Fender Classic 50s P or the Roger Waters model?
gareth replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
I can't comment on the Roger Waters model, but I have the classic 50s and that weighs in at 8.8lbs so not far off what you've said. . Very nice bass it is to, it is my bench mark that all the others have to meet and it has yet to be bettered!

The Roadworn version is probably lighter...they usually are.
Both are brilliant basses and the bar against which other basses should be measured -
Very nice. I'm waiting for for fiesta red 50's bass that's in the post. Should arrive in a few days. I already ordered a mint white pick guard for mine. edit: I just gave away that I'm from the States....scratchguard I mean....
Did you manage to get a 10 hole scratchplate/pickguard? OP Great bass and in honey a great colour BTW
On the same page for a couple of quid more, I actually like the look of this.
I have one of these, you have to be careful though, they gave plastic parts, i dropped the first one and it fell to bits, i am being careful with the second and it gas been fine, main advantage over the one below is that it collapses for transportation
x I finally gave up on the folding aluminium ones aft er the third one died on me. http://www.screwfix.com/p/standard-duty-hand-truck-150kg/6374P?kpid=6374P&cm_mmc=Google-_-Product%20Listing%20Ads-_-Sales%20Tracking-_-sales%20tracking%20url&gclid=CjwKEAiA6OnFBRDcgt7YmPKI33ESJACJoTJYy6_XkHbNoopmh0vSRxI-Hpge8h8pA9C7VTJMkBmBWhoC_t7w_wcB The current weapon of choice - I paid £24.95 on sale. Did 2 washing machines with it on my last trip to france.
80's brands that tried to kill your bass playing.
gareth replied to julesb's topic in General Discussion
Think your being a bit hard on peavey and carlsboro I remember having a 4 x 15 carlsboro cabinet - wonderful tone but impossible to move I remember all the dodgy jap basses when i coukd not afford fenders Irononically, many of these awful basses are now sold on ebay as vintage instruments, which i guess they are, but still awful basses -

I have had both the 5 and 4 string. They are vastly different basses and not comparable I did not care for the 4 but the 5 is one of the best fenders i have had. The 5's sell for in excess of £1000. There was one on here for less and it had a well worn body
I'm just wondering if it's time to stock up on pre-wall (pre trade tarrif) Mexican Fenders they gotta being going up by 20% to pay for Donald's Wall. Could they become a thing of the past or the new pre CBS?
politics shoud be in off topic if anywhere at all

Main reason? 74 was the first year of bwb so I decided to show it off
this is what i was thinking

Apart from the blue turtles cd i have missed most of stings solo cds I got pissed off buying full priced police cds back in the day - when they were around £15 each - remember? Because apart from outlandas d mour, they tended to follow the same format, one or two stand out singles and the rest a lot of padding. So with this in mind i gave stings solo cds a miss. As they can now be bought for a couple of quid each on ebay, i have now bought 5 of his solo cds with another 2 on the way Amazed, i find that most of them are pretty good, with some fine tunes, nice hooks and some good jazz musos blowing great lines and very little padding An eye opener
