. But those are becoming quite rare nowadays, especially if you set everything the right way. It's sure that cascading preamps is a tone killer, but so many people are doing it... The outboard preamp won't bypass the onboard one, but add it in series to its own one. Putting everything flat on the onboard preamp is the best solution to have the outboard one colouring the sound, or the opposite if you want so. Just take extra care of the input signal and have the gain set so it won't be distorted (gain button set to match the output of the onboard preamp on the input of the outboard one nor active input used if there are those) and it will be fine. And have fun !

That's indeed a common "lack of availability in Europe" way of pricing the American vintage instruments, a 1:1 ratio being it for € or £.

Funny to see that those established resellers always use the Blue Book maximum quote for their prices... If you understand these pricings correctly, the bass on eBay is worth around £1500 at the max, after having checked all "original parts" carefully, of course. For those who remember it, I wrote a mémoire about vintage electric guitars and basses (free for reading, in French) and also another one about how to decipher a vintage Fender (I don't share this one anymore as there are too many informations for the fakers...). Here is the Blue Book quote for the early Fender Precision Basses up to 1958.

Due to the Covid-19 situation and severe back problems (66% officially disabled because of it) plus right shoulder injury (non-operable capsulitis from which, after more than 3 years, I will never fully recover), I'm selling all my basses over 4 kilos and also the ones I'm not really using. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. WARRIOR Dran Michael 7 (DM7) Custom NT Signature, top of the range model, early bird, 1996. ONLY POSSIBLE TRADE : LEDUC U-BASSE FRETLESS 6 ! NON NEGOTIABLE PRICE ! Asking price including shipping fully insured with tracking number to your place in these European countries (ask for other countries) : Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (excluding French overseas departments and territories), Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom : £1800 GBP !!! (new price still is $8000 USD..) Fully working and in excellent condition. Here are the specifications : Body : two aged purpleheart wings Top : thick aged flamed maple Neckthrough : 3 pieces aged hard rock Canadian maple and aged purpleheart with two veneers of aged purpleheart and aged maple on each sides of the aged purpleheart core (quite thin and fast neck, think Leduc) Fretboard : thick (7 mm) 16" radius Amazon rosewood (Spruceana Dalbergia) fitted by Christophe LEDUC (his last piece of the very old stock) Frets : 24 (no wear at all as they are almost brand new and fitted by Christophe LEDUC when he put the new fretboard) Headstock : angled 4 + 3 shape with aged flamed maple thick veneer Pickups : 2 x Warrior-Bartolini humbuckers Preamp : Warrior-Bartolini NTMB-918 FL first version (18 Volts) with the "tone killer" Sparkle Circuit removed and replaced by a classic gain Controls : volume (push-push, yes push-push, active/passive), blend, stacked bass and treble, 3 way mid switch (250 Hz, 500 Hz, 800 Hz), mids Tuners : Warrior-Gotoh Bridge : Hipshot "A" Style with typical Warrior strings through for B, E and A (they can be fitted at the bridge too) Strings spacing at bridge : 16.5 mm Nut : bone (new one fitted by Christophe LEDUC when he put the new fretboard) Strings spacing at nut : 9 mm Knobs : gold metal Scale : 34 inches Hardware colour : gold Truss rod : one single action (fitted by Christophe LEDUC when he put the new fretboard) Finish : translucent anointed oil as Warrior calls Tung oil Land of craftsmanship : USA Serial number : 04886 Year : 1996 Weight : 5.493 kilos Action : from 1.5 mm under the F string to 2 mm under the B string at 12th position (can go lower, but was perfect for me) Will come with a brand new Fame fake brown snakeskin hard case (with one key as it was delivered like this), like the ones Warrior used. The bass also comes with a brand new set of Dunlop gold Straplok as it's fitted with the flush mount strap system. Non-smoking environment as usual. The bass has been fully set up professionally by Christophe LEDUC when he did the new fretboard fitting, which also received a differential dressing. It has received two new batteries and has been fitted with a brand new set of Pyramid SSSL strings (22 - 27 - 47 - 67 - 87 - 107 - 128). Long story short, this bass started its life as a fretted, then has been defretted, then refretted, then defretted again and received the last (too much) refretting leaving the fretboard almost non existent. So, I decided to give this bass its original design and it received a thick Amazon rosewood fretboard with classic silver-nickel frets and a new truss rod (4 mm Allen key) as the original had broken (a common known problem by old Warrior basses). I chose the Amazon rosewood because it's quite close to the Brazilian rosewood when it comes to tone with clear and powerful low mids, thick bass and silk highs, but is also close to purpleheart in terms of colour and tone too (more low mids and less scooped by Amazon rosewood). Couple this with the full Bartolini design and you get a very versatile bass that cuts through the mix. And then the bass started some kind of Tour de France to get back to me, but it's too heavy for me (now), even if it's really easy to play thanks to the quite thin neck with a 16" radius fretboard. Look at the photos taken under different angles and light to see the excellent condition of this bass. And yes, the hard case is brown, but it's hard to photograph. The mark at the back of the neck that you can see clearly on the 8th photo is the sugar of the maple that has burned when sanded. This also attests the high quality of the maple used.
