8.
DVD's and books are usually good entertainment and I tend to look at them as teaching/learning aids. Most of them really cover the equivalent of one or maybe two lessons. You also cannot ask a DVD or book questions, or have them explain things in a different way. And despite feeling that everything is fine you'd be surprised how a good teacher could pick on weak areas and solidify your knowledge and technique. It's not just about a bass teacher - I learned some of my best lessons just hanging out with jazz players. Once, a very fine piano player on the South Coast gave me an impromptu lesson on chord changes and substitutions. Saxophonist Bobby Wellins taught me more about playing melodically than any book or CD.
Thank you guys fir you're kindest words, I'm gonna go for a few lessons when I get bk from hols. Ziggy

13. mmm bass drum I had a terrible experience with my main band that actually alterd my mind about my drummer that then led me to think of it as another reason to leave the band. we done a gig where the whole band was miked up and the bass drum was thuding all through my head all the way through the gig, the trouble was it highligted that when the drummer done a fill hes bass drum stopped !, he was out of time , and limited too (same bass beat) i looked at the walll all night and refused to play the venue again . obviously when we played in pubs etc the bass drum was always lost. after that i could never lock in with him again no matter how hard i tried to relax and get in with him i even reverted to stop playing runs when he did!!! my limited experiencse is i play less notes when the drummer is good!!!! simply beacacuse he or she will clock the space and either use it or sync with you. and if the feel is there its there!! (im also contemplating having drum lesons!!) I played with a drummer in a soul band who was so nervous about the tempo of the tunes it was a bit daunting but boy when he played it just was wicked, then ive played with a funk drummer who just does it and he listens to what youre doing wich is awesome when we get it right we both smile, id hope that a drummer is checking out what the bass is doing and alll the best drummers ive played with seem to listen, and i do love the hi hat especially when you clock it and the drummer knows youre listening, i had a drummer telll me that i was the first bass player to notice hes hi hat!!!(hope thats what he meant)!! or maybe im a crap bass player talking gibblygooop!!!!!!!!!
14. hi Everyone, Following the recent departuee of leaving my full time band i had this great idea of just getting better. I have good basses, i feel the groove and whenever im in a band i get good feedback. i have a few deps for a soul band , disco band and rock covers band. i have played rock to country to funk,(no jazz though). i go on you tube and jam to tunes , i have tascam cdbt1 and also a looper as well as a boss jm5(jamstation). i had lessons ages ago and still have alll my notes from them. im a good player and like fingerstyle and am slowly working on my slap as well as tapping and trying chords. heres my trouble. . . . . when i practice i seem to play the same rifs Mianly and its frustrating as hell!!! and cant seem to get "out of the box" that im musically in. i get frustrated with my speed of both my hands and seem to be a 'safe player' i know major and miner etc but i listen to other bass players and think WOW thats great . so is it best for me to get a clearer book / dvds on modes/slap etc as my old lessons notes are a bit faded , or just have a couple of lessons a months for a few months? any ideas kindest regards ziggy.
15.
I remember that day well, Ziggy you must have had a few red bulls to keep you awake for that gig Dude!!
yepmate the gig was mad the stage was so small i was glad to hve the headless sei, i lent up against the walll for most of the gig and i think at some pionts i was drifting off to sleep!!!!!
16.
I dont do any big shows any more so this is surplus to requirements, I have only used it around three or four times & it performs flawlessly. when i first got it i ab'd it with a cable & i coudn't hear any difference in tone, i only use 6 string basses & from the low B or low A when i tune down, to the top note on the high C string there is absolutely no loss of tone. This system is in brand new condition with the manual £100 + postage here is a link with pics & spec: http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/1528...rument-set.html
ha want a wireless but aint in a band!!!!! bump for lilleal great guy to do buisness with.
17.
