1.
Would this work? Or would we just get laughed at?
Yes, I think it would work. (i) You might get laughed with if the project were delivered with sufficient irony that the audience would be unsure whether you were taking it wholly seriously and even if you were they might cut you some slack. (ii) No chubsters. So that's me out.
 2. Hartke Transporter TP410 bass cab £70 collected or meet Fully functional and ready to gig. Hartke lightweight 4 x10 inch cab 300w / 8 ohms. Bought from Shaggy of BassChat a few years ago and used for a few rehearsals. Very light for its size, loud and surprisingly punchy. Delivers zing or thud to choice. Standard 1/4" jack input + extension cab output. Some minor cosmetic issues – small speaker grille dent, some cat scratch fluffing on edge. Cash on collection from BA15 or will meet or will deliver within 100 miles of BA15 for petrol costs Any questions, please feel free to PM me
 3. Graham bought a guitar case and a Danelectro from me. Nice easy transaction with no problems. He is recommended not only as a Gentleman but also as a top dude with whom one may transact in complete confidence.
 4.
You are joking me? I've got one each of them. Well, i say I have, they're the wife's and she won't sell them. Bugger....
Here you go - completed listings on ebay uk for dansette tempos. Mostly around £200. A red one went for £511
 5. Doom. Rig of Doom. Run for your lives.
 6. Paul bought two fx pedals from me. Easiest of transactions, no problems and excellent comms. He is an all-round good egg, a gentleman and a pillar of the forum.
 7. men8idw bought my Ampeg combo. Nice easy transaction, no problems and a complete gentleman.
 8.
If i had £350,000 to spend i'd buy an old Dansette and a pile of 45s and still have £349,950 left to spend on far better things than some fancy hi-fi.

Me too!
That's a bugger; you could have a Dansette for a nixer. I hauled one off to the charity shop about a fortnight ago. The stacker didn't work but everything else did. And despite the fact it runs off an EL84 and I had a new stylus, it sounded like absolute sh*t. Apparently they sell on the Bay for £100+, twice that for the rarer Red / Cream or Royal Blue versions. 19 gns it cost in the early 60's which is about£350,000 in today's money.
 9. I am very much liking those lyre-topped tuner plates. The rest of it too, mind. But there's something quite charming about them.
 10.
The travelling wilburys where the epitome of everything I dislike about the 'going back to your roots' thing. Horrid stuff.
[derail] In an alternative universe they'd have turned Jeff Lynne away at the door and hired almost anyone else to produce them. Rick Rubin, perhaps, given his sterling, stripped down work with Cash. Even Nick Lowe would have done a better job. And a shout out for the late Vic Maile for his production work on the first three Feelgoods albums [/derail]
 11.
If you are using a 100W+ amp in a rehearsal the usual reason for not hearing is that you are standing too close to your amp and it is pointing at your ankles not your ears. Tipping it back and pointing it at your ears will help a lot.
Ran a tilt-back 100w Ampeg SS combo like that for years. Did pub gigs too, up against various drummers, a Bluesbreaker combo and a harpist with a Blues DeVille. If one also aims to get the mids through and doesn't expect much in the way of bottom-end oomph it's reasonably practical, depending on the genre.
 12.
Going really well so far. Sounds f***ing huge!
Good luck to you, Sir.
 13. Outstanding thread. Hope you all had a brilliant gig!
 14. OMFG! It is a year since I bought a compressor from Clarky and I did not give feedback. Shame on me. He is a trustworthy buyer and seller in whom one may place complete confidence; a gentleman from the top of his head to the tips of his toes.
 15.
The guide was a fanatical Ramones fan and was quite upset that I didn't get them at all. To me they sound like The Searchers.
I suspect you may have been exposed to more than your fair share of 'Joey Songs' - that is to say the poppy, jangly stuff he'd get on to the albums in the face of stiff opposition from Johnny.
