@51m0n I don't give a sh*t about compressors as I NEVER use them. Hey, man, I've got fingers, you know, these are the best compressors on earth. I also have to fight with sound engineers for recordings or concerts as I don't want a f*cking compressor in the chain that will destroy my sound, being a fretless player it's even more important to have full control over dynamics. You don't have to convince me about the preamp in the Trickfish as I know it very well. It's just the Mike Pope Flexcore preamp which is the best and most transparent preamp (along with the Warwick JH PR40 preamp) : I've been claiming it for years. It was just first for stating the real power of the Trickfish and its Pascal Audio power module. I know you hate the Warwick LWA1000 look, fixed EQ, two channels and certainly the fact that it's made in China, and I'm not affiliated to them (hate their basses, by the way).

Just as @bigsmokebass said, these treatments are just terrific. In fact, you are buying a new instrument which vibrates, responds and reacts as an instrument played for years. It's not a secret that the dryer, older and stable the woods are, xthe better they interact with your playing and that's exactly what these treatments are doing. Nothing maging, just some clever analysis of the phenomenon to be able to age an instrument the way they want. Just as @Al Krow wrote, the A.R.E & I.R.A treatment is a bit like removing an useless compressor (don't you have fingers ?).

That said, read carefully the T&C and you'll see that they will only refund £100 GBP for musical instruments. There is another thread talking about this here on BassChat.

The BB2025X retailed for £2987 GBP new !!! I understand it's expensive, but some people don't hesitate to pay twice this price for a basic Fodera, when it's absolutely not justified. The A.R.E & I.R.A treatment is, to me, worth the asking price, but you have to try one to understand the HUGE difference between this and a standard model. It's like buying a brand new Fender and compare it to a really good L series or even older.

I'm a fan of their single coils. The Fat Stack is amazing on fretless basses and the DC is just terrific, even if these two are humbuckers. So add me to the list of potential buyers, Marco. 😉

If you don't like the transparency of the original Glockenklang preamp, put a Bartolini preamp instead or, even if @HazBeen doesn't recommend it, an Aguilar will certainly suit your taste (too much of everything). That said, the bass was designed to be used with the stock pickups and preamp...

The NE5532 (or 5534) is still used today in high end hi-fi because it's simply a reference and a really musical opamp... When I had my DAC construction syndrome, I found it was certainly one of the best opamp, if not the best. And it has a 600 Ohms output load, so perfect for studio gear like lots of Neve studio channel strips. And, by the way, a 12AX7 tube dates back to 1947 and is still a reference today....

In the preamp, the unknown opamp is the buffer/adapter for the high impedance jack input that goes to the rectangular transformer (relay switching for direct coupling of the balanced XLR). The middle circular thing is the coil for the EQ (multiple outputs). The right one is the oversized toroidal power transformer. The upper left rectangular plastic thing is the DI transformer. All metal coverings look like Mu-metal... So a no compromise conception indeed.