Hello, thats a bit special isn't it, I have wanted a flamboyant headless 6 since I first saw Dave Marks with one years ago, that is lovely.
hi guv my headless 6 is fate pure and simple. its no 20!! i swapped my thumb 88 six through neck with this sei. littleal had this and he wanted a thumb six.... i couldnt play my thumb six due to shoulder injury everyone on the site was saying just eep the sei and pick up a thumb six but my thumb was a bit special (barts ,brass nut, mint for age and id had it for around 15yrs)..... so against alll odds i drove to the ilse of wight (obviuosly got on a ferry ) allan picked me up we had coffe tried each others basses smiled at each other and swapped!!!! all this was done at like 4.30 am as allan worked shifts ,i then drove back to southend worked a day drove to harlow got this baby out of the case played a gig (was up for around 26hrs) ....legendary bass,,, illl never sell this baby. and before we met we made a deal that if we didnt like each others basses we wouldnt have swapped!!!! so i was taking a huge leap of faith. any other persons than bass players wouldnt have done all this, alan still has my thumb and has had an ebony fretboard put on it!!! and ive had a shack 18v preamp put bk into the sei! the sei is the one , i love my other basses but the flamboyant gets alot of atention and love from me, id like to get it refinished as the finish is a bit worn but its got lots of character. glad you like matey.
18. WOW that is gorgeous , i want one now!!!!! to go with my baby.
19. bump now with pictures!!!
20. Sorry guys WITHDRAWN NOW> Hi everyone, have a boss loop pedal and a pedal with 3 buttons on it (playback, reverse etc). pedal is mint cond with box and manuals. looking for what i paid for it on here £150.00 could really do with selling this with cash and collection in mind, i have used it twice. regards ziggy.
21.
!£!£$!%$!$! that thing is lush!!!!!
cheers fella i am pleased i took a chance on this baby, if you look at the elrick jazz basses its just a copy but for a third of the price, it has vol,pup sel,bass/ treble, mid, passive tone contol, mid swicth and passive/active swicth, and nortstrands 18v!! its very pretty and the neck is just right, if i could save and get some la bella super steps on it the action would be perfect, but its lovely as it is. ta matey.
22. Hi Pete, I just took the A string off and pushed the nut right up into the neck untill it stopped so i hope it just came loose, ill try and give it a turn to make sure its on the rod properly if i could just adjust the rod a slight bit the neck and action etc will be the nuts! cant wait to listen to this bass through my amp. kindest regards ziggy
23. Pete, bump for alll the arias you have.!!! ziggy.
24. Hi Pete, i just played it again this morning and it plays amazing and sounds awesome (its got nortstrands and opb3 in it). soo i defo wana keep it, i dont know what series the pictures are in but yes its the picture with the string missing where the nut has dropped down, i cant get an allen key in there so i may try (carefully) a pair of bullnosed pliers with a cloth round them just to start it off then get an allen key in it. i cant seem to push the rod back in or up as you said but i can wiggle the silver nut a lilttle bit so i hope its just come lose, illl read your'e reply again and let you know. thank you for your'e time . kindest regards ziggy.
25. Hi Guys , need some advice, bought this nice bass from bulgaria (i took a chance )and there are a few bits that are nigly Couple of joint gaps neck pick up could slighty be better positiond and the bridge seems to set a little out or not back enough.its been made lovely, i just done the action and intonation, the neck is gorgeous and it looks great , it sounds the nuts through my tascam bass trainer!!! but i got a Major issue with the truss rod ssems to be 'dropping' out of the bass. in the original picys you can just see the trust rod nut under the neck, when the bass arrived i noticed that the nut seems to be so far down in the little cavity that you put youre allen key into and i doubt wether you can now get an allen key in there. Bit gutted and dont know what to do i could leave it but i think the truss rod could do with a little turn to get the action nicer and worried that i shouldnt leave it like that. i suppose i cant grumble the bass only set me back £650.00 but want it to be right :- a.beacause i want to feel comfortable about the bass b.if i want to sell it i the future i wont sell it with a any issues any thoughts? pictures show the nut/rod before and after delivery. kindest regards. ziggy.
