1. Hi, What kind of fretless sound are you looking for ? Say a player's name, that would help. I've mainly been a fretless player for 3 decades and have owned quite a lot, so I can probably help... Tony.
2. Gorgeous !!! Tony.
3. For sure, they've made a big mistake with the first ones. They shouldn't have sold these "demo" basses... Anyway, Tune is a great manufacturer, so the overall quality must be up. If I have the opportunity to try one of these Tune made I'll do so, but Lightwave dealers are quite rare over here. :-( Tony.
4. Hi Happy Jack, Those 2 basses were amongst the very first produced, this is, maybe, the explanation. Soundwise, my Leduc U-Basses were way much more precise and absolutely unforgiving any slightly wrongly placed finger. And real tone monsters. Tony.
5. Hi Z, I used to have two Lightwave Saber 4 strings (sorry, but it's a plural, so there must be an "s"). One was fretless and one fretted. All I have to say is that the sound is not that terrific and that the craftsmanship is more on the Chinese side. The necks were awfully badly made with dips and bumps everywhere, they were too thin and totally unstable. The good thing is that the "pickups" are very easy to set up. What about the sound : think EMG on the boring side, absolutely not alive and certainly not punchy. I sold both of them for half the price I paid two weeks later. Here is my experience. Tony.
6. Here is my advise, if you want to buy something over there, buy from someone with 100% positive feedback... When searching, do check the "Top-Rated" item. And always ask for real pictures of what you desire, in one word : chat !!! The pictures used by all sellers are the same as everything comes from the same factory : http://www.aliexpres...2354997060.html I'll wonder if mm1989 has received its "Fodera" ? Tony.
7. Hi, It's not the way to date a Fender, you have to take to younger date, not the older, which is quite logical... Anyway that's a nice looking 1967 Jazz Bass. GLWYS. Tony
8. One of the best fretless I ever played : think Mick Karn ! I was so stupid to sell mine some 15 years ago... And for now I'm more than happy with my Leduc EUB. GLWYS, Tony.
9. So, it's rather a 1967 than a 1966. GLWYS. Tony.
10. Terrific colour, I really like those toilet seat colours like the sea foam green, but the daphné blue wins it all. Free bump for a great looking (and for sure, sounding) jazz bass. GLWYS, Tony.
11. Looks like you're in love with Status basses. ;-) Nice collection, reminds me of my Leduc era.
12. Hi, Really beautiful. How is that maple neck sounding ? Heavily compressed like Fender or more opened ? Tony.
13. Hi, Terrific job ! I've been building something like a dozen of instruments on my side, but your job is fantastic. My last is this one almost 10 years ago, but it's gone now, to a better home, I hope. And by the way, you are right, dressing the frets is always a pain in the ass (sorry for being crude), that's why I prefer fretless. Just two questions, won't it be too heavy and unbalanced, because of the tuners ? Proficiat !!! Tony.
14. Hi again, By the way, I also owned two Zeta Crossover (4 and 5), but didn't like the sound that was too fretless for a "double bass". And I think the scale is too short. Tony.
15. Hi, Quite strangely, it's very close to a real acoustic double bass. I've owned Jesse's own 6 strings and also an NS Design EU 4 strings after the Ergo and now my long awaited Leduc Contr-U-Bass 6 strings (again). It's a real bargain, even if it looks a bit "nude", don't be fooled by that. I sold it only because I found a low ball selling NS Design EU-4, which is more versatile, period. Then I sold the EU-4, because of this Leduc. GLWYS, Tony.
16. Hi, So, I started playing the bass some 32 years ago with a piece of sh*t called Maya, a P-Bass like... I sold it to get drunk by the end of my scientific photograph studies, and it was worth to do it. I also sold a fully original Korg MS-20 for 1000 BEF (25 Euros !!!) at the time as nobody was interested in this keyboard, still regretting it today. Then I bought, with my first salary, a second hand Aria Diamond (Hofner 500/1 copy) that Christophe Leduc turned into fretless as I wanted to play without frets. And it all started with a few bands and awful gigs. It was by that time that I started to gas... I've owned something like 300 basses and a 100 amps, quite normal for a musician, no ? By now, and 2 cd's later, I'm not playing in a band anymore as I'm fed up with those nasty, badly paid and useless gigs and rehearsals, but I think it won't last. I'm a 6 strings fan, more on the fretless side. Gas on, Tony.
17. Hi, Great bass, I owned one some years ago, quite easy to set up and pickups must be aligned to work at the best. GLWYS, Tony.
18. Superb, too bad it's a 5 string. GLWYS. Tony.
19. . New price lowered a bit (see below) : £4375. Here is my real well worn 1968 Fender Jazz Bass. Look at the pictures below : they speak for themselves... It comes with two (2) necks : the original with pre CBS logo with matching body stamps on the heel, extra strap button on the back of the headstock, new brazilian rosewood dotted fingerboard (and trussrod + of course binding) and lollipop tuners, which has been converted into fretless by french luthier Christophe Leduc + another one original 1968 Fender fretted neck with the CBS logo (bought during the conversion as it took 6 monthes...). The hard case is worn like the bass. The real tortoise pickguard is shrunk like it should be on a 47 years old instrument. Sounds terrific with both necks, all the growl you need on the fretless and the balls on the fretted. I can ship anywhere in the world, I've done it hundreds of times. New here, but not on AudioMarkt (http://www.audio-mar...61&faction=show), Audiogon (Hellzero), Zikinf (Hellzero), eBay (http://feedback.befr...tab=AllFeedback), ... Preferably trade against a 6 strings (fretless or fretted) bass of the other big F's (Fodera, F-Bass), but feel free to offer anything else : I'll answer as quick as possible.
