LAST PRICE DROP £500+£15 UK Shipping (Gassing after another Bass on here) Up for sale or trade is my beloved Fender Jazz Modern Player V 5 string bass. £575 + £15 for insured shipping to U.K. only. Overseas can contact me but I think postage cost will be high and thus prohibitive. This is a lot of Bass for the money!!!!!! Only reason for letting go, which is reluctantly, is that my wee small hands have found it less easy to fly around the neck, so going back to two 4 strings, one tuned down, short scale too, so trade wise would be looking a Fender Mustang, possibly the new one with the PJ pick up configuration, alternatively a Pawn Shop Mustang, Squier Mikey Way Mustang, Squier Chris Aiken or possibly a Squier Classic Vibe 70's Bass, or any Fender 4 string, preferably a Precision. Some of the aforementioned models would require cash supplements either way. ONLY INTERESTED IN FENDERS FOR TRADE. The Modern Player is in superb condition, never gigged. Have a Hard Case for it (Generic, Non Fender). This Bass has so much variety of tone to dial in from it's 4-way selector alone, it's, imo, a Precision and a Jazz in one. Don't be fooled by the Made in China bit, this is superbly built and is as good as any Japanese model I've played, is very similar in finish to MIJ models. Here's some specs from the web. Here's what Fender say about the Modern Player Jazz Bass Satin V The Modern Player Jazz Bass returns in a fivestring model with a new look and even greater tonal versatility from its powerful pair of humbucking pickups. A satin finish imparts a smoothly elegant air, and a convenient new four position rotary pickup selector switch delivers a potent quartet of pickup combinations (full middle and bridge pickups, full middle pickup and bridge pickup outer coil, full bridge pickup and middle pickup outer coil, outer coil of both pickups). Other features include an alder body, maple neck with "C"-shaped profile, 9.5"-radius maple (Black model) or rosewood (Olympic White and Two-color Sunburst models) fingerboard with 20 jumbo frets and easy-access truss rod adjustment wheel, redesigned Modern Player Jazz Bass humbucking pickups, single-ply black pickguard and vintage-style black plastic control knobs (two volume and master tone), and five saddle Fender Hi-Mass bridge. Up for grabs is my Markbass NY151. Super compact 15 inch Bass Cab, light as a feather, but loud as f**k. Only selling as I'm now going down a different road, just traded an Ashdown Combo on here, so sale only, unless you have an Ashdown NEO extension cab for trade. Stock pic, but is in good nick, only tried it out in the house but sounded awesome. Comes with what I believe to be a roqsolid cover, but is not an exact fit, but near enough. Actually bought this Cab from another fellow basschatter. Specs IMPEDENCE: 8 ohms SPEAKER SIZE: 1x15'' BASS PORT: rear TWEETER: piezo POWER HANDLING: 400W RMS (AES Standard) CROSSOVER FREQUENCY: 3.5 kHz FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 40Hz to 18KHz SENSITIVITY: 100 dB SPL WEIGHT: 37.3 lbs / 16.9 Kg WIDTH: 18.7”/ 47.5 cm HEIGHT: 18.3”/ 46.4 cm DEPTH: 18.9”/ 48 cm Will be an extra £15 to ship to U.K. only, more if in EU, unless you're local to Northern Ireland which is where I'm based.

Ashdown NEO Combo (UK) *SOLD*
The GroovyPlucker replied to jay-syncro's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Hi, it sounds like an Ashdown should, i.e warm and meaty but without the excess weight of their previous combos. It features the classic Ashdown preamp mated to a class D poweramp with proper toroidal transformer and top end Sica driver. This means high performance and low weight. It was around £1k new so certainly not cheap, it's a bargain at £350!
It sure is a bargain, two weeks ago i'd have taken a punt, but currently am low(er) on the GAS paper igniter than afore, will keep an eye on, I see it's on the bay too, and will come back to you, cheers for the info......The GroovyPlucker -
Ashdown NEO Combo (UK) *SOLD*
The GroovyPlucker replied to jay-syncro's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Hmmmm, tempting, having just bought a TC Elec 800w head and Markbass NY151 I now found a new idea. Is this Ashdown some kind of digital hybrid? sorry not up to date with their new stuff, I had an old ABM 1x15 combo years ago, love their warmth and grunt, and clarity which you can find with ashdown, is this in that territory or is that too much to ask at this price, also I see you can add an extension cab, very interested now, shouldn't be as I need to sell really before I buy, but....GAS, Cheers The GroovyPlucker -
Absolutely brilliant Basschat(er). Very easy to communicate with, Shipped item no problem, and such attention to detail in the packaging which never goes unappreciated. Superb Bass, not a problem with it, very happy to thoroughly recommend this Gentleman, The GroovyPlucker

