  1. I really like both. The way the tenor banjo is played makes me forget it's a ... banjo and it sounds like it was written for him, great interpretation, congratulations. The guitar version is really lovely too, very wooly and woody sounding with great articulation and these Aquila strings are very even, congratulations again!
  2. Thanks for that Rob, I'll listen to these suites when I can have an hour of free time as I really love them. I think I have something like 12 different recordings of these... My all time favourite is the Anner Bylsma version and I quite loathe the first version of Jean-Guihen Queyras complete cello suites recording.
  3. Can't really remember, but Jonas Hellborg wanted more headroom than the 18 Volts preamp, so IIRC, it's a full blast 36 Volts, not a distributed power.
  4. Just for fun, the Status Jonas Hellborg had a 36 Volts preamp... And you received a lifetime Duracell subscription with it. 🤪🤦🏻
  5. First, a selfish present: A Fazioli F308 grand piano and I have the room for it. Second, a non selfish present: Almost the same as @Dad3353, peace and harmony for every living species on an unpolluted planet.
  6. You are right, it's indeed Passion Dance from Mc Coy Tyner. I played your partition on the piano, but it didn't ring a bell, certainly because I couldn't get the feeling. But now here's what I hear and I hear an F as the first note, not a D, sorry for the writing, but it's not the most important thing to me as I use it as a reminder only...
  7. Excellent work as usual @Basvarken !
  8. It could be Anthropology from Charlie Parker, it sounds like that...
  9. It could be almost anything from the bebop era... Hard to tell what from so little.
  10. Just for the record, Jannick Top and Philippe Bussonnet (both Magma bass players) are tuning their bass in fifth (C G D A). Jannick Top being a classical cello player he started tuning his bass in fifth in the early 1970's... Philippe Bussonnet is using the same tuning in fifth because he wanted to sound like JT.
  11. Very nice fretless conversion, really The strings look like Thomastik JF to me. GLWYS.
  12. Chris bought back the neck of his Beedster II. The transaction was smooth and easy as usual. Cheers mate.
  13. That said, the pivot point is not near the end of the neck, but it will work, start with 1 millimetre shim. If the pivot point is at the equivalent of the second octave, the elevation with a 1 degree shimming will be 1.06 centimeter.
  14. There is this formula which is very simple to calculate the elevation: length x sin(degree), so assuming the length from the nut to the end of the neck is 81.28 centimetres (as the scale length is 32 inches), you'll get an elevation of 1.41 centimetres at its end with a 1 degree shim. So roughly, a 1 millimetre shim will give you the equivalent of a 1 centimeter bridge elevation. Check the elevation you need on the bridge and shim the neck accordingly.
  15. ... Urm, urm.
  16. You can shim this bolt-on neckthrough, but it won't solve the problem unless you sand the upper part of the neck flat with the body so that the bridge sits flat again. This will work. PS: You can sand the part under the bridge only, which would allow a going back, in case it was necessary.
  17. Simply beautiful 😍 GLWYS.
  18. Should you have 24000 € burning your pocket, it's not a delirious price for an original 1955 Fender Precision Bass in excellent condition and owned by Jean-Marc Haroutiounian (born in 1964, so he can't be the first owner), a French professional bass player known for his work with Michel Sardou. That said, it's at 22000 € on Reverb, meaning he certainly will accept the price they retail for, which is around between 15~18000 € depending on its condition. 19. I understand your point of view as I've been playing the 4 same pieces since September to get them perfectly: That bloody Rondo alla Turca has been driving me mad, but I got it... Tuesday is my lesson day and we'll move to a new piece, certainly something by Bach. I practice one hour a day at the minimum, with great rigour, and it's paying a lot, but I'm not into grades anymore, only learning and playing for my own pleasure ... only pieces I like. And my tutor totally agrees.
  20. Turning on the volume knob on the bass? 🤔😂
