The second one, the natural, belonged to a friend of mine, who imported it from the USA in 2009 and only sold it in 2023 to the actual seller... It was already refinished in white when he received it, but it wasn't a great job when looking close, so a local luthier (Olivier Roux from Saint-Nazaire) turned it into a natural finish, but everything else is fully original, except the frets that were dead in 2018, so another luthier (Cyril Guerin) turned it into fretless and it was refretted just before its sale in 2023 by the same person, and it even comes with its original case. Maybe worth asking @BassAgent. If French is a problem, just ask, and I'll help you.

@BassAgent, there are two "interesting" vintage Jazz Basses on Zikinf at the moment: Jörg's personal 1965 in Germany: https://www.zikinf.com/annonces/annonce-2397384 A "naturalised" 1965 in France: https://www.zikinf.com/annonces/annonce-2432484 I guess you already checked Bassic.de too... Worth checking Japan too as the Yen is very low.

The impregnated cloth on the left is simply amazing to polish anything metallic (it was designed for jewellery), the buffing cloth on the right is subsidiary, but works very well too. Since I bought this kit, the Dremel with the polishing wheel and buffing paste are remaining in the case.

And rescrew everything tightly, but not overtightening.

So you made it the 90's way and started a huge fight in the restaurant ?

Seen it a lot of times since its release, but it's always a delight. 😊 -
While we are at it, here is an easy way to know which hand is which: On the right hand, the thumb is on the left.

Looks like you never played an aluminium neck Kramer in plain sun or at an outside gig during a frozen winter ... as Kramer or Travis Bean invented the Auto-Detune.

Following with great interest. 😊

Excellent choice, congratulations!

It started a bit like @Skinnyman with my first ever fiver, a brand new Hohner The Jack V. I proudly came to the rehearsal with that one and only bass and started to tune it EADGD instead of BEADG with the factory fitted strings, even if I found the strings very hard on the fingers, I kept going on until the G string broke in a loud snap very slightly injuring my left hand that was on the neck. No more rehearsal that evening, but beer drinking instead... I had to wait for a month to receive a brand new set from the local store, hey it was 1989 so the store was not stocking fiver bass string sets at all, and certainly not double ball type.

Agreed, but if you don't ask him, you'll never know, and I truly think he would give you all the advices needed to start on good basis. One hour with Axl will be better than a year on the YouTube... You have absolutely nothing to lose, on the contrary.

Thanks @TimR, I've been almost lynched for what I dared to write there, so I understood that those in the mentioned thread are the defenders of "I make as much noise as I want, because I was there first and it's my property...".

@lvrossem, if you're near Antwerp, contact Axl Peleman, he is an excellent professional bassist, alongside a super cool guy, and he could certainly help you a lot with these beginner's issues. https://m.facebook.com/100077285695087/ Say hello from Tony in Etalle, where he came home to buy my Takamine TB10 and we had a very long talk around a cuppa.

This is THE pedal for fretless, simply called The Fretless, by FKT Audio, an Italian company: https://www.fktaudio.com/articolo/the-fretless/

Nowadays legally speaking as there's a calibrated decibel meter in each and every venue in Luxembourg, yes, and they have become very strict about that. But I don't see the point of your remark, as it's simply another anecdote about way too loud gigs.

Exactly the same, but in the first try, you'll have tightened the truss rod and in the second you'll have untightened it, or the opposite if it's a left thread. In my first message to the OP, I wrote "unscrewing" instead of anything else to release the tension on the truss rod, as, to me, for a beginner, it was the most obvious explanation. But I know some people don't know in which direction to go to screw or unscrew, then they should let a professional do the job...
