  1. Oh I like that. Player series are great instruments, I'm starting to get a bit twitchy now I've seen that one. I think the player 2 series have rolled fingerboard edges if I remember rightly....๐Ÿ˜
  2. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
  3. He came from very tough beginnings and worked his way to the top. 91 is a decent age by anyone's standards. Sheer class. My favourite Quincy track among so many great examples is The Dude. RIP.
  4. I think this has to be the coolest colour option I've ever come across, love it ๐Ÿ˜
  5. I love your work on Lexicon @Langy. I've really tied myself up in knots attempting to master that line you play on 'Show me' when the drums come in at the end of the orchestral intro. Really inspiring stuff and glad to have you in the BC community ๐Ÿป
  6. Funny this post appeared this morning- my daughter and I popped into Fairdeal music in Brum yesterday on our way home from shopping with, as above, no intention of buying anything. They really do have a great range of basses these days and I've been blown away by their customer service on two previous occasions so I really want to support their continued existence in any way I can. We tried out a few really nice basses and I felt genuinely guilty walking out without buying anything.
  7. Excellent! That body wood issue is a load of bo11ox IMHO, and with classic Fender type instruments should be ignored. I love the Antigua finish. You simply cannot go wrong with a P bass. Ok it doesn't have the tonal options of 2 pickup instruments but they are usually a nice weight of 4kg or less, reassuringly substantial and comfortable neck, and a provide a standard sound that will serve you well in so many genres. Those GHS flats will provide you with a luscious, classic fat bass tone but if you want to switch back to rounds it's no biggie. I've just switched from rounds back to an old set of flats again on my CV P bass (poplar body) and it's a pleasure to play.
  8. Even though I've already got one of this exact model, your tasteful and worthwhile modifications makes me want this one!
  9. Thanks for posting this. Might be helpful to others to edit the title to include the words Pino or Palladino so people don't skim past it ๐Ÿ˜‰
  10. I really, really like that. Only wish I could justify yet another P.
  11. Anyone else catch Mr Sumner on the telly last night performing at the Radio 2 concert in Preston? I must have heard these songs hundreds of times and he's probably played them thousands but he keeps them so fresh and enjoyable. I've always loved Sting's bass playing but he really smashes it here. Lovely tasteful and interesting guitar playing by Dominic Miller too. Give it a watch! http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0022vt9
  12. There really is something just so understated and classy about those Okamoto's. Even though I already own a great P bass it just makes me want to get another ๐Ÿ˜‹
  13. Wow, just stumbled on him for the first time! I think he is absolute class and I love the 'alter ego' thing. This is the first video that YouTube served up and what a performance... https://youtu.be/eZRzsrR44Ag?si=wlalIODQd2fD4duL
  14. Really surprised this is still here at that price (and a super back-friendly weight).
  15. This is a lovely bass. I don't think I remember there ever being more tasty instruments for sale on basschat that there are at the moment.
  16. Good god that is a handsome specimine ๐Ÿ˜
  17. So if your dad does dodgy stuff you aren't allowed to get on and get recognition for your own achievements? ๐Ÿค” Like @godathunder my daughter also likes him and when I took her to see him a couple of years ago I was really impressed. He is a proper old school rock performer and the packed crowd lapped him up. I say fair play to him for recognising how massively expensive gigs/festivals have become and doing something practical about it.
  18. This is an excellent video on so many levels. It is such a pleasure to listen to Freddie play and to talk about stuff. The interviewer asks such good questions as well and seems to know exactly what the nerds among us want to know! Thanks for posting ๐Ÿ‘
  19. Wholeheartedly agree with you. Really great interview and Ian really manages to get loads from Tim. In the past I tended to find Ian a bit annoying but I now think I think that is due to his vids with Scott Devine - who I happen to like very much as a person and a teacher. Individually really great presenters, teachers and interviewers but together they are destabilised and are a bit much for me. I think Ian is a class act though, particularly after watching the above video.
  20. I just can't believe this is still here at that price. The second hand market must be practically at a standstill.
