  1. This is mine, bought the 6th of December 2023. I put an old original epoxied American Sadowsky VTC preamp that I had in the drawer as well as some brand new real deal original Sadowsky pickups. That said, it was already excellent sounding with the Chinese pickups and preamp. I also put a Sadowsky decal, but let everything else. The Sadowsky Portabag is also pictured @King Tut
  2. A push-push, yes push-push as it's way easier and faster to use, for series/parallel would be better.
  3. 1971 for the 3 bolts necks by Fender. I clearly read 72 too. 😉
  4. Superb looking model in pristine condition! GLWYS.
  5. By pulling the bass knob, you enter the passive mode without tone control. If you want a tone control, you can buy the expensive VTC upgrade kit or do it yourself or put a Sadowsky VTC preamp. They come with the Sadowsky Portabag and the whole lot of goodies.

    Flatter.

Nope, six coats, and he could thank Kevin Kaufman for making it right afterwards... https://ricksuchow.com/rebuilding-the-bass-of-doom-added-2-21
  7. With an ebony tailpiece, it will look even more stunning!

Worth checking this very clever build:
  9. Calling @dafonky for the original question. 😉
  10. Maybe, like the Verdine White MetroExpress which is really good.
  11. And the upper (E string side) holes for the thumb rest. 😉
  12. Yes, I know they are pretty good and Mark is a truly honest person too, so no problem to get your money back indeed @TheStarsmith.
  13. The bass you're interested in @TheStarsmith is out of stock at Bassdirect.co.uk... https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/fender-jazz-bass-gloss-black-1972-pre-owned/
  14. For way less, you have, at the same place, a really fully original and beautiful 1976 Fender Jazz Bass. And here they say that it had been refinished in black "later scraped off" over the original Olympic White that has turned into the usual lovely creamy colour: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/fender-jazz-bass-1976-olympic-white-pre-owned/
  15. That said, what is interesting on this Jazz Bass is that it still is a 4 screws model, which is quite rare in 1974, but not unusual and deciphering the stamp makes it a real one: 02 means Jazz Bass, 01 means rosewood for the fingerboard, 52 is the last week (if it's not a 5, it can't be higher) of 4 so 74 and 3 is the day of the week, which is Wednesday. If it's really week 52 and 3rd day, it means this neck was made exactly on Christmas day of 1974...
  16. It's a non original 1974 Fender Jazz Bass as the neck stamp attests it. As previously said, it's not what it's supposed to be. And the price tag is way too high.
  17. I totally trust you, no worries. 😉
  18. Can you weight it, please, dear Sir? 🙏
  19. But is it good for a man's back?
  20. Great modification! Congratulations! But beware of the Apostrophe Police 🚓 🚨
  21. Lamborghini is making excellent tractors, that said.
  22. Will you call it "Saviour of the Universe" or "King of the Impossible"?
  23. I love these instruments @NickA, thanks for showing us yours. There are 7 different Viole di Gambe, literally Legs Violins, but their tuning is quite consistent as it's fourth fourth fourth third fourth fourth and the clef goes from F to G passing by (the 3 different) Ut (C) clef. The higher register model can sometimes only have 5 strings and the bass register model can sometimes have a 7th string, often tuned lower. They were only partly fretted, because there was no use of higher registers at the time (XV's century !!!) for a solo instrument and with 7 different sizes covering all the available register, these instruments were often used as a whole "orchestra", or played within a "chamber orchestra", especially in the beginning, or played solo without all the modern stunts. Try to tune it and play it, and you can use a modern tuning in fourth if it's easier as there's no strict rule about it. 😉
