  1. This is exactly the sort of post which convinces me why I just can't stay off Basschat 🙂
  2. I second this. Great playing, very tasty bass as well 😋
  3. That is one of the tastiest looking P basses I've seen in a long time 😍
  4. Warning: Boring comment alert....🤓 I found myself in central London today so I decided to have a look around the music shops. Found the Yamaha shop and left wondering if they actually want to sell anything to the general public. Beautifully presented shop but those prices....whoa! I wanted another go on a BB P34 as i think they're tasty. They were marked up as around £1.5k - WHAT?! As soon as you walk out of the shop with that you've lost £600 as they fetch £850-950 second hand. Also, the one I played had some serious hum. The other places down the road on Denmark St were nice though. I still like the P34 though and if I had some cash burning a hole in my pocket I'd be vulnerable....
  5. Had anyone mentioned Norman Watt Roy yet?
  6. +1 for these three. Les Claypool and Mark King from me please 🙏
  7. Damn.... you're local as well 😍
  8. What's the weight like on these? I just don't get on with Jazzes but I'm smitten with this 🥰
  9. This is painful, I just love this bass, wish I could snap it up, please just hold your nerve!
  10. I think it's OK for the opening set but I think as always it will depend on the delivery.
  11. I think I have a very broad taste in music but it is about the way we listen to the radio I suppose. I often just need something 'easier' on the ear or familiar...
  12. Love 6 Music as an idea but the music is just so unlistenable to me most of the time I rarely listen to it with the exception of Radcliffe and Maconie who I have on nearly every weekend morning.
  13. Tempting and I agree with you. Unfortunately skint 😕 (and I've already got a Squier P)
  14. I enjoyed the video, nice straightforward review. I love my Stingray but have thought about the added versatility of the HH. For me the best settings were the usual bridge pickup alone, and the two outer coils which resembled a J bass tone to my ears. However I think you have identified a serious problem for me in the obstruction caused by the neck pickup placement. I don't slap all the time but that pickup would bug me.
  15. An excellent interview. I like Scott and I've learned so much from his videos over the years which has not cost me a penny. His passion for our instrument is so obvious but I would offer only one bit of constructive criticism- he needs to shorten the questions as he does tend to ramble on a bit. Recommended.
  16. Can anyone identify the bass Trevor is using in this clip? It's the same one as the one he uses during the 2004 Prince's Trust gig (when he's not using a P bass)
  17. I've just finished my copy that the Mrs bought me for Xmas and it was as excellent as I expected. I agree with @wateroftyne's comments above, he is a very likeable and down to earth writer and gives a fascinating account of his experiences. Lots of interesting technical details about producing, studios, techniques etc, although apart from a reference to his Wal 5 string I would have liked a bit more nerdy info about the bass gear he has used over his career. On that note I've been watching the 2004 Princes Trust gig and he's actually a bangin' bass player! The bass is lovely and forward in the mix although hardly surprising- Trevor himself produced the sound of the DVD recording. Get the book, you won't be disappointed.
  18. Watching this vid reminds me just how cool a black and white Ricky looks. Proper cool band, pre social media, smartphones etc.
  19. It is an absolutely stonking bassline and a great song too. I only remember that one song.
