Vintage bass collectors, have a good cry with me.

Here is a 20 year old Music Ground advert taken from page 28 of the bassist magazine August 1997 Pre CBS fenders for just over a grand! -
Details here, keep 'em peeled https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=453391991659144&id=100009650420844
STOLEN JAYDEE SUPERNATURAL BASS Whilst sending my Jaydee Series III Supernatural bass - which I've owned and loved for over 28 years - from Denmark to the UK for some repair work, the <insert adjectives/expletives here> that I entrusted to deliver it managed to, in their words, "misplace" it during transit. These morons are called Ecoparcel. Never, ever, use their "services"! Here's why... In a nutshell, the bass was collected on March 14th, delivered to a depot somewhere in Denmark on the 15th and has never been seen again. After waiting for a delivery update for eight days I finally contacted them on March 23rd to see what the hell was going on. Ecoparcel, to add insult to injury and prove beyond any doubt that they couldn't give a sh*t, kindly appointed a Customer Service TRAINEE (and I mean no disrespect to the the young lady, who is just doing her job - sort of) to "investigate". Almost immediately, nothing happened... On March 26th, I was told that "the depot has started a search last Friday. If your parcel is not found in 9 working days of investigation, I will give you the information for the claiming procedure. I will also contact you if there are any changes". Since then, no contact and no changes - despite my requests for updates. As such, the only conclusion I can draw is that my bass has been STOLEN and I would kindly ask that anyone seeing it for sale please let me or the police () know. If you would also be kind enough to share this post and spread the word that would be highly appreciated too. The details of the bass are as follows: Jaydee Series III Supernatural bass, in dark red with chrome hardware, serial number 77245 stamped on the top of the back of the headstock. The bass was packed inside a black ABS Thomann flight case, which was inside a cardboard box with "Thomann" and "Music is our passion" written on the sides. The outward appearance is almost immaculate, however the neck needs a new truss-rod and the pickup selector switch does not work in the "neck position" (which is why I was sending it back to Jaydee Custom Guitars in the first place). To make it even easier to find, "Steve Hollas" is/was engraved in bold white letters on the back control cavity plate! (Please note that I didn't have a picture of this, but the attached Photoshopped image is just as accurate. The rest are 100% unaltered). Please see the attached pictures and accept my heartfelt thanks for reading this post. — feeling heartbroken.
... but not all the time. I have 5 basses and fall in and out of love with each of them at times. Sometimes I can play them all in an evening and find there's not one that I like much at all. Am I alone in this? Am I peculiar?
what are the five basses?
Absolute nonsense. This. And turn down any sub/bass/low boosters on their amp. Those are for bedroom noodling but mess up the overall band sound.
utter rubbish

Crack Converters Pitsea Yamaha BB1100S £250?
gareth replied to Paul S's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I found myself in the hamlet of Pitsea, near Basildon, this morning. Actually on purpose, I didn't get lost. I wasn't alone, however. Saw a Crack Converters so popped in, as you do. They had an old Yamaha BB1100S in black which looked in good 'clean used' nick as far as I could tell as it was hanging up the other other side of the desk. Not sure if that is 'an absolute steal' at £250 or just 'a decent price' but this I am sure would be a quality 80s active PJ bass. I would have made them a near offer and brought it home to casa S except I am trying to lose my 4 strings, not gain therm.
bargin and a wonderful bass -
Hi,Could you guys give me some advice on my set up please. I'm using two SWR Golights,1x12.(Rare I know) with an Eden wtx500. The problem I'm having is the band I play with are loud & I'm struggling to hold my own volume wise unless I'm Di'd. It sounds great at more reasonable volume but you know how excited these guitarists get, they get louder as the night goes on. I'm constantly battling with gain & clip lights. Any helpful advise would be great.
been there done it You need an all valve amp, trannies just dont hack it
Well, not that old. I'm in my early 50s and have some health issues that really never killed anyone but it does make staying out until 2am a non-starter. I don't have the energy any more I have played in covers bands for years but got sacked (well, the rest of the band left me but that's another story) a few months back because I wouldn't play multiple nights in a week. It's all right saying you only want to play a couple of times a month but when bands start to pick up gigs they don't knock them back and before you know it... friday night, saturday night, sunday afternoon. I think I'm about to sell all my gear and buy some better camera equipment but I'm a bit sad about it. What are the alternatives? Any bright ideas appreciated
more sex

