A friend of mine has a terrific Carvin LB70F neck through 4 strings, lined ebony fingerboard, with a D-tuner, a very rare 2Tek bridge and 3 bands EQ. All original and translucent blue. He'll come to say hello tomorrow. I can ask him if he wants to sell it...

Being mainly a (6 strings) fretless player for 3 decades, the idea of lack of defintion on the low B is quite strange... Why would it lack definition if the instrument is well made by a master luthier knowing how to craft an instrument to hear the fundamental of the note ? To me the best fretless basses are the ones made by Leduc. Try one Masterpiece (avoid the U-Bass as it's too demanding) and you'll understand. They don't come accross that often, but who knows.

Thinning down the herd, so selling the amps or heads I don't use, and desperately trying to keep only one ... or two FOR SALE ONLY : ACOUSTIC IMAGE Focus 2 Series II (> 600 Watts @ 4 Ohms), fully revised by Acoustic Image USA in January 2019 ! Asking price including shipping fully insured with tracking number to your place in these European countries (ask for other countries) : Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (excluding French overseas departments and territories), Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom : £300 GBP !!! In fully working condition and very good condition for its age. Here are the specifications : System Frequency Response : 20 Hz - 20 kHz, ±0.5 dB Distortion : <0.5%, full output, <0.1%, typical Hum and Noise : -85 dB or better AC Power : 115V/60 Hz or 230V/50 Hz, switchable Size : 10 x 9 x 2.5 inches or 25.40 x 22,86 x 6.35 cm Weight : 4.4 lbs or 2 kilos (on my precision scale) Preamp (Mic and Instrument Channels) Mic Input : 600 ohm balanced, XLR connector Phantom Power : 38 volts, on/off switch Instrument Inputs : Low impedance (1 MΩ), High Impedance (10 MΩ), separately buffered Direct Out : +4 dB, balanced, XLR connector, ground lift Effects Loop : Parallel type with return level control Bass Control : Shelving type, ±15 dB at 60 Hz Mid Control : ±15 dB at 650 Hz Treble Control : Shelving type, ±15 dB at 10 kHz Brite Control : ±15 dB at 9 kHz Notch Filter : >-18 dB sweepable from 30 to 700 Hz High Pass Filter : -12 dB/octave sweepable from 30 to 700 Hz Power Amp Topology : Class D (PWM) Switching Frequency : 200 kHz Output Power : >350 W @ 8Ω, >600 W @ 4Ω Minimum Load : 4Ω Output Connectors : Neutrik Speakon type (pole 1) Will come with the original carrying bag, user manual, invoice of the revision and EU or UK lead. Non-smoking environment as usual. It has some marks, but nothing serious. This is a very clean, uncoloured and powerful sounding amp (the 600 Watts announced are really there). I really like the sound dead flat : very transparent and accurately reproducing the sound of your instrument. It's terrific with electric basses (fretless basses show their real potential) and of course with any acoustic instrument. The amp has been fully revised in January 2019 by AI USA and is road ready for the next 10 years. Pay attention that the floor noise on these "old" amps is a bit higher than on recent amps (-85 dB when the most silent new amps can go as low as -120 dB), so it's not dead quiet especially when you put your ear on the speaker... So there is a very very very very very very very very very very slight floor noise which is not amplified even when the amp is turned to the full power (600 Watts !!!). Nothing compared to the inherent floor noise of a valve amp which is way more audible. Link to Acoustic Image : https://www.acousticimg.com/assets/docs/manual_amp_head.pdf What you see is what you get ! Look at the pictures to see the real condition : some marks, due to the age, but nothing serious at all. Don't hesitate to ask for more. Dust is offered.

Got the answer from Didier, the company owner-designer, concerning the GSS Sumo 1000 : it's a proprietary design, so nothing to do with the Pascal Audio module. It would be interesting to compare the both, but I won't buy a Trickfish 1k or a Warwick LWA1000 to do so, though the Warwick is so "cheap"... 🤔

Bloody Italian blood, thought it was all gone during the last transfusion.

Wait that I get better and I'll make pictures of my part Hellborg rig. That said a complete Hellborg rig would be something I would be proud of.
-
Indeed, by people who read what's on the website and never compared the two. That said, it's a minor detail. Buy the one you like, but be aware that, as I wrote, what is really making the sound of this amp is the most transparent preamp to date : the Michael POPE one. And to be honest, I really don't like your aggresivity about my comments when I only try to help.
-
And to do so with the capacitors, they would be bigger than the case itself. In fact PWM power supplies have lightning fast response to big current comsuption, so can cope easily with large peaks. No need for bigger capacitors here. That said, the Ice Power and tve Pascal don't sound the same. The Ice Power being a bit darker.
-
I've seen the guts of both amps, sorry for you, but it's exactly the same Pascal power module, with the exact same capacitors : another marketing trick, typically American.
-
The Trickfish .5k uses an Ice Power module like most the powerful Class D amplifier, when the 1k uses a Pascal power module just like, for the moment, only one other amplifier which is the Warwick LWA1000. The GSS Sumo 1000 certainly uses the same Pascal power module, but it's a mono power amp only. As I already wrote, the Trickfishes use a Michael POPE Flex Core derived preamp, so to date the most transparent preamp available. That could be the explanation for that :

I sent mine to Raleigh in the USA. Here is their answer about the warranty and shipping : "I have attached a return form for you to fill out and include. Your cost will be the shipping cost both ways, we will cover the parts and labor for the repair. When we send it back to you, we will note that it is a repaired unit being returned to the owner. That will avoid duties, etc. If you provide similar information, there won’t be any duties coming this way.
