My 1966 Rickenbacker 360/12 Fireglo for sale or trade
skankdelvar replied to jsixties's topic in Basses For Sale
I can understand why some might feel the need for caution as Javier is new here. But I agree that certain enquiries might best be handled via PM, as the content of open posts could be misinterpreted out of context (as may have happened here, however politely expressed) and might shade the sale. FWIW, it should be noted that Javier has a 100% positive ebay score with 234 transactions. He's also offered it to us here at 195 euro less than the ebay BIN price, which seems very fair. Should one have reservations, the solution is straightforward - buy via ebay and use paypal. Now that's done, will someone kindly lend me two and a half notes so I can buy this Rick? -
Hi Nostromo - and welcome Sounds like you've got yourself a nice rig there - may your licks be ever bountiful. As regards the Hofner question, may be worth your while searching 'hofner' (and / or re-posting your query) down in the 'basses' sub-forum. Also check out the 1968 Hofner in the 'Basses for sale' section - it'll give you an idea of how silly things can get round here. Enjoy

I love that matching headstock. Want. Now.

FWIW, I don't much like the look of the Fly guitar. Yet I really like the look of that bass. And I'm a stodgy old Fenderhead. Weird.
Cheers, hope that answers your question, sort of? :0)
Thanks - yes, it does.

All this sounds good, Ped. It seems that many problems seem to stem from non-observance of 'The Guidelines'. I'm thinking specifically about vendettas against mods, failure to 'agree to disagree'. Will the guidelines be amended and / or strengthened, maybe by an appropriate reference in the T&C's?
Also, whats latching?
Indeedy. What this latching thing? One of these? My collection of interesting antique and modern latches runs into the thousands. I'm trying to get a BassChat 'Latches' sub-forum started with regular 'Latch-bash' swap-meets. Welcome to the Forum

Glad you enjoyed your squier so much. Although I'm highly unlikely to venture onto the highwire that is 'Fretless', I'd def start with one like yours. If I did, I might add a pickguard though, just to manage peoples' expectations.

Bridge and pick-up covers look a bit shiny (might have been removed and stored in the case for 40 years), as do the pot knobs, but could just be a well looked-after example. You'd have to go round and give it a prod to be absolutely sure...

OK, here's the deal. We've identified a number of problems with BGM, so now why don't we do something about it. Proposition: BGM identifies where they may feel they have shortcomings in specialist knowledge, reviewer availability, proofing (technical and typos), etc etc. In exchange for ad space and a regular feature sponsor cred, BC co-ordinates the provision of specialist assistance necessary to make good the shortfalls. Contributing BC-ers to get a credit in a "contributor" list on the masthead. In broader terms, BC could also help to co-ordinate a BGM user group, to offer some general steer. Benefits BGM - gets free additional editorial support and editorial intelligence BC - gets free promotion and builds bridges with another media owner BC-ers - get to enhance the publication and see their name in print, while helping BC to promote itself Cost Zero - time only
It's just a shame because I was really looking forward to this gig. Well, specifically I was looking forward to playing with this particular drummer, but I guess that ship has sailed. S.P.
Bummer, that. Maybe you can sort something out with him anyhow...easier to do without the albatross of a crap gig round everyone's necks... May your chops be ever fruitful

Sorry to hear it, SP. You'll be doing exactly the right thing by cancelling with plenty of notice. Let your friend have a nice wedding day - that's the most important consideration. And, let's face it, the crowd probably wouldn't fancy 90 mins of solo bass - not even the esteemed Messrs Wooten or Manring

Really happy for you Bilbo - fill us in on how it goes, eh?

FWIW, Jon Bon Jovi threatened his (increasingly chubby) bass player with the sack unless he had liposuction.

I was about to say 'Don't do it, you'll devalue it' - until I looked at the pix. That's the most extreme crazing I've ever seen on a poly finish Fender - might be that it's already been repainted, 'cos I ain't seen one like that before! Don't think a refin would hurt. As for 100% orig - unsure whether the vol, vol, tone knobs are original...others such as muskie or wateroftyne would be among your best guides on this

By strange coincidence, that just happened to me last night. Apparently "we can't have two leaders in the band - it will only end in trouble". What part of "It's your band, you choose the material, arrangements, keys and musical direction. Image, gigging frequency - over to you. Want to borrow an amp; no worries. I'm here to support you as the bandleader" didn't they understand? Ah well, onward and upward.... (Starts searching websites) - good luck, yaself!
FWIW, I read your initial post way back before you edited it, and I didn't think it was misleading. Just sayin'.
Agreed. Storm > Teacup. But it's a no-win. If he actually was playing bass for Take That, he'd probably have experienced a 'musical integrity' derailment Good luck with the tour!

BadAss bass bridges? I wouldn't know fer sure, but I played Deaver's Fender that had a bad-ass and it definitely sounded a bit more 'modern' and tight. But here's a tale... For years guitarists cheerfully replaced lightweight Gibson wraparound combo bridge / tailpieces with badass guitar bridges to enhance intonation-ability. And the extra mass was perceived as a benefit, for it 'increased sustain' Then one day the cry went out to the assembled multitudes - "There's too much mass in a bad-ass. And they're over-engineered. And that robs tone. You need lightweight, low mass bridges in order to transfer maximum string resonance to the body". So lots of guitarists swapped out their zinc bad-asses for lightweight aluminium 'Pigtail' bridges. And lo, they were happy, for their tone was now good. Or so they believed.

First thing to do is get away from the idea of head + cab. A small 1x12 30-50w valve combo should do the job - loads around. Mesas , as mentioned above, are fantastic - Fenders can be a little shrill without some tweaking. And a Rivera R55 is b*stard loud and delivers fender clean to modern filth. £300-ish secondhand? And you just about can take it on the bus. Open backed 1x12's can be a bit directional and lose punch off-axis. To help, ensure its placed about 1 - 2 feet from a wall and it should disperse nicely. A weber beam-blocker also helps with dispersal, I'm told.
No need, I told you, I accept your opinion. But I don't agree with you.
There - all sorted. Everybody's happy.