Just bought a Zoom multi fx pedal off Chris. Great guy to chat to, very prompt and efficient. Item was couriered to me and was meticulously packed and protected for it's journey, very pleasing as some people don't bother their backsides. All round great guy to deal with and no hesitations about dealing with him whatsoever. The GroovyPlucker/Mark

NRD - New Rig Day - Mesa Boogie Subway D800 + 115 + 112

Heard of it but never played it.........think these new cabs are more focused than older generation cabs, i.e. you can get a more specific direction with the sound, easier to monitor yourself...still great for transmitting bass into the audience face........ -

Where was the gig? Looks a bit like the Culloden? I initially thought it was Galgorm when you mentioned dead room, always hated the sound and vibe in those two big rooms, Gillies was always better. Did a gig at Culloden years ago and found it good. Glad your new rig's working for you, Mark -
Withdrawn - Trace Elliot 1153t 15" Cab

re courier.....I appreciate your concerns and many of us have had negative experiences with couriers, but choosing a larger, reputable company like Parcelforce, DHL, etc initially costs more but are better equipped when it comes to cover in the event of a problem. if I've had problems i've found these companies fix things quicker and more professionally than these small firms which just throw things over the fence (are you listening Yodel). Anyway, speaking as someone who uses and relies on couriers exclusively due to my location, I urge you to re-consider. Thorough packing usually ensures no problems with couriers, and now there are many sites that offer great prices from the top couriers, Parcel Hero is one, and no, I'm not on the payroll. If you can get past the grind of having to parcel up and a mountain of parcel tape you'll find a bigger business for your item guaranteed, The GroovyPlucker -

re the Markbass CMD121P, I had one of these on it's own and I was drowned out by the drummer. I didn't like it one little bit, however, I now own a Markbass New York NY151 (400W) and a TC Electronics BH800 (800W). Haven't gigged it, but in practice it knocks yer socks off. Massive sound from the Markbass, nice warmth from the TC Elec, and I can carry this rig in one hand, gig bag over shoulder for amp, cab one handed too. i've had lots of rigs, light and heavy, but this set up works for me. Both came in at around £500 ish. The GroovyPlucker

Markbass NY151 v Ny151 Black Line
The GroovyPlucker replied to The GroovyPlucker's topic in Amps and Cabs
that combo really put me off markbass, found it very tight and sterile tbh, but i've come around to them more now, like the tightness of the 151, but it has more tonality than i previously thought, using it through my tc elec 800W, not sure about markbass amps tho, but they look as cool as f**k, like the look of the little rocker...... -
Markbass NY151 v Ny151 Black Line
The GroovyPlucker replied to The GroovyPlucker's topic in Amps and Cabs
cheers frank, I'd probably prefer two the same as well, kinda caught between two worlds really, still might take the plunge later, really impressed with the markbass ny151 though, at first test anyway, haven't gigged it yet, never got on with my cmd121 combo, but like the 1x15, small and neat package, just like me...... -
Anyone have any experience with the NY151 Black Line cabs. I have a NY151 and was gonna buy another, but I see the black line variation is a lot cheaper. wondered if it's voiced differently to the standard NY or is it just cheaper components, i.e. non italian made etc. Might look quite neat stacked underneath my standard as opposed to the full blossoming yellow flower look of two standards. cheers in advance The GroovyPlucker

yes discreet, I sometimes play alongside very loud marshall stacks and stage monitoring can be a right pain, add in a very loud drummer and you can see why I need to shift air, but in the main it's mid sized halls and pubs so we'll see how one goes, thanks for all your useful input folks....

Oh, Does that mean it's glued on then as opposed to screwed on

Hi, Wow, thanks for the quick response. Def an OCD going on with the look. Do I need another cab? Maybe, Maybe not, idea was a small set up for small venues etc, and a bit more oomph for bigger rock venues........sounds like the OCD(ness) and others opinions is drawing me to another NY151, but am in no rush to do so. haven't even tried the thing yet, lol, but thanks again for your advice folks, very much apprecited, The GroovyPlucker

Hi, Bit of advice required. Have just acquired a Markbass NY151 and am looking at an extra cab to add to it. Due to it's size/dimensions I'd like a nice clean looking stack, so an additional NY151 would fit right, but not sure if x2 15" speakers are the way to go, maybe overkill!, not sure I want that much bottom end, would like smaller speakers, maybe with horn, to sing out the high end. So am looking at a 1x12, or 2x12, 2x10, which are my preferred option. The NY121 would sit on top, the 2x10's or other 1x10's could stand up right, not sure if the 2x10 would sit underneath the 151 tho. I'm guessing that the Markbass logo on the grill is easy to unscrew and refit to look right? Any of you guys any ideas/info/experience with this scenario, Thanks The GroovyPlucker
