  1. €400 EUR: JP Basses Zia Hollowbody Piezo 5 fretless, 33 inches scale, 3.340 kilos, unique model made only once! The bass, which was originally fretted has been defretted upon my request by Jean-Philippe Ferreira himself (see photos in the Google Drive link). For sale, because I really can't cope with the flat (or infinite) radius and classical guitar type neck, which give me cramps in the left thumb, sorry Jean-Philippe, but I tried and tried as I love the tone... NO TRADES! NON NEGOTIABLE PRICE ! Asking price including shipping fully insured with tracking number to your place in these European countries (ask for other countries) : Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (excluding French overseas departments and territories), Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden : €400 Euros (£350 GBP is an approximation and I will only accept payment in Euros) !!! Shipping to United Kingdom is, of course, possible, but with an extra customs fee (VAT + other taxes + courier fee), because U.K. is now outside EEC. In perfect working condition and, except some obvious marks and dings, in very good condition for its age (it will be 19 years old in September and has been played a lot). Here are the specifications : Body: cedar core Top and back: wenge Neck: wenge Fingerboard: wenge Positions: 24 (flamed ash lined fretless) Headstock: 2 + 3 Pickups: RMC piezos only (with a long ramp on the body) Preamp: John East Custom made for JP Basses Controls: Volume (bright on push-pull), bass, treble (Neutrik locking jack) Tuners: Hipshot UltraLite 3/8 USA (special made in chrome finish for JP Basses) Bridge: Hipshot Type A (no idea if it's brass or aluminium) Strings spacing at bridge: 19mm Nut: bone (unglued like classical guitars) Strings spacing at nut: 9mm Knobs: wenge Scale: 33 inches Hardware colour: chrome with Dual Design Dunlop strap buttons Truss rod: one, 100% functional Finish: natural (nitro cellulosic) Country of origin: France Serial number: 11092004 Year: 11th of September 2004 Weight: 3.340 kg and absolutely no neck diving Action : from 1.5 mm under the G string to 2 mm under the B string at 12th position (can even go lower, but was perfect for me as it's a 33 inches scale bass) Will be delivered in a used Ritter gig bag (see photos). Non-smoking environment as usual. The bass has received a new battery and has been fully set up professionally by Jean-Philippe Ferreira himself, which means it's perfect. It is fitted with a broken in set of D'Addario Chrome ECB81-5 stainless steel flat wound strings (45 - 65 - 80 - 100 - 132), which really serve this bass. The tone is simply excellent with loads of bass thanks to the RMC piezos (really the best on the market) and doesn't sound harsh at all, a very versatile bass in fact, where the dynamics is controlled by your plucking hand, and according to JP Basses owner, Jean-philippe Ferreira, the best bass he ever crafted. Upon request, I can put a set of Thomastik JF in E to C tuning instead of the D'Addario Chrome, but the action will be a bit higher due to the lower tension of these strings. What you see is what you get ! Look carefully at the photos taken from different angles and lights to see the real condition, which is very good for its age with some obvious marks and dings. Here is the link to all the photos with defretting and how it was looking when fretted and now with two videos recorded unplugged and plugged: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Yic9JwaQbg3YIfBvMX2eHeqdIyVIprcu?usp=drive_link Due to severe back problems (67% officially disabled because of it) plus right shoulder injury (non-operable capsulitis from which, after more than 4 years, I will never fully recover), I'm selling all my basses over 4 kilos and also the ones I'm not really using as well as some stuff I don't use. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. Don't hesitate to ask for more. I need the money quick!
  2. I guess you don't know what "con" means. I've been nailed on a cross and burned alive for using this word in English on this very parish...
  3. Looks like the bridge is simply recessed @Si600. 😉
  4. Having seen his face on the picture above, it's now obvious... 🤦🏻‍♂️🤪
  5. As explained elsewhere @NikNik, in Japan, the item is for sale on commission, but any shop accepted in the "system" can propose it at whatever price they want as long as they pay the asking price for the sale. 😉
  6. Since when a thread is not derailing on BassChat... And here it's a soft and nice one. Don't withdraw anything @rwillett.
