1. If you can stand the 1 3/4" width neck, I'd get a used MIM Classic 50's series bass. Much better bass
 2.
Thanks for the sound advice folks, I'm just going to insist on bank transfer, too much to lose! Can't believe no one in the UK has even made an offer on it yet!
what bass are you selling?
 3.
I'm sure this is a great bass but not a 69'. Body routing, thumbrest placement, Fender logo on the tuners-they all indicate after 1973. Pots are aftermarket, the body is stripped and repainted.
bargin
 4.
Now sold - many thanks Ian. Sorry Gareth, you missed by a whisker - sorry!
thats ok no probs
 5.
What a lovely bass! but surely it's a 1980?
yes the latest part date would indicate the date the bass was assembled
 6.
Turned up for my gig last night - 'feature band' following open mic - to find at the time we were supposed to be sound checking that the football was being shown over the stage, the promoter was nowhere to be seen and no one at the venue knew much about anything. So basically the promoter hadn't so much organised a gig as arranged for a band to turn up at a bar. One of the bar staff eventually started clearing the stage but we had to sort the PA as they had no idea what to do with it. As far as we could tell there'd been no promotion worthy of the name for it and we've had previous with this promoter not letting us know what was happening with a gig until 4 o'clock that day. The bar staff apparently also asked our drummer if he had pads as last week the band had to stop after 2 songs due to complaints about noise! By a hour after we were supposed to be soundchecking still no promoter so me and drummer walked. This was our 4th gig playing indie (loosely) originals and unpaid. Rest of the band stuck around and did a short acoustic set. So was I being unreasonable or is it time to take a stand against shoddy promoters???
you did the right thing Playing for nothing, messed about, FFS what is the point of doing useless gigs like this?
 7. Alex bought my telecaster bass. Very easy transaction, good comms and nice bloke to deal with.
 8. My view is you should look at where the value is in your equipment. This will normally be the basses so I don't leave these in vehicles. But one of the advantages of using old trace Elliot amps and speakers is they are worth nowt. So I leave speakers and maybe amps in vehicles
 9.
Not emotionally but financial closeness to my; Gibson Gold Top Bass, Gibson ES-335 Bass, 1991 Gibson Thunderbird German made Hofner Club Bass. Most if you know I'm primarily in the bar bsnd business. I can't even bring those basses to the places we play. Blue
have you tried the Epiphone Jack casady and they do they in a gold top?
 10. I have had a couple of international colour précisions including Capri orange and apart from the colour they are un-remarkable basses often heavy with bad/lazy contours.
 11. Wow That's the earliest serial number I've seen More photos would help your sale
 12.
There's nowt stranger than folk
I'll agree to that
 13. So this the question If you book Parcelforce using parcel2go and use the parcel2go insurance. Are you then insured using the parcel2go insurance if the bass gets damaged?
 14.
Parcelforce is a private company and thus not subject to freedom of information act requests.
thanks for that
 15.
That's funny as when you pick extra compensation online adding musical instrument it says your covered for loss up to £2500 and damage £100. They will also tell you this at the post office. When sending an instrument and asking for the insurance. So are they lying to get the extra money? And not telling other online brokers or post office staff? If that is the case I will stop using them immediately. Has anyone pulled them up on this? Adding I've bought insurance from them before and was told to make a claim instruments must of been sent in a hardcase. Forget where that extra information came from some pop up. Anyhow not happy if I've been deceived.
It would be interesting to do an FOI to Parcelforce and find out how much money they received say in 2015 from customers shipping musical instruments and paying for enhanced compensation which their own terms of business specifically exclude.
 16.
Man, that is the image of my first Stingray from about 15 years ago. Lovely bass at a great price, can't believe it's been here as long as it has to be honest. Oddly, I never found a pickguard that worked with the finish and ended up playing it naked so to speak!
the right guard is a clear one Great bass, great price GLWS
 17.
Cool story and good luck. My story is the exact opposite. Switching from originals bands with few gigs and no money to gigging 2-3 times a week with good money. Enough money to quit my day job and play music for a living. The gigging really improved my playing. Every time I pick up a bass I'm playing something creative. Blue
Yep that's my experience but in reverse. I played with a covers band for some 8 years. The standard was high, I ended up getting the gigs, which with a good product becomes easy and I excelled in getting gigs and we were playing 120 plus well paid (minimum of £80 per man back then) per year I went from this to playing for an originals band and despite the songs being very good and it being artistically rewarding, we never have large audiences or get well paid, if we are paid at all.
 18. Musical instruments are excluded from enhanced compensation. Guitars and brass instruments are particularly prone to damage and should be packed very carefully, in a hard case. See our packaging guidelines for guidance
 19.
It's ok it was a parcelforce error and there systems went haywire the parcel was delivered on time. Yes they are fully covered for loss up to a certain amount think it's £2000 but could be more actually. However damage is only for £100. However pack your parcel right and you should be ok. I've said numerous times I've still never had an issue with parcelforce the delivery times have been as quoted and never a damaged parcel when receiving and sending. And I've sent valve amps and other delicate items up and down the country and to Ireland too.
