1. Ehhhh... 32" isn't exactly small. Good luck to you, sir, I think you're going to need it
2. Definitely shield the cavity and the pickup routes too (connect the pickup route shielding to the cavity route shielding so it's all grounded) to try to minimise the interference and then go after the source. My house has some lights which cause interference, you should test to see what's causing the problem where you are. Here, we have some dimmer-compatible lights which each have a transformer which converts the power to 12V and they cause a lot of noise (on MW radio too), so they're going to be removed. Shielding has helped but it's till a problem for any single coil pickup.
3.
They have a nice second hand CS '55 P bass at Bass Direct.................umm
Shhhhhhh, don't tell anyone about that particular instrument... need money quick
4.
then you've got "Bacchus", really good basses. For the best quality/money/sound ... I'd go for a bacchus ...
This. One of their Woodline J's would fit the bill to a T!
5. We were only following orders... hmmm, heard that before alright Sometimes you've got to be a man, stand up for yourself, and do what you think is right. I've no doubt he would've been under pressure from the wicked witch to do what he did, but that still doesn't make it ok. Maybe he didn't have a problem with it at all? It was a sh*tty thing to do, a sh*tty scheme to be a part of and will always tarnish his legacy and I say this as someone who saw him with ST when they toured with M.O.D. in 89, used to have a lot of time for the guy. I wonder would you be so forgiving if Metallica released a bass-audible version of AJFA with him replacing Newsted? I imagine that'd make Lars happy
6. Was it already repaired? Looks like a sloppy glue job between the neck and fretboard already... and what's the black block where the crack starts?
7. You think he enjoyed replacing Daisley's parts and helping them screw him out of his royalties?
8.
I'm sure Rob knew what he was doing was wrong but if your boss asked you to do something that you didn't agree with, would you say no?
Yes.
9.
Don't waste your time buying a modern Bass, they don't compare at all... ...Save some more money and buy a classic Fender sunburst 5 string
The pre-CBS and vintage 5ers are the best, there can be no doubt about it.
10. Excellent stuff The single coils themselves, do they have a Fendery tone to them or does it carry over the MM character?
11. Tasty. Have you plugged it in yet?
12. Psssssst... it's tomorrow. Are you back yet?
13.
In an ideal world yes, but not when you are incharge of a large cargo ship and 58 crew members.
You could have rocked a shanty or two on your new bass for them... missed opportunity there
14. Is this not perfect justification for a sickie?
15. It's just people chancing their arm, I wouldn't get too worked up about it, part of me believes the gullible should be exploited and this kind of marketing approach seems to appeal to quite a lot of people these days. Kicking ass and having fun just isn't enough anymore unless you're doing it on something which sets you apart from the great unwashed. It draws similarities, to me at least, of the sometimes absurd prices sought (and frequently paid) for vintage basses, where when you say the year of manufacture before the model that the bass is somehow better, or there is some kind of chronological snobbery at play... I grow weary of folks saying "I was playing my 76 Jazz last night"... what are they saying the year for unless there's some kind of self applied kudos to exclusivity which massages the ego just right and gives the owner whatever it is they're missing? So yeah, someone somewhere will get an extra glow from having a rare bass which, hopefully, will be worth the premium they no doubt paid for it. They can tell their buddies that it's not just a Vigier, it's a rare Vigier and, for 90 days, they'll still be able to show the ebay ad as proof
16.
Surely the blame for that one lies with Ozzy?
No, Ozzy's a mediocre bassist.

Yamaha BB's
I've got a BB2024X and it is a seriously good instrument
Yeah, a white one too... very tasty.

Yamaha BB's

Yamahas have never really done it for me but I must say I have a serious lust for the new BB2024X, honestly, it's calling my name, listen...
19. Over here we pay VAT @ 21% plus import duty of 4.3% for instruments and our currency is almost as worthless as rupees. You have it easy over there, stop whinging!
20. A few weeks ago the story was that he had helped the Pastorius family get the bass back, now it seems he owns it but will sell it to them at the price he paid for it? This is the guy who had no problem shafting Bob Daisley, I suppose. Anything's possible.
21. We're putting out an E.P. at the end of July, going to have a launch night for the CD in the Stables in Mullingar on the 31st with the rather excellent Visitor Q, Three Hour Ceasefire and Awaken Dominion. Tis a fine and heavy way to celebrate the bank holiday weekend. 22. Those 55s are unhealthily attractive.
23. Your 5er wasn't the same colour? I might have it now too It's heartening to see three old ESPs in the lists here
24. Well I have some others but these four are the cream of the crop, I'll just have to work on number 5. ESP 400 Series Jazz. My best buddy for almost 20 years. The Sadowsky came and went, the ESP stays for life. Nuff said. + Bacchus Woodline P Classic. More balls than Wimbledon. Bacchus Standard 5. This thing has the tone, you know what I'm talking about. Godlyke Disciple. Spent a bit of time on this just tweaking the setup and rolling the neck edges and it really is a superb bass. Sold the Stingray as a result.
