Weird question. Is there any way to make a headless bass to neck dive?
Hellzero replied to BELA's topic in Bass Guitars
If you put your headless bass between your legs instead of on a thigh, it won't move at all. That's the way I play almost all my basses, but headless ones seem to be even more suited for this. -
Beware all, you are slowly starting to say that the sound comes from the wood... Beware.

Mine didn't collect anything as they were in their hard cases until I sold the all shebang a few years back.

Not really, see my above comment.

Excellent job. Looks even better than new. 😉

As @Woodinblack said, everything is fine with Bax until there's a glitch and then the nightmare starts. I ordered a Sire P10 in early September that was in stock, then after a few days, not seeing anything moving I gave a phone call, waited the 30 minutes, got a very sympathetic guy who told me that my order had been cancelled because of the payment method chosen (!?!) but never got any message saying that... So I ordered it again and paid through PayPal this time, then got the usual message saying that everything was ok with a delivery date chosen by me on the following week, and then the delays started almost each and every day for a few weeks !!! After some time, I cancelled the order and asked for a refund. And the nightmare started: phone calls with the same sympathetic guys, promises, emails never answered, ... So I ended up opening a claim by PayPal and they waited until the last day before the claim becomes official and legal to refund. Never again !

There's an AER Basic Performer in the Amps for Sale section at a very nice price. These are even better than the Amp One, Two or Three. Weight is 23 kilos for 240 Watts and it's really really powerful. I own one as well as an AER BassCube.

Sting is a small player. Patrick Hernandez earns the same as he does with Every Breath you Take with his Born to Be Alive one hit single and gets enough money each day (around £1000 GBP a day with just one tune !) to live very well and still being a simple man. That said, his wife is a hell of a manager and is assuring their wealth with a clever marketing of that unique one shot hit single. If that is what makes a genius, then this guy is a true one.

Don't bother with overpriced pickups, simply buy a set of ToneRider, they are as good as any boutique pickup, or even better, and you'll pay the right price. There's no magic about pickups, and it's funny that people can argue about them and consider the wood as absolutely not part of the sound. That said, indeed, only the best examples of old Fender's have made it through the years, the rest were just cheap mass produced instruments that were bad back then, so you can thank time making his work, letting them disappear. And yes, Leo Fender was the king of cheapskates. I've played a lot of awful sounding vintage instruments. It's not because they are old that they are good ... and certainly not better. For the asking price, I would go to a luthier and have 4 basses way better built.

This is even the first JP Basses built by Pete Skjold bearing #01 : https://www.talkbass.com/threads/official-jpbasses-club.316236/page-12#post-15721028 Here, the No Treble announcement from 2011 : https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2011/09/10/skjold-design-to-revive-jp-basses-this-fall/ Here is the website from 2016 when he started proposing the Denoncourt series : http://web.archive.org/web/20160408021046/http://www.skjolddesign.com:80/basses

JP Basses is Jean-Philippe Ferreira brand and he's French, not Italian. Skjold didn't build basses for him, but bought all the rights when Jean-Philippe Ferreira stopped hand crafting them. Pete Skjold is now the only person in the world allowed to build them under his brand and in the Denoncourt Series. JP Basses are also amongst @skelf favourites. This very model is a first generation Denoncourt JP Basses Zia 5. 😉 Here is the link to most of Jean-Philippe Ferreira production : http://www.jpferreira.fr/pics/JPBasses Museum/

Ratio Machine Heads by Graphtech. Any thoughts?
Hellzero replied to Chienmortbb's topic in Accessories and Misc
Interesting concept indeed, might be worth giving it a try. For those wanting to know what it is, here is the link : https://graphtech.com/collections/ratio-machine-heads-bass -
And one Passion Series II at a low price in Germany : https://www.bassic.de/kleinanzeigen/vigier-passion-2.24210/

GR Bass head with AeroTech (carbon) series cabinet. Can't find anything lighter and powerful at the same time. But it's not cheap.

I've played with a guitarist like that for, urm, urm, 10 years... Every gig, not even talking about the recording sessions, was a bit of a challenge, not knowing what was going to happen. I quit something like 8 or 9 years ago explaining him that I couldn't play anymore with someone so unpredictable. Guess what ? He's still moaning about that today and never swallowed the pill. 🤣 So, yes, move on.

Old age and hearing loss... At 70 years old, there's no miracle. Genius or not.

It's been a while since I've listened to Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli, but they can't keep their rhythm right, they keep accelerating and slowing... Really strange. I have this record, I'll listen back to it.
-
Yes, that's the way you should talk. Ask a classical musician. 😉

Excellent misinterpretation ! Congratulations ! 👏 You've won the Rocker Award.

Looks interesting, but what's the price as I couldn't find it ? On my Leduc EUB with a floating top, finished in 2013, the soundpost is adjustable as it can dramatically change the sound and I found it an excellent idea.

I only hear the terms front and rear pickup in English, elsewhere it's neck, bridge or central (sometimes mid) pickup. Why not simply use this instead of confusing everybody. You could also use the terms close and far which are as useless... For the strings, there's also the confusion between going up and down the neck, lots of people are saying the opposite of what they are doing. Notes are going from low to high, and it's written in stone (no need to argue here), so you have to use the same wording when naming your movement or placement. According to this, the bottom string is the lowest and when going down the neck you are playing lower notes. And don't forget those manufacturers reversing the controls on a preamp, going from high to low, which is also very confusing. But people always find it hype to use their own different wording, that's how human beings are. The question is : Are you counting from 1 to 10 or doing what is called a countdown ?

No problems, I may sound harsh, but that's because I never take gloves. It helped you, so that's the most important.
