1.
I think the big chief would prefer a selection of Jamiroquai's finest Ha. Ha. HAHAHAHA.
As his intended and general honeybunch cutie-pie, you'd know best. BTW, I've got that on vinyl. It's a double A-side.
2.
dont want any comments on whether or not you like them or whatever else, just interested comments please...cheers Craig
OK, I'll keep mum. Not a word will pass my lips. Don't have a view. Really. Silent as the grave. No, won't say a thing, honest. Promise. Totally not commenting. Please accept a opinion-free bump and good luck with your sale.
3. I note that he's changed the one liner under his picture, the sly dog. Dibs for the toaster.
4. Copyright that headstock. It's the most original design I've seen in years. No seriously! - not just being nice. Do it. Do it now! I'd buy one of those. No offence intended to whoever you showed it to but - WRONG!!!!!!!
5. Croikey! What a beaut! And very tasteful...
6. Stunning work, you guys. This tssr is so dead.
7.
I'd like a poll on that. And you haven't said what sort of sheep.
A Welsh Mountain Badger Faced Sheep. The almost embarrassingly polite kind.
8.
were they any good?didnt seem to last long as a company or were they bought out?must be worth a few bob surely!
At the time, they were seen as pretty high-end for a British built guitar. Highest profile user was probably Mike Rutherford. Shergold had a long-ish (10 years?) and commercially chequered history - one of the last of the UK-based volume builders. There's at least one Shergold fan site out there... Some 'enthusiasts' will chase Shergolds to the ends of the earth, others think they're firewood. Prices reflect this...
9. Just make the holes bigger. Cheaper. But don't drill. Have a look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reamer Then nip off down to a DIY store or do the interwebz shopping thing. I'd lend you mine, but I lost it.
10.
I'm being facetious but seriously, there aren't that many good bassists here.
Not being facetious either , but not many compared to where? We need a poll.
11.
Can I therefore now please have a sticky poll as whether or not I should have a poll about the fact that I had a big old strop last week; kind of a retrospective poll, if you will.
Sorry, but that wasn't a strop. No offence intended, but compared to some of the stuff that's been flying around here, it was like a sheep clearing its throat on a distant hillside.
12. PM Waldo. He's well up on this stuff.
13.
I was born and raised in London, and I've played around a bit. There are probably not more than 50 good bass players here.
One less since I left. And I know - I went round and counted. 48, there were.
14. Just had a look at this Allen-Baker's 12 posts. Pretty much all about buying / selling. Maybe checking post content's another indicator, when vetting sellers?
15. Or find a bass amp with midi (is there one?) and use a pedal board mounted midi controller with presets?
16.
I bought this. it's original OK, but there were lots of issues that weren't listed on the auction. Weighs a ton but has the most amazing tone. It's with Andy Viccars now for a refret and a little cosmetic magic - I'll post pics when it comes back around christmas time, Col
Hope you enjoy it lots
17.
I definitely think reuel should be allowed to keep that £100 for customs. Let's face it, if you imported a bass of that price into the UK you'd pay more than that in customs. I think he should be allowed that, if just for his hard time.
+1. Let's keep it happy here folks.
18. London's not necessarily better - but there's just more of everything - people, venues, bands, studios. So the community is bigger. Thus more opportunities. As regards where to live - everywhere's expensive, but for your purposes I'd stay North of the river (better public transport into Central London and less of a schlep if you want to get a train to Leeds) and find somewhere within walking distance of a tube station - fastest way to get around.
19. Hi and welcome. ....er, that's it.
20. First off, try fender uk - they may have a set. If not you could get the train up to Denmark St in London and try Rockers or one of the other shops, where you could buy 2 packs of strat knobs (Vol, Tone, Tone) leaving you with 3 spare knobs. or fire up yer browser and go to: http://www.allparts.uk.com/plastic-knobs/f..._91_98_100.html ...and buy a 2 pack of tone and a 2 pack of vol, leaving you with only one spare (tone) knob. Probably considerably cheaper, if you take into account the train fare. And they're nice guys, so give them a call first to check that the knobs will fit the pot shaft. You then 'age' the spare in a jar of cold tea (no milk) for a month and sell it on the bay as genuine 50's strat knob for £150.00
21. Welcome here! Hope you enjoy yourself...
22.
I suppose there's a marketing angle on the old 'Reassuringly Expensive' angle its what Rickenbacker did.
Aren't Ricks just 'reassuringly unavailable due to production backlog and overwhelming demand'. (NB - Not a slag-off - I like them lots. But don't own one.)
23. Well, at least he's posted some of the queries...but he won't be getting "£1000" for it.... In fact, rather than flog a possibly dubious beater, might he be better off selling the neck separately?
