  1. Magic is a sub brand from Venlonia from ... Venlo in the Netherlands who were also making instruments under the Unicorn and Famos names. The instruments mere made from the 40's on by H. SCHREURS. https://goedegitaren.nl/gitaar?l=en&t=76
  2. @acidbass I've asked two friends living and playing in Brussels, but for now, the only answer I have is this society, which seems to be the only one remaining in Brussels city... Poor offer I know, but Brussels has never been a good place for musicians to hire backline. So here's the link: https://locinstrum.be/ The son of one these friends is into events management (and a musician too) so I'm waiting for his answer. 🤞
  3. I've been listening to this live video many times, it's so groovy, but I never noticed this mistake. But this are good news: Anthony Jackson is human! 😉
  4. I could return them, but I love the D'Appolito speakers configuration and the offer is only for the iLoud Precision 5 or 6, not the high end Precision MTM, otherwise it would have been done tomorrow. 😉
  5. Oops, just bought a pair of iLoud MTM MkII last week. 🤦🏻 Excellent speakers when calibrated that said (you'll have to install the new firmware version of the monitors first, using the provided X-Monitor software). Calibration is fast and easy compared to my Lyngdorf RoomPerfect system and the results are as good.
  6. These days I only play sixers basses and all have a 34 inches scale, but are also all luthier made basses: the low B is just excellent as well as the high C. I've played 33 inches scale basses that had a terrific low B, but again they were luthier basses and I played a lot of 35 inches scale basses with a terrible low B, but most of these were mass production instruments. Is there a link between the quality of the low B and the quality of the craftsmanship: of course.
  7. @Allaboutthebass check this, amazing bass for the money and it ticks all your boxes, furthermore it was made in Japan: https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/yamaha-trb5-mkii-5-string-bass/1491099802
  8. Some nice instruments there, but a lot of dire at delirious prices... That Peavey Tim Landers fiver is an amazing bass at a quite correct price tag.
  9. I truly think you can always discuss them before the instruments and the seller. 😉 The SBMM Joe Dart is at the price he paid for it, for instance, when most people are trying to sell them way more, and it's a terrific bass (I bought one too when they were announced/available).
  10. @Allaboutthebass look here and the collection this guy is selling: https://www.gumtree.com/search?search_category=all&q=Bass guitar&search_term_populated_by=input&keyword_correction=auto&search_location=Ashton-under-Lyne There's no scam, you can see the comments here:
  11. Don't forget second hand luthier basses as their value is always very low compared to their new price. Worth having a look at the "Bass for sale" section here as there are a lot of excellent instruments in your price tag or even lower. GLWYQ (Good luck with your quest).
  12. Don't forget to ground the 3 cavities after shielding them. 😉
  13. I think that nobody saw that @carlsim needs some 5 strings pickups...
  14. There you have your explanation @Baloney Balderdash.
  15. Better grounding from 1973 on as it's not relying solely on the poor contact with the aluminium shielding since wires are now soldered to the ground @Steve Browning. The capacitor is simply easier to solder and less prone to grounding a lug from 1973 on, hence a quicker installation time and a more reliable wiring.
  16. Here are the two wiring diagrams, 1973 being a pivot year for this.
  17. Already did : Impulse Response sampling.
  18. Lovely bass, waiting for the full specs!
  19. Do I dare? Yes, I do. Shuker Baby Love. I already have my coat. 🤷🤦🏻
  20. It's not that at all, otherwise you could reproduce it easily with a full parametric EQ, a compressor and a reverb, which is absolutely not the case. There are way more parameters in an Impulse Response sampling, and these last 3 words are way more closer to what it really is than your definition attempt.
  21. Found the answer here:
  22. The flat wound T.I.'s are a bit stiffer than the round wound ones, and the feeling under the fingers is, of course, different, but you can sense that they are made quite the same way.
  23. @JPJ Which IR's do you use? https://www.3sigmaaudio.com/items/category/upright-basses/
