  1. He used a 3 strings double bass, just like any player of the same period, definitely not a 1 string double bass. 😉 That said he played a few instruments too including guitar and violin...
  2. With actual photos, it would be far better !
  3. 80's Aria and other Japanese brands pickups were similar. 😉
  4. Don't know if he can play Chromatic Fantasy on his 2 strings bass, but he can play Donna Lee. 😉
  5. And my original pickups photos from the same period (yes I keep almost everything):
  6. So these are definitely Bossa pickups and these are excellent pickups that I used to try at the time. Here is my original ad from ... 2016:

  16. Yes, they make their own pickups.
  17. That said Ernest Tibbs is a hell of a player, I saw him live a few times with Protocol, and when Simon Phillips starts to become tricky, he closes his eyes and starts counting, you can see it on his face...
  18. Nope, as strange as it may seem, it's Steve Lukather.
  19. That's what I have on my Le Fay Remington Steele 6 RHT CC CAP Big Block, that's quite a name, I know... 😂
  20. I like that simple but effective look. Congratulations @anzoid !
  21. This one isn't pointless.
  22. "The most important thing I learned is that no matter what the instrument is, it is first and foremost acoustic. If an instrument sounds weak acoustically, adding pick-ups will just amplify its shortcomings. Throughout my career, I have tried to apply this principal to everything I build. By experimenting with different types and combinations of wood, I seek to get the best possible tone from an instrument." - M.Tobias
  23. Yes, but Wal Bass Pro go quite high too especially the E version. 😉
