1.
student discount?
Please PM all queries to the official ticket agent StraightSix Enterprises. .
2.
Who's selling the tickets...?
Good point. Thanks for volunteering.
3.
You forgot the pussy.
Possibly. I also had to edit for a couple of other suggestions. We'll probably have to improvise the pussy thing.
4. Just so we're clear, here's the plan for dealing with this bloke:

OP lures him to a deserted warehouse
Politely informs him OP is "no longer in the band"
Chrismuzz slaps him with his cock
Spike kicks him in the nuts
Steve injects his bell-end with mercury
Ed S knocks him out
I shoot him in the face
Jake eats his liver
Followed by live music and disco till 1am. Cash bar, free parking. Tickets £10 in advance (£12 on the door) .
5. I'd have lured him to a deserted warehouse and shot him in the face.
6. More info here: http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/pawnshopamps
7. I've always avoided Ernie Ball because the guitar strings are sh*t. But this might change my mind.
8.
I don't really expect everyone to become automatically convinced, but I'm also offering my experience as an independent experimenter with no interest at stake other than knowledge for it's own sake.
Were the assertion coming from Watford valves or 'Guitarist', I'd flip my hand negligently in the air and go 'la la la'. That a man of good standing such as yourself has given it a go and heard some sort of difference, I'm more inclined to suspend my disbelief and allocate some credence to the proposition.
9. To be fair, the sound on those Agnew / Superchamp vids is pretty awful. I'm sure they both sound lovelier in the flesh. In any case a Tweed Champ is a seriously different beast to a Superchamp - circuits here: http://www.stratopastor.org.uk/strato/amps/twoseriesfenders/super_champ_schematic.jpg http://www.classictubeamps.com/Champ%20A.JPG The Superchamp may indeed cost 4 times more than the Agnew but one (possible) justification is that it's got 5,887 more components and eighteen miles more wire. But which sounds better is very much a matter of taste and preference. For example, I love the 'Tweed' sound on record, but it always seems very muddy 'in the room', which is how I've (thankfully) avoided laying out silly money on those occasions when the Tweed GAS has struck.
10. Any instrument that I buy must come from a smoke-free, pet-free environment; no high-cholesterol cooking (the stink of chip fat has been known to send me into a swoon). No red-top newspapers (ink transfer to the fretboard); no porn (partly for similar reasons to the newspaper thing, but principally because of the objectification of women); no magnolia decor (the residual vibes stifle my creativity) and a seller who supports inclusive, progressive social policies.
11. Seeing as that Ibanez appears to have a floating bridge, I'd be thinking about sticking it to the the guitar top with some double-sided sellotape. Stops it walking around when you go into full whole-tone wang mode. You may get odd overtones from the string length between the bridge and the trem's roller bar.Thread a bit of cloth between the strings to damp them. And definitely a roller bridge. I got one off the bay for about £12.00 - there's more than one version so make sure the post-hole size is compatible with the existing studs. Rotating a Bigsby arm through 180 degrees so that it points towards the back of the guitar solves most gigbag issues. .
12. CAN'T COOK, CAN'T CROOK Midget chef in hot water Disgraced TV Chef 'Wozza' Thompson poured his heart out today in a heartfelt plea for understanding: "I am so sorry for all my recent stupid and irresponsible actions. Buying that Victor Wooten DVD was an act of madness. I was watching it and he started thumping the strings. At that point I got so angry that I came over all giddy and had a black-out, like. Next thing I knew, I was in Tesco's and this lump of cheese was talking to me. It said: "I'm so lonely. Don't leave me here on the shelf. Take me home with you. It's what Victor would want." So I put the cheese in the bag and some bloke came up and asked me if I'd paid for it and I said "No. Victor Wooten made me do it." I am, of course, devastated for my family and friends, whom I've let down, and will seek the treatment that is clearly needed. I shall never watch bass instructional videos again" .
13.
