I've played Marcus Miller own bass, Alain Caron talked to me, I also played John Entwistle's personal Buzzard bass and I owned Jonas Hellborg own Status sixer. Would you trade that cable for a certificate with all this mentioned and one of my right index fresh cut nail that has touched these strings ?

Percy Jones was (and still is) way more interesting than Jaco Pastorius, but he was British, not American, so not selfish and not playing louder than the other members of the band. He also had nothing to prove to anybody as Brand X had enough notoriety for their members. That said, I like Weather Report when the 'Phons was on bass, ahead of his time in his approach, but without that “hey look, that's me playing“ bad habit of Jaco Pastorius. I'm a fretless player, but my main influences are Percy Jones and Mick Karn, and I'm proud of it. -
A real King Combo sold in France for ... €450 Euros, yes around £400 GBP : https://onlybass.com/topic/91068-ashdown-abm-king-combo/?tab=comments#comment-1700126 Not sure about what the guy is telling in the Superking Combo ad : Valve? Yes, in the preamp section... 1200 Watts ? Where is the proof... It's only an EVO II 900 head. 8x12" ? I know there is an 8x10“ version (see above), but tvere is no evidence even by Ashdown of such a cab. Superking ? Again no proof nor evidence. Price is ridiculous.

Took me 20 years to understand Jeff Beck and love whatever he did and still is doing. That happened one day, in the late 90's, when a friend of mine had me listen to Got the Feeling from the The Jeff Beck Group album Rough and Ready (1971) : that was it, he wasn't playing notes (out of tune) for playing notes (out of tune) but making music. I listened to the whole album and started buying the other ones. We even saw him twice with my wife over here which some kind of feat as he doesn't tour that much in continental Europe. -
I ended up fitting (with double sided tape) the Bass-Mute on my Leduc PAD 6 : Motown, here I come !

'Phons phoned and gave the answer...
-
I read that it was made this way on the 'Phons request. Remember that he played with Santana (Mexican mushrooms can sometimes have side effects) and Weather Report (alcool can also have some strange side effects)...

Call the 'Phons !

The EGC2000 Bass is based upon Kevin Burkett’s personal favorite bass of all time, the TB2000. He has beaten these basses to hell and back and they have survived it all. The scale has been increased to 34.00” and features a hard tail string through EGC bridge. Gotoh lightweight aluminum tuners are used for this model to save weight and the gear ratio allows for a more precise tuning of each string. The EGC2000 Bass a classic design with a modern touch. Often requested as an EGC Custom build, the EGC2000 Bass was an obvious addition to the EGC Classic line. TThe EGC2000 Bass comes with 1 EGC bass pickup (in humbucker shell). The rear plate is powder coated with an industrial wrinkle black finish to prevent buckle rash. The control configuration for the EGC2000 is: 2 volume knobs, 2 tone knobs and 3-way switching. Price: $2,900.00usd

For those looking for it, it's just the left of the left screen, erm a very small part of the upper side of the headstock. Is it the same as Alphonso Johnson ?
-
Sounds like an old Lanz tractor !

Where is the Delta Metal fretless ? Don't tell me you don't have one !?! 🤪
-
That said, if you have no tuning stability problem, don't change them as these Hipshot Ultralite's are not really cheap.
-
USA Hipshot Ultralite have not always been branded. I had a set of mixed branded on the bass side and unbranded on the treble side on a very old fiver Wood & Tronics...

I knew there was one, came back to me right now : The Wooten Brothers, Put Love to Work. Even worse than any Toto album. A big pack of deep merdiques titles absolutely impossible to listen to without wanting to buy a plane ticket to be sure to put them all a bullet in the head. My record seller agreed and even refunded me after listening the opening track. If you like torture or want to make someone sick, go on, it's the perfect gift. How can studio musicians record such a truckload of crap ? -

Tomorrow never knows is my favourite track and to me their best album is Abbey Road (so much tension in it that you can feel). Never been a big fan of the White Album too. My wife offered me the stereo CD's box set when it was released : a gift that has a very high value to me for lots of reasons. -
"who" is certainly better than "that" borrowed. I wrote Wal 3 times in a row, must be addicted. 🤣
-
Yes, they do and a lot... I remember the glorious days when I had one with a Kahler vibrato on it, always fine (and sometimes heavy) tuning notes while playing thanks this "gadget". That's the main reason why Mick Karn played a Wal, thanks to his tech/roadie that borrowed a Wal during an "impossible to stay in tune" recording session as the studio was just near Wal office. The rest is history.
