1. While I'm in two minds about both U2 (sometimes great, sometimes dull) and Bono (good causes, but he does go on), I would like to offer the following observation: I saw them at Earl's Court a few years ago and the audience had the highest proportion of fit women I've ever seen at a rock gig. And the overall M:F ratio was about 50:50. So they're doing something right.
2.
I just messaged him and he tried to sell me his sister, said something about love me long time,no honey no funny!
Me too. I await his response with...er...interest.
3. Def something like Nitromors on the back - you can see where it's run...and his ad says "We don't sell fake fender".
4.
Yes, like night and day, totally worth it. Since you posted the same question in two forums it seems you want to go with whichever gives you the answer you like best. The least I could do is give you two answers to choose from.
If you check some of the other responses, Bill, you'll see the sort of assistance he was looking for.
5. Their prices and service must be exceptional to prompt someone to join a forum to tell us all about it. And here's the other post: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=42558&hl= Very thoughtful, thank you.
6. Broadcasting a disparaging view on either picks or fingers is that tell-tale, giveaway sign of being a know-nothing numpty, straight off the boat. I've just got into the weird situation of a pick feeling sort of 'wrong' for me after 35 years playing. Mind you, minute we up the speed, out comes the pick.
7.
I stopped paying attention to anything to do with the enemy, I mean NME, when I stopped being a teenager.
Me too. That was in 1978. After a while you realise the NME's always going to be a bunch of self-important, no-hoper style plagiarists w*nking themselves into a frenzy over a band they'll be savaging 6 months later. The music press is a swaybacked harlot with a propensity for licking toilet floors. And that's the good side of it....
8. I'm rather disappointed. I expected skin and hair to be flying by now and yet..... ...radio silence
9. In the old days, some in the gay community would indicate their preferences by sporting different coloured hankies in their back pocket. Silks fulfil the same function among bass players - e.g. : 3 Yellow + 1 Blue = GAS-ing for a fretless Red and Yellow = Will play country for cash All Red on a 4 string = 5-curious
10. Why not try the Hartke LH500 - it's part of that whole new Hartke range alongside the hydrive cab you've bought and is presumably designed to interact as a combination. Additionally, they've got rave reviews on here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=26831&hl=lh500 OK, they're not light, but they are rack-mountable, and the sound is described by other bc-ers as warm and full. What's more, they're cheap as chips - circa £240-300 online and around. Amazed the shop didn't try to sell you one...
apologies for the bad language! beat that!
See that - he's got a popped disc and a hernia
12. * Jamerson Precision and Ronnie Lane Zemaitis. Not because I want one, but so their families (Zemaitis included) might make a few bob out of it. * Andy Fraser EB0 * Foxton Rick * Duck Dunn Precision * Entwistle Fenderbird
13. Another option is to get w*nkered, steal a tank and drive it through their pub
14. Y'know, someone got that back from the luthier's and thought "God, it looks so good now." sigh....
15. Dunno if they're the right size or exactly what you want, but GFS (aka Guitar fetish) do Lipstick tubes in single and humb format... http://store.guitarfetish.com/prlipi.html

Hi

Welcome. Having one less string to worry about makes all the difference!
18. NO!!!!!!!! PLEASE DON'T MOD IT (Sorry about that - had to get your att'n) Highly prized and desired by certain guitards. One for sale in Australia - $399. They have one sound and one sound only - as per Radiohead, etc. There's no mod you can do to it that won't reduce it's value or improve the sound. Just wrap it in tissue paper, stick it on the bay and buy a boutique, high-end modern jobbie with cash left over.
19. This one's a killer: What's so funny bout peace love and understanding - Costello version. Best bass line ever. IMO.
20.
One of the regulars on my forum reported how he internally divided the 4x12 guitar cabs used by his sons band into two vertical sections, then added a switch to run either just two vertical drivers or all four. He did not tell them what the switch did. They vastly prefer the sound of the two drivers only. Four tens vertically aligned, in two well designed 2x cabs for ease of transport, will outperform an 8x10 in every way. They'd also cost a lot less, and be far easier to transport. Which option do you think bass cab companies would rather sell? And which do you think those same companies will provide their endorsers with to push said sales? Engineering issues aside the bottom line with any manufacturer will always be the bottom line.
So I could just buy two 2x10's and forget about the hard hat...result!
21.
...I need to work out a very short solo in the repeat-to-fade bit, for when the singer says "...and Chris on bass...". If you have any ideas...
...The Sailor's Hornpipe?
22.
....Thanks to the internet the average muso as well will eventually know that horizontal sources are bogus and demand for vertically aligned driver bass and guitar cabs will drive the 'old standards' off the market.
I hope that the vertically aligned SVT 8x10 will come with a free hard-hat...
23. That's a keen price. Shame I'm GAS-ed out.
24.
Drivers mounted side by side leads to comb filtering in the high frequencies, and of more significance halves the dispersion angle in the midrange compared to a single driver or a vertical alignment of multiple drivers.
Gen question, not a flame: Why is vertical better than horizontal? If two speakers are adjacent, surely the comb filtering is going to occur irrespective of their alignment? If I drop two stones into a pond, the ripples will intersect at some point, wherever I drop the stones. You could also argue that in a 4x10, 2 pairs of speakers are, in fact, mounted vertically. Does that offset the same two pairs that are mounted horizontally? If this is the case, would 2 diagonally mounted speakers be 50% better than horizontal but 50% worse than vertical? Also, on that basis, is there an optimum space between two adjacent speakers? Or would it simply be better to use only one speaker to avoid comb filtering altogether?