I don't know why your still trying to ask this question
Men of a certain age get a bee in their bonnet about things. For me, it's the price of cheese at Tesco. It's gone up to £2.50 for 500g of 'medium' cheddar but you still see these idiots buying the stuff. Can't they see how stupid they are? PriceDrop my arse.
14. That's some serious chambering Mounting that Schaller might be problematic if it's designed for a conventional TOM that sits above the body. This is turning out to be quite an interesting project.
15.
what about this instead?
Not seen one of those before. Very interesting - bit like a Stetsbar only better. Bit difficult to tell from the pic of the strat, but is that tuneomatic recessed into the body?
16. ... and a B7 still needs a couple of screws to go into the top of the guitar. AFAIK, the Bigsby's that don't need screwing into the top are single roller bar versions - B3, B6, B11. The string height coming off the top of the roller would probably be too high for a conventional Strat's bridge height and neck pitch. TBH, the best approach would be to get some wood into the chambers to support some top screws. Depends on access, though. Some pics of this Warmoth Strat could be useful at this point
17. We moved house a while ago (4 yrs) and I haven't got anywhere to put my guitar amps. And it's a rent, so no annoying the neighbours. So they're still mostly wrapped up Worst Guitar Rig Shot Ever .
18. Welcome Emily From Banbury, spiritual home of Fairport Convention and birthplace of - er - Gary Glitter
19. These Peavey Bandits are insanely good value and fast acquiring legendary status. My mate and I once had an 'amp' evening when we ran various combinations of stuff. The Bandit trounced virtually every big-name amp. In the end we agreed it sounded just as nice as my Blackface Bassman. Which depressed me slightly Buy this amp now. It'll be the best £40 you'll ever spend.
20. 20 minutes to write a song that could connect with millions? I can do it in under half that time and restring a bass into the bargain. Including checking the intonation. So don't give me all that bollocks. As for the 'distillation' thing, well, I'm vastly talented and I've had a far more interesting life than most people, so that might help, I suppose. But it also means that - pro rata - my songs are better than everyone elses. Do I care that nobody hears them? Do I f**k. Don't feel sorry for me. I'm fabulously wealthy, so money isn't my 'thing'. For me, it's all about the moral high ground and I'm top of that heap. .
21. After I left graduated, I spent a year trying to find a job. After dozens of abortive interviews, I ended up in front of a guy who asked all the usual questions, looked a bit bored and started to wrap up. This is how the last 2 mins went: "So," says he. "Really, with a degree, you're a bit overqualified (for a sales job). I think you've come a long way for nothing, tbh." "Oh" (faintly) "Says on your CV, you like music. What do you play?" "Guitar" "Electric or acoustic?" "Electric" "What do you play?" "Telecaster" "Rosewood or maple neck" "Maple" "I prefer rosewood myself. Soaks up the sweat. When can you start?" And that's how I got my first job. So much for degrees. .
22. I do not believe that a 'conventional' degree is quite the passport to success that many would aver it to be, other than those which are vocationally necessary, such as law, medicine, the sciences, etc. To my mind, the applicability of a music degree as described by the OP sits somewhere between the conventional and the vocational. To casually dismiss it as a frippery while ignorant of the specifics would be unwise, since the practical value has been convincingly outlined by others - association, immersive study, etc. If the OP is sufficiently motivated to give music a shot, I fail to see how that is less life-relevant than studying American History or the Classics. As for having a plan B; the danger in falling back on an alternative is not simply that it dilutes one's commitment in the present. It is that in future years one can be left with a feeling that one didn't quite give the first choice one's best shot. We live in the moment and the future is entirely unpredictable. If the OP's chances are enhanced to any small amount by their choice of study and it will make them happy for the next few years, then they should embrace it to the full. .
23. Ebay. Search 'Vintage' and your efforts will be rewarded. .
24. Extract of whale liver-oil leaves a lovely shiny finish on almost anything. And makes a tasty hot beverage too!
25. Milk away, Sir. I played some of your band's output to my guitar-chum, who remarked "Ooh. Nice rhythm section. Proper for that sort of stuff." .
