What are the "Jazz" basses with thicker neck?
Hellzero replied to mario_buoninfante's topic in Bass Guitars
You can always put a P-Bass neck on a Jazz Bass body, as they are compatible, but if it's too tight don't stress the neck pocket as you might chip the paint. It's a solution, certainly not the solution. -
So do I!

Removing CITES materials from a fretboard inlay.
Hellzero replied to jazzyvee's topic in General Discussion
According to the web page link you provided, the guitar was made in October 2002, so if the guitar has been sold in the same state Alembic wasn't obliged to have any certification of the origin of the ivory, but should be prepared to provide appropriate documentation to the Service, if asked. And by the way, the ivory ban took place in the USA on January 18, 1990... So this is the time for Alembic to provide you the appropriate documentation as it left the state where it was built, and even the land. In this case, the maximum fine of £250,000 or 5 years’ imprisonment is for them, not for you. More about the subject here: https://www.akti.org/education/the-ivory-ban/ -

@jazzyvee : Did you buy that guitar by Alembic? And even if it's not the case, they made it and they put ivory on an instrument (yes, guitars are instruments) without documenting it and making sure the owner won't have any trouble !?! Is this stupidity and non sense a remain of the abuse of, back in the day, legal substances? It's their business to get you out of trouble, not yours! Being so childish and totally irresponsible is simply amazing. 😳 -
Urm, urm, I think, it's about time to buy a multimeter Chris... so you can check batteries first... 😉

Is the red wire (without the resistor) from the push-pull pot going to a battery as this push-pull is simply cutting the power? Follow this red wire and you'll find the Led's feeding battery. The resistor is indeed a tension reducer and might be dead as @itu mentioned. You can check if this resistor still reads a resistance. If the Led's are wired in series, and I hope not, than if one is dead the following ones won't work...

Modding a '66 Mustang (really?? really???)
Hellzero replied to Andyjr1515's topic in Repairs and Technical
Maybe a daft question, but is it so hard to say bridge and neck pickup instead of the always confusing front and rear as it doesn't mean the same from one person to another? Furthermore, I've never seen any pickup at the rear of an instrument... 🤦🏻♂️ -

Not enough coffee, you are right, I'll correct. -

No fear to have, your instrument enters the exemptions list, if it was crafted before 1975. All you have to do is prove the date with, for example, an invoice. It comes from the legal text here: Which you can find here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/dealing-in-items-containing-ivory-or-made-of-ivory#exemptions-for-dealing-in-ivory -

Push-push instead of push-pull pots are real game changers. My 2 cents. -
Is it working now ?

I don't give a sh*t about football, I didn't even know they were playing at this tournament.... Just checked, you must be Canadian...

Will you play Mustang Sally with it @ped ? 🤔🤪 -
Believe what you want, but it's strange that nobody believes me until they try my shielding : dead silent and you can let go of the hands of the strings, there's no buzz and no feedback buzz when touching them again... I explained my process to a desperate luthier upon recommendations of a mutual friend, and he called me an hour later, he was so excited that he said it was almost magical: absolutely no noise on a hollow body guitar with single coils that was a nightmare, and which his owner is now using widely on stage and in the studio without fearing anything buzzing. I really think telling people how to solve their problems easily is a complete waste of time: they need non working complex solutions... The infamous "You know, it's not that easy" is something I can't stand anymore.

I own one since it went out, and these are really good tiny amps for practicing or checking out if an instrument is working. I use mine with an external power bank and put some rubber feet under as it has a tendency to vibrate on a flat surface. The buzz noise is simply due to a non perfect shielding. I already explained how to make it, and in this case the continuity test is your enemy... as the problem is linked to antennas understanding.

Your build is just looking amazing. Say hello to Christoph Dolf from Tony from Belgium. 😉

It looks like the black wire near the S was soldered to the output jack (which is a stereo model, simply for cutting the battery) and is the ground to the jack
-
+ is positive (red wire) of the battery. - is negative (black wire) of the battery. G is ground, the other black wire going to the earth and coming from the cavity. The yellow wire goes to the output jack (check your second photo and follow the path). The free black wire from the circuit (near the S) should be disconnected or connected to a stereo jack which doesn't seem to be there... Make very clean solders!

Bought one too (Katana 110) a few weeks ago, and must confess that it's better sounding than my AER's... and way lighter. It has all I will ever need a d is powerful enough for what I do and play.
