Go for the Yamaha. Is a well known brand and a respectable product and you will be able to sell it later. Franconia appears to be quite obscure and you will likely struggle to ever shift it if you want to upgrade. That said, if you try the Franconia and it 'speaks' to you and inspires you to make beautiful music then it's probably worth every penny.

When using the DI out on my LM4 can anyone advice me what to do with the 'Line Out' control on the front panel? I've not had this head for long and don't recall previous amps having this control so I don't know how high or low to set it. At last night's gig I left it set at 12 o'clock and there were no complaints...

New experience for me last night. Depped for a Showaddywaddy tribute act, performing at one of those big retirement complex places. Not quite fully booked but a very decent crowd and we got them on the dance floor. I've always gravitate towards rock/pop/soul/funk so Showaddywaddy was a bit of a tangent. I enjoyed the challenge of learning 34 songs in a couple of weeks and the lads did a good show. Pleased they had a spare Teddy boy frock coat for me to wear so I looked the part 😎. Deceptively difficult, those Showaddywaddy tunes with all the stop-starts, stabs, false endings etc. I used my 2003 Japanese Fender Jazz, markbass LM4 head and energy 2x12 cab. No food or drink provided for the band other than water and coffee 😞

What's the going rate for Stingrays nowadays?

No I didn't actually, someone previously did the mods. -

I love the Stingray sound and in the past I owned a brilliant Ray34 which was under 4kg and had an Aguilar pickup and John East preamp. I have to say I find it intriguing why they are so bloody expensive. I think £850-£1000 is entirely reasonable for a second hand US model. -

I think they look fab and I like the general authenticity of the operation. I think two pickups should be the start point but I guess he wants to keep things basic for now while he settles into the market. Superb price with that 25% discount but I don't think I could risk buying one unplayed sadly.

Yes, it's Japanese a 62 reissue Jazz from 2003

Sold Jodie a case, easy transaction and was very understanding when I was delayed attempting to send it to him due to my local Post Office messing about. Deal with confidence BC'ers 👌

How much lighter are these? I'm considering a set for my Jap 62 reissue Jazz (assuming they'll fit).

Thomann SafeCase 80 gig bag - anyone tried one?
EJWW replied to franzbassist's topic in Accessories and Misc
Well, I pulled the trigger on one of these and it arrived yesterday. Love it and it fits the Jabba perfectly. You can actually adjust it to accommodate an even longer bass if you want. Really well made and chunky. That accessory bag is really useful. The only thing that doesn't appeal to me is the velvet lining. It looks sexy but I just cannot bear the stuff for some reason. Highly recommended folks 👌 -
Very good condition but with a few very small scuffs, nothing significant enough to be noticeable to the touch. Fits Jazz/P bass perfectly but unfortunately not quite big enough for my Mayones which has a slightly longer scale length. £75 collected from Erdington, north Birmingham Or £85 posted to UK address. No trades thanks you. My feedback is available here... Recently bought from this forum, see original ad below:

I'm not at home ATM but according to the 'net the 34.25" scale version is 117cm total length. -

I fancy one of these, does anyone know if it has sufficient internal length to fit my Mayones Jabba? It has a slightly longer scale length than 34 inches and doesn't quite fit in my Contego gig bag. -
These look fab. Built by Mayones though...really?

Thanks for pointing this out. Thread now torched.

This is an important aspect of band performance. Personally I dislike the gaps between songs, particularly during the second set when punters are on the dancefloor. They don't want the music to keep stopping every 3 minutes or so. But effective banter between the front person and the audience/ rest of the band can make the difference between a half decent gig and a memorable one. A live band is a 'show' first and foremost. A previous band I was a member of was mediocre but adequate technically, however the actual 'show' they put on was brilliant because of the p*ss taking between the guitarist and other members, and the laughs from the crowd. My wife has not forgiven me for leaving that band for other more musically satisfying projects 😂

I owned a US LB100 for a while and it was a quality product in every sense. The problem with G&L is that they are mainly seen as the Volvo of the bass world (not sure about in the guitar world). We expect rock solid and high quality engineered parts. But they are just not very cool. That is a shame because I think if some well known players played them that could change. I've always wanted to try a JB (the p bass with jazz pickups) and the SB1. Let's hope G&L gets snapped up and they get a bit of a makeover. I'm just thinking of their employees who are probably really worried about their future right now.
