  1. I enjoyed that, thanks for posting ๐Ÿ‘. I really like that raw live sound they got on the Tube, you can really feel the live energy. There was a fantastic episode which featured Go West which blows me away similarly https://youtu.be/iX55-5VKcdQ?si=oM5KSBSgMhrfZCYJ
  2. Some smashing chunky bass playing on this tune I've been hearing on radio 1 lately. Sounds like a classic 5 string Jazz tone to me, compressed with a bit of chorus. Lush! But I've been fooled in the past when it's turned out to be laptop software fakery.
  3. Right, so that is my project over the Xmas hols. Thanks for the tips guys. ๐Ÿ‘
  4. Thanks guys, so in summary the wiring is not sufficiently grounded so if I solder some wire as above that should resolve the hum issues?
  5. Not sure... here is a pic
  6. That's just the angle of the pic I think. Here is another, I think the strip and plate are connected ok.
  7. Thanks for your reply @tauzero Here are a few pics under the bonnet. I've no idea what I'm looking at. All looks tidy enough to my untrained eye but.... what do you think?
  8. Hi BC'ers ๐Ÿ™‚ I've recently taken possession of an early 2000s Japanese 62 reissue Jazz. It sounds great but after many years away from single coil pickups I'm finding the bridge pickup a problem. The neck pickup is silent but the back one hums like hell and touching the strings or bridge actually causes MORE buzz. The control cavity only has the metal plate along the base, as does the pickup cavities. Is a lack of decent shielding the issue here? Both pickup outputs are fine and sound good. I have recorded a video to show what's happening. Any advice for next steps greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ‘ 20241222_182428.mp4
  9. ยฃ450 ONO I bought this kit second hand for my son around 7 years ago and it has never left his bedroom. Bit dusty but it all works. Hardly used over the last year since he did his grade 8. Everything is there including the scaffold/frame thingy, pedals, wires and I'll even throw in a pair of 'relic'd' sticks if it's a deal breaker ๐Ÿ˜‰ Fairly straightforward to assemble with colour coded connections etc. Good enough quality kit to gig with but brilliant for practice as it has all the usual aux inputs etc but has a load of pre loaded tracks to jam along to. Great fun! Collection preferred but happy to discuss delivery within reasonable distance of Erdington, north Birmingham. Cheers ๐Ÿ™‚
  10. Spot on. I've quit my most recent band after 3 years because of this reason. Really talented bunch of people, loved the music, saw various members come and go. But when the singer announced she was off that was it for me. Without a capable front person the band will struggle to connect with the audience no matter how great the music.
  11. Bought a strap from Chewie, exactly as described, great experience and wouldn't hesitate to do business again in the future.
  12. Hi all, I've recent joined a rock covers band and I've finally started using my Sansamp pedal that I bought ages ago. I've been having a play with it at home and and have managed to get a really good raucus Geddy clank that I love from it with my Mayones Jazz bass. I include a pic below which shows the knob settings that I've used to get to this point. The thing is I really don't understand what it all means, terms like 'presence' and 'blend'. Can anyone share how they get the best out of their Sansamp, how to use the settings etc? I've got loads of pedals lying around the house but have never used them in a band setting so I'm in very uncertain territory! Thanks in advance guys.
  13. Oh I like that. Player series are great instruments, I'm starting to get a bit twitchy now I've seen that one. I think the player 2 series have rolled fingerboard edges if I remember rightly....๐Ÿ˜
  14. Cracking price ๐Ÿ‘
  15. He came from very tough beginnings and worked his way to the top. 91 is a decent age by anyone's standards. Sheer class. My favourite Quincy track among so many great examples is The Dude. RIP.
  16. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
  17. I love your work on Lexicon @Langy. I've really tied myself up in knots attempting to master that line you play on 'Show me' when the drums come in at the end of the orchestral intro. Really inspiring stuff and glad to have you in the BC community ๐Ÿป
  18. I think this has to be the coolest colour option I've ever come across, love it ๐Ÿ˜
  19. Funny this post appeared this morning- my daughter and I popped into Fairdeal music in Brum yesterday on our way home from shopping with, as above, no intention of buying anything. They really do have a great range of basses these days and I've been blown away by their customer service on two previous occasions so I really want to support their continued existence in any way I can. We tried out a few really nice basses and I felt genuinely guilty walking out without buying anything.
  20. Excellent! That body wood issue is a load of bo11ox IMHO, and with classic Fender type instruments should be ignored. I love the Antigua finish. You simply cannot go wrong with a P bass. Ok it doesn't have the tonal options of 2 pickup instruments but they are usually a nice weight of 4kg or less, reassuringly substantial and comfortable neck, and a provide a standard sound that will serve you well in so many genres. Those GHS flats will provide you with a luscious, classic fat bass tone but if you want to switch back to rounds it's no biggie. I've just switched from rounds back to an old set of flats again on my CV P bass (poplar body) and it's a pleasure to play.
  21. Even though I've already got one of this exact model, your tasteful and worthwhile modifications makes me want this one!
