  1. Nope, I wouldn't say so, not in the digital age where reputations can be made or destroyed quite easily and quickly, i.e. a single social media post about his band playing to no-one, unable to draw an audience, seen by other landlords or promoters, does their reputation no favours at all. Everything you listed as something which could do them good can (and should) be practiced and worked on in a rehearsal room, not figured out on stage and in public.

  6. The basses that I find most interesting these days were made over 10 years after I was born. There's no way I would pay the current asking prices for basses as old as me.

  19. Dirt is one of my favourite albums of all time. Love that song, too. It's all groove, but in 6, and the impact is brought about by varying the intensity of different sections instead of a collection of riffs. The power of that song is all in how it's played. Chic operate in the same way for much of their stuff, same riff for 10 minutes but you bring it up, you bring it down and that's how it effects people. Amazing how differently we hear things.
  20. Are you getting paid? If so, consider that playing the song is a much better way to get money than digging coal out of a mine or working in a call centre, no? Take the money, do your easy work and, next time you play the song, think how great it is to get money for playing music.
  21. The bass in Rock and Roll by Led Zeppelin sounds a bit flat when he's pedalling the A. Same for Do Anything You Want To by Thin Lizzy. Ah well, both are bangers and have done well enough regardless. It's not a huge deal.
  22. Metallica and Lou Reed has to be mentioned, though it would be crass of me to include a link in case the play button was accidentally clicked.
  23. But what a day it was, definite top-tenner of days.
  24. Elton again, this time with Alice In Chains
  25. Cut a piece of wood as you desire and apply some double-sided tape?