  7. Everything depends of or even on your skills, of course @rwillett. A friend of mine entirely built a bass as a end of school project with the CNC machine they had there and it took him less time than building the same one by himself, which he did before. I used AutoCad 3D for myself many years ago and was able to recreate a violin top using the method of Antonio Bagatella (published in 1782, Padova, Italy) that you can find in the Nouveau manuel du luthier (Encyclopédie Roret, 1894) book with a mistake mentioned by the authors that I corrected (the system of measures used was a bit of nightmare to convert), but it didn't take me more than a few days and it's not my job. Another friend of mine who is an architect can generate a program to build an entire bass in less than a day as he's very skilled (that's the less you can say) and he did it for me once for an aborted project as renting the CNC was cost prohibitive for me. So, yes it can be a trial, error, correct, retrial, recorrect and repeat process, but not if you really master all the process, which CNC operators should.
  8. Sorry, but $7800 USD is way too high for the basic neck through model especially CNC made, which means a one day job to totally finish it, when it would take at least close to a month to make it totally by hand. So even with single units, a CNC cuts everything down including the price. And as @LeftyJ said, Warwick says hi. 😉
  9. I like the concept and fully understand the idea, but the price is totally delirious according to the fact that it's a CNC made instrument. 🤦🏻‍♂️
  10. Tele plate for me too, but please don't put any scratchplate on that beautiful flamed maple.
  11. I'd like to thank the tables and chairs that have been supporting us during our gig.
  12. €1100 EUR: TRICKFISH BullHead 1K, almost new, with user manual, power lead and original box. Basically a Mike Pope FlexCore preamp (Fodera) coupled to a Pascal 1000 Watts power amp without any fan! Again for sale as I got it back in a multi trade, but it really is surplus to requirement... 13. At the now close to infinite exponential learning curve of AI, if we, as human beings, don't react and regulate it, or even better stop it definitely, we'll all be history in less than 10 years or maybe way less... Remember that AI is not able to learn nor understand emotion or mood, so when it will decide to erase mankind, it will be done within seconds, but it looks like nobody noticed it.
  14. Furthermore, thanks to the Brexit, the marketplace is even smaller, don't forget that very important point and most of the asking prices are, as said above, ridiculously high.
  15. You still can rebias the output stage tubes to this specific load to avoid this, but nobody will do it, except some crazy techs. 😉 And yes I've seen some melted output transformers in my life, but way more blown speakers leading to this, both for mismatched impedance.
  16. Much higher impedance loads, not putting an 8 Ohms cabinet on a 4 Ohms output transformer (OT) tap...
  17. Cabinet "x" Ohms ≥ Amplifier "x" Ohms. Or is still too complicated @bagsieblue ?
  18. And you are right. To keep it simple with (valve) amplifiers always use the amplifier's output (tap) matching the cabinet impedance, never use a lower impedance cabinet than the output impedance (tap) chosen on the amp, but you can use higher impedance cabinet than the impedance of the amplifier's output (tap), even if it can create some slight distorsion or slight out of phase sound, which you won't really notice and certainly not the audience. Clearer?
  19. You still can rewire the cabinet itself to change the overall impedance.
  20. And to add even more confusion to this, while speaker impedances are most often rated at 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 or higher Ohms loads (or even lower than 1 Ohm, and even with decimals), their real impedance will vary between 6Ω and 32Ω for an individual speaker, whatever impedance is labelled on the speaker or the cabinet. A lower impedance cabinet or speaker than the tap output labelled impedance will, in the end, see the wire itself burn because of the heat generated or break because of the higher extension of the cone(s) blowing the output transformer (see @agedhorse explanation above). On the other hand, if speaker impedance is really too high, say 32 Ohms on a 2 Ohms tap, the amplifier's power may not drive the speaker at all, but who would do that... Maybe we can also talk about of the form of wave generated by the output stage when driven too hard to add even more complexity to what originally was a simple question...
