  1. I heartily support the OP's right to a negative opinion and the freedom to express it. This is a discussion forum, all opinions are valid. Some perspective required, indeed.
  2. Masked Jackal by Coroner. It made a big impression on me as a young lad and I still love seeing Ron's fingers flying around the fretboard while he sings at the same time.
  3. I voted yesterday and it was ok. It's showing me the current scores now just fine.
  4. A while ago, I realised I was fed up with drum machines, so bought a kit again and re-started learning drums. Of course, after selling my old kit a few years ago I sold all my old mics and outboard gear too. This is my first go at anything with my cheapest-of-the-cheap T-Bone and Behringer replacement gear 😁 When I first looked at the picture, I zoomed in and saw the drummer was called Illegal Al and, well... it stuck. I reckon Illegal Al plays some kind of obnoxious space jazz, of course and you'll be excused for screaming, not that anyone will hear you.
  5. I had a knot in a fingerboard before, it didn't bother me either. In fact, I thought it made the aesthetics more interesting. It had no effect on the functionality so, no problemo.
  6. We were talking about Thomann, no? Thomann charge you the UK VAT rate if you're in the UK, not the German VAT rate. That is all.
  7. Trust me. They apply the local VAT rate depending on the location of the buyer, in line with EU law.
  8. You are definitely, 100%, charged your local tax rate.
  9. Thomann charge you, as a private UK individual, the UK VAT rate. EU law states that VAT is charged at the rate of the country the customer is resident in.
  10. Since they're mentioned in the short gigs thread... albums by Nails don't hang around Abandon All Life - 10 songs - 17 minute Unsilent Death - 10 songs - 13 minutes You Will Never Be One Of Us -10 songs - 21 minutes
  11. I'll shoehorn in one under the term "Mercifully short gigs" - Ian Brown in the Olympia in Dublin, touring his debut solo album Unfinished Monkey Business, refusing to play any Stone Roses material. The second time they played their shambolic cover of Thriller was the clincher. It was over in under an hour, thankfully.
  12. And of that small number, what percentage cared?
  13. Guigsy from Oasis dropped out more than once, I recall, only to come back again.
  14. Deicide - Legion 29:01 of deity-bashing fury.
  15. David Ellefson co-founded Megadeth in the early-80's and was with the band until they split in 2002, after which he tried to sue the other co-founder and failed. The band reformed a couple of years later and he was not part of the party until he returned as a hired goon in 2010.
  16. I never realised he and Tony Iommi were so close https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/black-sabbath-tony-iommi-eddie-van-halen-interview-1073082/?fbclid=IwAR1TJbUEhPQ2irjkemnbb-HF05-SGDN-uSPChFbIZZ_McRrS1tJaFtplM3o
  17. Do: Quadrophenia - It's the only one I can think of that works from the first note to the last note. Don't: all the others. They're usually a failure of quality control, rather than someone genuinely having too much quality material for one album. Mellon Collie and Use Your Illusion have been mentioned and they're ones from my lifetime notable for having one outrageously brilliant album diluted with filler. Stadium Arcadium would struggle to be distilled into a good EP.
  18. Yes, this kind of thing or some tasty, pointy headed Charvels
  19. Perhaps a smidge too late, I see, but late 80's Ibanez SRs and SBs are the future as seen through the eyes of the past. A SR800 or SR1000 will have your back in any fight, while the SB900 or SB1200 can take any out an eye in the blink of an... well, you get what I'm saying. None of us are getting any younger so their light weight is just right for our ageing cuff rotators. Plus, the necks are slim but not super skinny so they're easy to adjust to. Matsumoku is for broken shouldered hipsters who can't raise their left arm over their head anymore, while all the cool kids hang out at Fujigen 😁
