  1. Great review thanks. i had a v6 for a long time and loved it's tone and power. i sold it as I no longer need such power for gigs. i have been tempted recently to buy a less powerful valve amp. i had a musicman hd130 but this was a hybrid. i see a fender bassman in your armoury whats your opinion of this all valve amp versus the trace all valve amps? thanks
  2. These passive G & L basses are severely under rated IMHO
  3. I’ve been forced to muzzle my dog, because although it identifies as a cat it keeps bloody barking.
  4. Yes exactly right i always think of kit cars what are the chances of the resulting car being better than a mass produced car?
  5. Anyway, it's not worth £5500
  6. Don't forget the Fender roscoe beck 5 ive had both and preferred the rb5
  7. Yes I am always surprised they are not more popular Whats not to like? CS pup, badass, pre 57 headstock, guard and controls, truss rod where it should be
  8. IMHO being a hobby bassist is the way to go its all I've ever done and I've never envied any of the pro musos I've known, none of them ever earnt more than I did when I added up my day job and gig fees so I would get a job or start a self employment but keep gigging as a hobby bassist You said "Got a small pay off from the ex so she could keep everything and help ease my way into whatever awaited." why is it always the guy that gets screwed a mate of mine thinks as a sex we should toughen up especially on breakup I certainly think any bloke with assets needs to think about protecting them - pre nuptials, trusts, etc
  9. I never thought much of Tina Weymouth as a bass player
  10. Yes as far as I know this was the only difference between the A/E and the HMT - the neck and tuners
  11. Can you post photos of original case please? Thanks
  12. I love Fenders but there's no way I'd pay £4000 I'd say £2000 tops for a new one Ive got a 2000ish CS jazz and it's about the quality of the Fullerton avris I've got. The best Fender buy is the MIM Classic Series
  13. I still think it would have some negative effect Yes I don't understand the money thrown at pre CBs fenders.
  14. I love everything Leo so can't criticise Ray's - how do rate G&Ls, meant to be the ultimate Leo bass? Personally I don't like active basses worst of all being the active Fenders I have tried.
  15. I think you'd like a pj fender bass - sound just like a p vast with just the neck pup but you can dial in that jaco honky sound by blending or soloing the bridge pup. Highly recommended
  16. Originality is everything and lack of it will adversely effect market values
  17. Well done Be interested to hear a long term report from you, in other words when the sheer joy of the purchase and you have forgotten how much it cost, how does it compare with those early 70's precisions you used enthuse about and also maybe some of those Fullerton avri precisions? Be very interested
  18. Red one sold on eBay yesterday £964
  19. I got my great sounding 2000ish 4003 4 years ago £900 Yeah, expensive
