1. So let me get this straight - you booked it as a party and (barring a misunderstanding) he's wrapped a pay to play night round you. My condolences. Some might call him a weasel-featured spawn of satan and I might agree. But full marks for initiative.
2. ...and that's without even getting into the 'feel / tone' issues of: * Break angles over the nut and the bridge * Distance from nut to tuner, saddle to end fixing point * Low string height for 'playability' vs higher for 'brightness' * Other abstruse issues understood only by the likes of Dan Erlewine In any case, this whole titanium things sounds like the work of the devil. It's been downhill all the way since they stopped making strings from soup and donkey-gut.
3. Suggest you also have a look at the Wiki on this - there are imminent issues regarding Ofcom selling off certain radio frequencies in the next few years, which will include some of those used by wireless systems. You may soon find your chosen system obsolete !
4. Two things here: * It's perfectly normal (whatever skill level you're at) for your 'abilities' to vary a bit from week to week, or even day to day. Even world-class players have off days and on-days. Nothing unusual. * As with any long-term learning process, you'll go through 4 stages: 1 Unconscious incompetence - you're not doing as well you could, but you don't even realise 2 Conscious incompetence - you realise you could be doing better than you are 3 Unconscious competence - you're doing better but you don't know why 4 Conscious competence - you're happy with your playing and you know what you have to do to keep improving You're probably on the cusp of stages 2 > 3. It's just a matter of time. (FWIW, I'm just about at the same stage as you - after 33 yrs) And if it makes you feel any better (or worse) - the more years you're playing, the more there is to learn...
5. Tell him to poke it. Has money changed hands yet?
6. Enjoy your bass and have a Happy Christmas
7. Hi and welcome. Good luck with the new band.
8. That's craftsman's work that is - lovely bit of Artex-ing.
9. ...or you could buy a pair of tiltback legs from Fender (they come in three sizes) and screw them to the side of whatever combo you like: http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0990714000. Google 'Fender tiltback legs' for more on this, inc fitting.
10. Hate to be neg, but it looks a bit sanded to me.
11.
It is one of these and it rocks!
Try putting a wedge under one of the feet. Hey Presto, problem solved!
12.
This is my one. I had it for sale in the for sale section, funnily enough, but have decided to put it on ebay. I've not asked for the other one to be deleted as I may bring it back over here or I may not. I have noted in the title that it is now on ebay though to keep everything right or did I. I didn't not want to decide to not list the bass neither for fear of not confusing none of the people wot aren't not disinterested in not buying this bass. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=004
Sadly, I'm not disinterested in not buying this fine machine. Not that I'm not averse to not showing an interest in it, but neither am I unaware of the negative impact on my savings, due to declining interest rates. It's not that I'm not interested, it's just that my lack of interest is due to a lack of interest
13. Here's to international relations. Merry Christmas, one and all.
14. Never played either of them, but I've noticed the VMJ getting a good rap on here. Also seen a few in the for sale forum - might save you a few bob...
15. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's gnarly.
16. I've changed my mind. You're a back-stabbing treacherous slack-a$$ed malcontent with the integrity of Judas Iscariot, the credibility of Barney The Dinosaur and the personal hygiene of Albert Steptoe and there's no blazing pit of Hades deep or hot enough for you! FFS, Stop beating yourself up. 1) It's only rock'n'roll 2) The others bailed before you did 3) The band leader called you at the last minute to tell you not only that the others had dropped out (days before in one case) but that you'd be dicking around on the bottom string of a Ukelele and banging on some bongos like a reefer-crazed Jazzbo. Obviously a ploy. 4) Your Missus was feeling crook. Stack it up and it's a no-brainer. Sure, if it were a big showcase / well-paid gig and you called him and blew out on the afternoon with no excuse, then he'd have a case for giving you the swerve. Get him to call me. I'll put him straight.
17.
I had to pop into Tonbridge this morning, to reclaim some property from the police station.
Love the teaser intro...
18.
+1 I'm not really too fussed what a bunch of Americans want to do with there money anyway.
Neither am I, unless it's GM putting Vauxhall workers on 30% pay for 9 mths. Suspected TB might take this view - they seem a bit more normal than us weird, shouty Brits on BC, plus there's all sorts of potential legal ramifications in the Home Of The Brave And The Land Of The Lawyers.
19. It's a statistical probability. Particularly if, like me, you only ever use G, E and Bb.
20. Get proper legal advice, either from Geek 99 or wherever he steers you. BC can only take you so far
21. Don't see how it's a case of pulling out at the last minute, when you didn't know about it till he told you. He asked if you're available. You aren't. Rather than say yes to the promoters, his response to them should be "I'll get back to you" End of problem.
22. Rick forum has (not unsurprisingly) a list of players past, present, famous, otherwise: http://www.rickenbacker.com/forum_view_thr...0Bass%20Players And it's cos they sound pumpy and look real purty.
