Metal bas eh? I found a jazz bass to be suitable for all metal genres. It's the combination of picking style, volume/tone settings on bass , strings of course and amp settings. No magic formula. For and Justice for all, the Black album and Metallica in general, I roll back the neck volume a bit then set the amps bass, mid , treble and gain to desired settings. Higher treble for Jason sound, roll off the treble for Cliff sound. Pretty much any metal. For playing Maiden I predominantly use my p bass, but jazz bass produces a surprisingly good soundz just roll back the bridge pick up. The more I roll it back the more authentic sound is for early years Maiden bass.

On all seriousness, I've just listened to Dr Feelgood vinyl I bought the year it was released. Some crackling , but it sounds unbelievably good. Saw them live in 91 during Monsters of Rock opening for Metallica and AC/DC.

Chasing sound - new pickups vs preamp vs bass
SH73 replied to Fishfacefour's topic in General Discussion
I've used to chase sound. It's a subjective matter. YouTubers often e.g. play Maiden bass cover , clanky bright sound. It's not about the clank and bright sound. There are many factors when it comes to dialling in Maiden bass. It can can vary from a middy almost like nasal sound to bright sound with clarity. Do you play with a pick, fingers, slap? What's your picking position in relation to the pick ups? Volume, tone ratio adjustment in the bass? Flat wounds, rounds, tape.....Do you prefer using fresh bright strings or dead flats... I would first settle with strings, adjust everything on bass and amp the same settings and go from there. Experiment with playing position. Most importantly, the sound you hear from the speakers may sound different depending on your listening position, direct in front of the speaker from side etc. Headphones...stay consistent. I once managed to nail the Piece of Mind bass sound and Seventh Son era sound by setting up the amp with SM57 placed at 1 metre (3 ft) away from the centre of the 15 inch speaker recorded .Well I cannot find the notes I made at the time. -
I have a gut feeling that wearing corset/ waist trainer would overcome your obstacles.

I can't even speak with an English one?

I was told off then verbally attacked by users for asking advice on a built project. Very bizarre.

Talk what? How dare you?! Welcome

To be fair , I couldn't probably even tell you blond folded if I played my Squier p bass as it came originally or the minor upgrades. As long as the strings and neck feels right, the style of your playing will produce that sweet sound.

My most comfortable bass to play is a second hand Squier p bass, added a fender high mass bridge , SPB 1 pick up, flat strings and done.

Plenty of wood in the alleyway I'm clearing out too. For free

Agreed. To me it looks like an excuse. If you watch closely, he went for Tom's instead of continuing hitting the crash.

My parents would have various AM stations on. My dad would also listen to Radio Free Europe, forbidden station during Cold War. He had a collection of Elvis Presley, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Buddy Holly and various 50s and 60s rock and roll played on a reel to reel valve player. We used to listen the usual rock/pop hits in very early 80s when I quickly got influenced by metal, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Scorpions, Anthrax, Annihilator, AC/DC, Kreator, Sepultura and likes.

Not just eBay, Shpock, Gumtree similar. Can you deliver? Is one of the questions.. Over the weekend I sold two Squier guitars on Gumtree I wanted to sell them for a couple of years now to finance a project guitar, but was in no rush selling them, the ads had pictures of every dent, scratch and this was also mentioned in the description. When one seller turned up yesterday, I pointed these out minor tear and wear. I also provided a new set of strings, still in original unsealed packaging, also in the description. He wasn't aware. Obviously he didn't read the add but it seems that he looked at the main photo only. He said, does it come with an amp? I said you can have an amp but that will be extra so and so. Anyway, I felt generous and felt bit sorry for the youngster so reduced the price at door step. Saturday, sold the other Squier, i put it on hold for someone for a week, they collected it but the questions were never ending. I also gave them a discount at the door step. Both were happy. I think one with locking tuners I put on and new strings they got a bargain. Not music related, but I put a perfectly working washing machine on Gumtree on Friday for sale, very cheap. It sat in the utility room unused for a year, we thought we use it as a back up...don't know why..never did.within 2 hours it was collected. I gave it out for free even helped loading it in a car. It was my intention to just give it away, and the buyer was shocked as he desperately needed a washing machine. I didn't want to advertise for free knowing it would end up in scrap.

100% agreed. On other website buyers mainly hassle to underpay so they can sell on.

Hit parade, haven't heard that term since 80s when we used to listen to radio and record songs on a cassette.
