Had an SR3006E, build quality was up there for sure, very nicely put together indeed. I still like the look of the grooveline even after seeing the price, I just don't have the money
3.
Actually this is the phrase which annoys me "Thanks very much for playing with us but we feel that due to our own fragility, we need a more solid foundation." I think their saying I'm rubbish
I think they're saying they're arseholes I think they've done you a favour, to be honest. Move on, you're definitely better off out of that situation.
4. If you enjoy playing bass at all don't give up over this. If these guys are playing Wembley in a couple of years then maybe, just maybe, you were the problem... but I'd say you're probably ok. Dust yourself off and get stuck in again
5. To be honest, I'd take confidence/bravado over someone who barely registers a ripple of interest any day.
6.
small, medium or jumbo fretwire
eh... which is it? Good stuff, hope it's everything you wish for!
7. In my band I am the guitarsehole. Can I leave myself? Me confused.
8. No, you keep it so the neighbours know not to mess you about
9. Check yer batteries and leads beforehand and you'll be grand. Good luck!
10. That is very nice indeed.
11. Link us up. Let's see the website. We can't really give a balanced answer otherwise. Ah it sounds like the thrill is gone and you should follow. No-one would write that much if they weren't sick of the situation.
12. Boo-urns.
13. Those of you who picked up one of these, can I ask how you feel about them now, after a few months of living with it? I'm still hearing it call my name.
14. Great bass. If I hadn't bought a SR1300PM a few months ago I'd have gone for this. Good luck with the sale.
15. What's witht he BBC bashing? You don't know how lucky you are!
16. First chorus in Sam & Dave's Soul Man. Oops Still an all-time classic tune.
17. I quite like his tone, even if it's not something I'd live with personally. He still had a lot of body, it wasn't a thin sound. A lot of the bridge pickup imitators have a weedy, ball-less tone but Jaco's still had a bit of ooomph behind it.
18.
Does anyone else find dissatisfaction with almost everything they get ?
Not since I accepted that every different bass has its own characteristics and one bass won't do it all. Now I just need one of everything
19. We play originals. If we ever broke even I'd do a little happy dance. We're clearly not doing it for the money As for covers, no money = no band. I never found playing someone else's tunes quite as enjoyable, would need something to replace the buzz of living or dying on the strength of your own songs.
20.
However, I just can't get my head around my Olympic White Precision with black scratchplate playing this sort of music. I just think punk. I guess I could put the tort plate on which makes it look cream coloured and more retro but in my head its my punk bass that I have slung low and play with a pick
Bob Babbitt, Motown bassist.
21. That sounds like a Precision would be exactly the bass to have. You're just looking for an excuse to GAS out!
22. Mint. Get mint on there.
23. I had a Behringer flanger, dirt cheap, which I sold to buy a Boss one. Big mistake, the Behringer was a much better sounding pedal, though I'd be nervous about gigging it's plastic case for as long as I've gigged the Boss. I've used one of their ADA8000 mic pre units in the studio for seven or eight years now and never had a bit of bother with it.
24.
I have two and am dying to play in company. Just lack confidence.
There's nothing to fear, just get out there and get stuck in. Playing with others will be the most exhilarating (and most infuriating) thing you can do as a musician
25. Search for some setup guides, there are countless ones out there. Read them, understand them, then examine your bass and adjust to your taste. There is no black magic at work here, just a series of simple factors which combine into something which seems to intimidate a lot of people. You can fix this if you just put a bit of time into understanding it.
