  1. I bought an “as is” 89 SR1000 over the weekend with (potentially) a borked truss rod and blown preamp... from Japan. I think it was the free shipping which pushed me to do it. That and the bottle of wine. Hey, nobody forced me to drink it, so it’s all on me. If you buy it, pay for it and you and the seller get on with your lives. Very simple. I’d love to know what percentage of ebay purchases are fuelled by booze 😂
  2. Update whatever anti-virus or malware applications you have and run a full scan of your PC and external drive, just in case. As for the mail, does it mention your name or any personal information or is it entirely generic?
  3. That’s quite tasty! Congratulations! 😎
  4. Waiting for the CD + DVD version to arrive from the US. For some reason, I couldn't order it from the European shop.
  5. EU 1 - Gibson 0 http://bravewords.com/news/gibson-loses-flying-v-trademark-case-in-eu-general-court
  6. Just picked up tickets for The Contortionist in August and Sacred Reich in December.
  7. I would have said it was “too Fender”. What was the real purpose of it? What gap in the market was it filling? Why would you pick it over something like an L2000? It was nice to see them try something different but it came across as half-hearted to me. I’d love to see them try something innovative (not just innovative for FMIC) and actually stick with it, develop it. The Dimension just looked like a lazy attempt to elbow some space into a crowded market space. The problem they have, by regurgitating the same old stuff again and again, is that they are not just in competition with other brands, but also with the similar old stuff they previously made. That stuff is often plentiful and cheap, before you get into the murky and illogical clouds of original-vintage-rare. The more of the identikit stuff they make, the more of it is already out there. If that model worked they wouldn’t be in such poor financial shape.
  8. Triumph of Death playing Hellhammer in Frankfurt and Yob playing Yob in Wiesbaden. Great gigs both, but seeing Tom playing a Hellhammer set was quite special. Sadly, The Obsessed cancelled what would have made an incredible hat-trick but it was a fantastic trip regardless. Heading abroad for gigs is rapidly becoming my favourite thing.
  9. Looking at how the intonation is set on the bridge, I’d guess it has been used as a lefty too, hence the nut crime, so look for a big screw hole in the lower horn to go with the other violations.
  10. You’ll be able to have your fill of crooked and bent necks once the nasty EU Man isn’t demanding necks be uniform and straight, tormenting the ghost of Willy Brandt.
  11. Thank you very much for listening 🙂
  12. This is some stuff I put out with a mate at the start of the year. It’s slow and heavy but we worked hard to give it a real melodic edge too. https://witheredfist.bandcamp.com/releases
  13. Boardroom shenanigans from suits who know no other way.
  14. Go for four-conductor wiring humbuckers and run each individual pickup in series.
  15. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss... etc Boardroom new product concepts. Dull. So very dull.
  16. When you positively, absolutely have to shake the whole building from the foundations up.... Not mine, but Aaron Rieseberg from YOB in Wiesbaden tonight.
  17. Currently isling by the river Main. Triumph of Death will play the hits of Hellhammer in a couple of hours. Tomorro, Yob in Mannheim and, Friday, The Obsessed in Wiesbaden, then back to rainy Tipperary. Life ain’t so bad 😁
  18. The first gig I ever went to was Megadeth and Sanctuary in 1988. I wouldn’t be a bassist were it not for his disappearance from the stage for a few minutes which Ellefson filled with the descending bassline for These Boots... He can be a hard man to like but I wish him a full and speedy recovery. Megadeth were a huge part of my teenage years and the first four albums still get regular airings here. He’s incredibly good at what he does when he wants to be.
  19. This, ladies and gentlemen, is clearly 80’s icon Max Headroom who, having finally escaped his digital prison, is enjoying the warm r-r-r-r-r-rays of the sun on his face.
  20. Overdose - AC/DC He just plays one bleedin’ note but it works so well under the guitar chords. It really makes the song.
