  1. I never said, it was a light a bass. You wanted to know what wood it is, now that you know it, you're starting a debate... There's something I don't understand in your reasoning. This padauk wood is also used as beams for terrace, because of its high density and strong resistance to everything.
  2. Made by Christophe Leduc as well as the Pad, which was the high end version. Padauk is sonically speaking close to maple.
  3. And here is a bass entirely mage out of padauk, called the PadRock:
  4. PADAUK! https://www.bellforestproducts.com/padauk/ https://www.wood-database.com/african-padauk/
  5. Hey, it's Nikki Sixx, why are you waiting for something coherent?
  6. Thanks for the link @Ralf1e: it opened my eyes too and the last sentence about the flat fingerboard used for centuries on acoustic guitars says it all. My newly acquired JPBAsses Zia Hollowbody 5 Piezo Fretless has a flat (or infinite as they now like to say) radius fingerboard and I can get an insanely low action without any buzzing at all: now I know why. It's now obvious, but wasn't before and will avoid me now all these micro adjustments after levelling frets or fingerboards: I'll do an hourglass levelling. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»
  7. Get the Funk Out was originally written and certainly played by Nuno Bettencourt (and Gary Cherone for the lyrics) as he was a bassist playing too many notes, before becoming that talented guitarist. πŸ˜‰
  8. That's indeed a challenge to keep playing it...
  9. Yep, another great piece to play @Boodang, thanks for the reminder. And I will add Chameleon to my list.
  10. Some Leduc's on the dressing convertible couch where I like to play. From left to right: Masterpiece MP 624, U-Basse UMM 4 SF, Masterpiece MP 524 and Masterpiece Headless HMP 624.
  11. The Shuker Superleggera is a great idea too... But it will double your budget as you already said, just like a Biarnel or a Status (maybe triple here).
  12. And of course Status has declined the KingBass in 32 inches scale with the BendWell thingy. Don't forget @skelf ACG 32" headless models!
  13. Check Biarnel in Italy, they make at least one super light model, in Scorcio series, at 32 inches scale: https://www.biarnel.com/eng/biarnel-instruments/biarnel-electric-basses/biarnel-scorcio/
  14. Yamaha B Motion MB-II: https://www.zikinf.com/annonces/annonce-2155344 But it's not headless... I need some more coffee. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
  15. Sivcak has a lot of choice, including Sadowsky/Pope like aluminium knobs : https://www.shop.sollerguitars.com/guit-control-knobs
  16. Papa Was a Rolling Stone, So What, A Remark You Made, Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home) and Take Five (as well as the sax part transcribed for bass).
  17. Try ammonia first, it has the faculty to darken wood, but make light passes as it can really darken a lot.
  18. 8 posts on TalkBass in 8 years: I'm quite regular. πŸ€”πŸ˜‚ And 5,190 here over the same period, think I prefer talking bass here.
  19. There's a third option, which is removing the frets, sanding the whole fingerboard flat to the depth of the slots, then gluing an upper 3 to 5 mm (depending on the depth of the slots) thick ebony fingerboard radiused to your "needs" and moving the side dots to the correct position. It's fast and easy.
  20. Yep, and the intro is really Γ  la Who. Nice catchy tune with that Flash and the Pan vibe (big fan here). Hi @Beedster πŸ‘‹
  21. John McLaughlin riff is just hypnotic on Right Off. Yesternow, the only other tune on that record is excellent too, that said. One of, if not my favourite Miles Davis record and tune.
  22. The neck plate serial number indicates 1976 not 1971! Check the pots date codes and the stamp at the heel of the neck. 5 years make a huge difference in terms of price!
