    Better grounding from 1973 on as it's not relying solely on the poor contact with the aluminium shielding since wires are now soldered to the ground @Steve Browning. The capacitor is simply easier to solder and less prone to grounding a lug from 1973 on, hence a quicker installation time and a more reliable wiring.

    It's not that at all, otherwise you could reproduce it easily with a full parametric EQ, a compressor and a reverb, which is absolutely not the case. There are way more parameters in an Impulse Response sampling, and these last 3 words are way more closer to what it really is than your definition attempt.

    The flat wound T.I.'s are a bit stiffer than the round wound ones, and the feeling under the fingers is, of course, different, but you can sense that they are made quite the same way.

    The Dogal's are a bit more even in tone all along the neck, with more mids and way more flexible with a bit less tension compared to the Thomastik Infeld. I find the fundamental of the notes a bit more present and defined with the Dogal too. And this goes for the round wound as well as the flat wound types. That said I really love both.

    An excellent full shielding of your bass would make a great improvement and you could keep those excellent single coil pickups. 😉

    The Dogal Hellborg Perfect Pitch JH171 round wound strings, impossible to find more flexible, very low tension with plenty of mid growl. Very expensive, but worth a try.
