I once auditioned for a band and, during a break, the singer took me aside, said he really liked my playing and explained his vision for the band - which included masks/make-up and stage names. I get the feeling the guy had become aware of Slipknot and wanted to copy the idea. I was 28 at the time and found the whole thing quite embarrassing, even though I would be allowed to choose my own name and mask, etc. If I was 16, fine. I grew up listening to Tom Warrior, Ron Royce, Tommy T. Baron, Cronos, Mantas, Abbadon and the likes and anything goes when you're a kid. At the age of 28, though, the thought of going to my Ma saying I'm going to be known as Blacksmith Demonslayer or some such nonsense (it was a Metal band after all) just did not work for me at all 😄

Yeah, The Fall had a few line-ups with two bassists. Shame they left the interpretive dance out in later years

Switch to original music and make her voice a feature of what you do. There are lots of great, great bands making great, great music with singers who would be viewed traditionally as "unmusical" 😀

When I heard that on the night I was genuinely in the WTF camp and amazed it got so much of the public vote but, the more I hear it, the more I like it. There's a lot going on there, it's really quite far removed from the Europop camp.

Get 1/4" drill bit and make the hole in your existing knobs a teeny, tiny bit bigger. Don't drill through your hand, though. Safety first and so on.

My drum kit was used to record Paddy Casey's Saints and Sinners album. I'm not really a fan so it doesn't mean anything to me but it is a nice kit.

Bonzo's squeaking bass drum pedal features on a number of songs but is particularly clear on Since I've Been Loving You and The Ocean. Be warned, though, once you hear it, it gets louder every time 🙂

Why not just wait and buy the bass you actually want instead of buying something you clearly don't want?

I don't think I've ever seen anything which discouraged me. Great music and musicians make me want to play. Crap music and musicians make me want to play too, just better than they were 😀

The way the ramp is radiused and the pickups are not is not befitting a bass with a price tag like that. The amount of work which went into this and to mismatch like that is, quite frankly, wack, cuz. George Michael never sang "If you're gonna do it, do it wrong!" for a bloody good reason.

Surely the important issue is the amount of wood remo.... sorry, I almost forgot... the amount of tonewood removed from the core path of the strings? It's almost as if they don't care 😢

Had a 4003 for many years. I loved the sound, loved the look, hated the ergonomics. Now I miss the sound, miss the look, but don't miss the ergonomics. I just found it very uncomfortable for my style of playing. I'd love to try a 4004 with a forearm contour.

In the last year there were a couple of DeGier Origin basses, one a green 6 string and, the other, a blonde fretless 4 string, which gave me multiple impure thoughts. Luckily, I wanted neither a six string nor a fretless so was able to resist but the thoughts of a fretted four string in either guise still gives me palpitations.
