1. No, I thought they just don't pay you until you get enough followers to monetise the channel. You need 1000 followers, something like that?
2. If it's not a canary yellow BC Rich Ironbird, it's not the right bass.
3. With some Shampoo for an encore?
4. I made it 4 seconds into his introduction. It might be the best plugin in the world, but I just can't handle forced wackiness on youtube.
5. Although the quality has dipped with each new album, Feel the Steel is, and always will be, an absolute banger.
6. After careful consideration, Ronnie James Dio counsels caution when considering purchasing this particular instrument.
7. Holst was 40 before he started on The Planets, 44 when he finished it. R.E.M. were in their 30's before they created Out Of Time and Automatic For The People. Foo Fighters released only two albums before Grohl turned 30. Gold Mother came out when Tim Booth was 30. Laid, Seven, Whiplash, Millionaires, these wonderful albums all came after. The B-52's peak came well into their 30's. Doug Pinnick was 30 before King's X ever formed. He's still putting out great albums with KXM with George Lynch, who's in his 60's. It's not impossible for older musicians to excel after they turn 30. If they don't, it's nothing to do with what the calendar says.
8. Mick would have been about 50? 😁
9. Metallica are a poor example, having tightly embraced mediocrity for 30 years. How about Sepultura, Voivod or Anthrax who continue to put out creative and interesting music well past thirty years into their careers?
10. Lemmy formed Motorhead as he turned 30. They had a decent song or two, no? One must surely think his post-30 output was better than what went before?
11. Ronnie James Dio turned 30 in 1972, after which he recorded Richie Blackmore's Rainbow, Rising, Long Live Rock and Roll, Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules, Holy Diver and quite a few more proper bangers. I think you'd find a more accurate indication of quality dive if you could map out the timeline of their bank balances 😉
12. Wot, no Vigier?
13. Interesting intonation setting change on the E string. Was the string affected by magnetic pull and different pickup heights or what was going on there?
14. If you're doing covers you should be able to move along if everyone is doing some homework - since the songs are already there and you have a recording to practice along to. If people won't do the homework, then you won't progress even if you rehearse every week.
15. Nice. Can you get a gold string tree and pickup selector switch too?
16. He's also utilising the rarely seen (these days, at least) tie-mute technique. I wonder where he got the tonesilk?
17. He'll really have been taking his time if he has waited seven years 😉
18.
Producer: W. Axl Rose
AFD is sublime. This track is not. There is much to say in favour of a good producer, rather than a member of the band, to offer perspective and guidance.
19. Never mind 🙈
20. Yep, prove you can match the last guy, show that you have showed them due respect and spent the time learning the material as it is and, only then, go and show how much more wonderful you are. Whenever I have auditioned anyone, the #1 peeve is someone who has made a half-assed effort to learn the songs and thinks they can wing it. Prove you can nail it as they presented it to you and you'll go a long way towards getting the gig. You'll have lots of time to express yourself afterwards.
21. Stick with what the previous player did, to start off with. You can add your own imprint on new material.
22. It's worth noting that the Peart video getting everyone in a tizzy is from 94, which is the year he decided to start working with Freddie Gruber to help him get out of the rigidity he needed to play along with Rush's midi and backing tracks. He recognised the stiffness himself and spent many years afterwards getting out of it. That video doesn't really do justice to how he would play in the years after.