Fender Precision - 1969 with a 1982 Fender Fullerton Neck
gareth replied to cardinaljay's topic in Basses For Sale
You might get a better price if you put up photos of the body's neck, control and pup cavity as these may show the factory stamps, dates, etc that would support it being a 1969 body and originally sunburst. Also it would show whether any additional routing was done to accomodate these or any previous non-fender pickups. It is possible it may have had active pickups at some stage and if so there will be routing for a battery All these things a serious buyer would want to see IMHO -

I`m not sure I know of any with a rosewood board that have that width, pretty much all of those seem to be maple, Road Worns, Classic 50s, Roger Waters etc.
fender vintage reissue 62 p bass has a C neck
Things have taken an upturn here. One evening last week at 6 pm, I got a phone call from a keys player I used to play with: "Our bassist has left. We're rehearsing tonight, gig in 5 weeks. Can you help?" Quick meal, jump in the car and 90 minutes later I'm standing in their rehearsal room. I was OK with songs I knew, but hopeless with ones I didn't know, with the guitarist saying "I'll play barre chords so you can read my fingers" Errr, no, I can't do that on the hoof. Sorry. I was gobsmacked when they asked me to join! They're an established functions band playing to a good standard. The other people in the band have played together for ages, and I played with the keys player for 2 years, so maybe all the "singing off different hymn sheets" issues have been flushed out. I'm learning the setlist as fast as I can. Playing the songs I already know, plus the easy new ones, gives me 16. Only 15 more to go, but they're all new to me. YouTube's going to get some hammer over the next few weeks. So, onwards and upwards. First proper rehearsal tomorrow night.
thats good news, hope it goes well
Anyone had these retrofitted to a bass? Just thinking about side dots (9 in total) on one bass (my Lull)...I was struggling to see where I was at a particularly dark stage last night. If you've had them done, would like an honest opinion...usual concerns; neck damage during installation, battery life, type of battery (and location thereof). Did you have a switch installed for on/off? Thanks P
i am selling a nyc sadowsky in the sales thread. I got the bass from a pro player doing cruises and he, like you wanted side dots only. He got simms (who are roger's preferred uk installer) and the installation is seemless, you cannot see any sign of them being fitted apart from the extra wiring and battery in the control cavity
Unfortunately this happens all to often with any new band or start up band. I really feel band for guys that have to go through this. I really think if a start up band had a leader that was networked and connected to the point where he/she could book a band in advance with at least 4 months or 12 good gigs before you even recruited members. My point, you could potentially attract better musicians. Chances are they would stick with the band because you would have definitive gigs to look forward to. Blue
Good points blue
Band 1; I joined an existing pub covers band. Two rehearsals a week, three gigs, singer sacked, band split. Band 2; I joined a start-up wedding band. One rehearsal a week, three gigs. I left because the singer was not very good. Band subsequently split. Band 3; Put together by me. Pub-covers band. One rehearsal a week, four gigs. Singer left to concentrate on lounge/jazz stuff. Band 4; My current band, which is band 3 with a new singer. After two months, singer's gone AWOL to sort out her marriage. Me; - Utterly frustrated. - I have learned hundreds of songs. I have notes for all of them. I can only play 30 of them from memory, but could dust most of the others off fairly quickly. - Fed up with putting in all the hours, hard work and commitment only to see a band fail. - Very reluctant to start up another band myself. - Wary of joining an existing band with all the existing politics. - Not confident enough to dep What on earth do I do now? Steve
Funny really in retrospect I read this post and went off for our rehearsal last monday with the original band i have been involved with - singer/guitarist/song writer/ vocalist/main man, drums, bass (me), keys and pedal steel. Was the 5th rehearsal and one of those that started great but deteriorated Next day the main man messages me first to say the drummer has left, then later on to say the keys has left and the pedal steel would prefer if we could get someone nearer. OP - what were you saying?
