  1. Famous top gear commentator stated "if we were all sensible we'd all drive VW golfs" the p bass is the VW golf of basses end of story
  2. My only significant purchase this year and undoubtedly the best - I've had one of these before so it's like coming home!
  3. The interesting question then is:- Does the bass having a different neck from the factory fit decrease its value? The answer must surely be Yes
  4. Could have been a fault with the maple neck Or perhaps he didn't like the agression of maple and preferred the smoothness of rosewood Like you say it's difficult to get replacement necks from EB But there are a few always for sale on eBay, etc I suspect there are many EB basses with swapped out necks
  5. I've experienced all the basses you mention and the TF is easily the best one.
  6. Exactly If you get a chance to try the 5, grab it
  7. Maybe they argued and couldn't reconcile

  9. Having owned both, it always surprised me how different each bass was. Its not too far an exaggeration to think in terms of chalk and cheese, they really are (surprisingly!) that different. If I had to chose, I'd go for the 5, which is without doubt Fenders best 5 and amazingly given all those different voices is passive The 4 is interesting and well made, not Fenders best 4 but a great bass nethertheless, enjoy
  10. Good to see you've still got the L1000!
  11. You need to go to an audiologist and buy some custom fitted Starkey EM 06-084356
  12. Yes I agree But at the moment my favourite track is the third Now that you've gone - the brass parts are just so fantastic and super forceful/in your face especially at loud volumes. Wonderful Bit sentimental for, I listened to Chicago in late 6o's/early 70's but only stayed for the first three CDs. I then was totally absorbed in Peter Gabriel's Genesis so it's only in the last week or so that I've heard Chicago V. Although it was realeased in 1972 I am now listening to it and some of the subsequent CDs for the first time So 46 years after it was released - bit late to the party!
  13. Fantastic looking bass and a lovely bloke to deal with GLWS
  14. Valves are delicate. I think they should have been removed and individually wrapped in tissue, bubble wrap and then re installed after delivery. i sent a trace Elliot v6 amp in this way to Europe using Parcelforce and it arrived ok with all power and pre amp valves in tact
  15. I'd snap the sellers hand off for a reasonable condition 72 Jazz at £2000
  16. What's wrong with the finish? Got in photos of what you consider to be a better finish?
  17. Never understood that second hand comment. Apart from the chip in the binding the bass looks like new to me. I am not selling the bass and have no affiliation with the seller
  18. Look at this! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F263882692380 2nd time listed, you could get it for £900 so don't moan about ricks being expensive
